Chapter 211 The Intruder in the Room (Continued)

Chapter 211 The Intruder in the Room (Continued)

"Huh? What's wrong with you all...?!"

The terrified screams were about to kill my eardrums.

"Get off, you're going to trample the bed."

I rubbed my ears, which were throbbing from the sudden scream, with some annoyance. I glared at Annie, who had suddenly jumped onto the bed, and reached under her armpits to pull her back to the floor.

Then, as soon as I let go, the guy darted behind me with a whoosh.

I said helplessly, "You were quite bold just now, how come you've become so cowardly now?"

"No, no! Didn't you all see it just now?! There was something moving under the bed!"

Anne pointed shakily to the shadow under the bed, her terrified face contorted like a crumpled piece of paper.

Because of the force behind me, my collar was pulled back, and I had to reach out and unbutton the second button from the top before I could breathe normally again.

"I don't understand why you're so scared. I've seen it before."

While I was complaining, Hikari, who had regained her usual composure, smiled to herself. She stuffed the books she had been collecting back into the bookshelf, picked up her haphazardly placed clothes and bedding, and sat down on the edge of the bed with her knees together, not far from where Annie had been sitting.

"Shall I do this?"

Without waiting for a response, I went straight up to her, took a portion from her hand, quickly folded it, and placed it in the designated spot.

Although not completely thorough, after this tidying up, the room has been restored to a basic level of cleanliness.

It's much better than that chaotic scene from before, where my mother would have to beat me up.

So, the only remaining problem is that uninvited guest still hiding under my bed.

It's really strange. Although I've been in here before, this is the first time I've seen the little guy mess up the room's furnishings. But it's not completely messy. At least the objects themselves aren't torn or damaged. It doesn't seem like he's gone mad like those demonized beasts.

Somewhat confused, I sat down on the edge of the bed, tapped the edge of the bed to make a sound, and deliberately let my left hand hang down casually, so that my fingertips could barely peek out from under the partition.

After a moment's wait, accompanied by a soft rustling sound, under the watchful eyes of Annie, who had already hidden in a distant corner with a terrified expression, a soft, translucent limb slowly emerged from the shadows and gently encircled the left index finger.

I took the opportunity to pull it outwards—

However, something unexpected happened.

For some reason, I couldn't pull this usually obedient little guy out from under me. Instead, I heard a dull "thump" coming from directly under where I was sitting, and the bed under my buttocks also trembled slightly.

Could it be that a ball or something got stuck there?

With this thought in mind, Hikari and I exchanged a glance, and as she beckoned a beam of light to her raised right hand, we simultaneously looked down.

The first thing that comes into view is a messy head of long, brown hair covered with a light layer of dust.

Then, the skin, which should have been as white and bloodless as porcelain, was also covered with large patches of gray on the temples and cheeks.

Her long, slender eyelashes fluttered slightly, revealing an unusual color that seemed to have appeared out of nowhere. Her lips, which were usually only a light pink, now looked like those of a dead person, appearing a slightly purplish-red under the shadows.

A scream powerful enough to shake the human mind rang out again. Perhaps she hadn't even seen what was being dragged out with the [plop] sound, but Annie frantically darted around the small house, almost hiding on my head.

Could she have mistaken this for the head of a dead body?

I raised an eyebrow and, as she darted past me again, I forcefully stopped her on the other side, grabbing her shoulder blade to prevent her from running away again and making a mess of the room.

The timid girl once again put her feet on the bed board, her arms tightly clenched in fear, and even though she was fixed in place and unable to escape, it could not completely stop her from trembling.

Meanwhile, Hikari, who had finally managed to pull her jaw back down, helplessly reached out and pulled the dusty head out from under the bed. She then took out a brand new cloth from her pocket and gently wiped it: "Sister Yao, how did you get stuck under the bed and get yourself all dirty?"

The tone of his complaint was almost identical to when he occasionally saw me being unreliable.

She carefully wiped her face with a silk cloth, brushing away the dust from her mouth and nose before moving away. It was rare to see Yao, who had broken her usual ladylike demeanor, before she quietly spoke: "I originally planned to go to the study next door to find a book to confirm, but I didn't expect to be kicked by a dog that suddenly jumped out halfway and kicked me straight into the wall."

Did you get kicked by a dog?

I looked up and down at the head that had regained its beauty with some surprise, and then I remembered the hunting dog that had suddenly appeared out of nowhere, looking travel-worn.

I don't think so... right?

Logically speaking, hunting dogs usually prefer to follow the path from the void or the spirit world, and wouldn't be unable to stop themselves during non-playtime and randomly kick things in their path.

In addition, I had paid some attention to it for a while and specially trained it to find lost items and avoid obstacles. With the added advantage of its own talent and personality, if it accidentally stepped on or bumped into something while walking, it would not just run away. It would at least check something.

Moreover, putting everything else aside, the reasons Yao just gave would not have caused the chaotic situation in my room before, right?
