Chapter 213 The Appearance of Certain Individuals Never Ends Well (shuhaige.net)

"Pfft, you were scared too, haha!"

Turning my head, I saw the female knight, who had been quietly lurking not far from the door, clutching her stomach and laughing like a shrimp.

"What's going on?" I asked, puzzled.

"Haha, just like what you see here."

Following her directions, I looked ahead and saw that the doll maids who had just been turning to look at me had returned to their usual work rhythm, sweeping the floor, wiping the porch and pillars, or changing bedding and dirty clothes in an orderly manner. However, I no longer saw any of them carrying books from the study to the bookshelf.

I suddenly realized: "Yao and Hikari have already left."

"Yes, I left in the early hours of the morning." Alice wiped away tears from the corners of her eyes. "Because it was urgent, I left as quickly as possible."

Is there anything I don't know?

"Oh, it's a girl's secret, you big man shouldn't meddle, okay?"

Alice said, then suddenly darted behind me, put her hands on my shoulders, and pushed me to turn around and head towards the restaurant: "Hurry up, your meal has been reheated three times already, it's almost spoiled!"

"How about we cook another one? I can cook some simple dishes, after all."

"Having gotten used to the cooking of our adorable little girl, you actually want to go back to eating what you make yourself? I have to admire your willpower."

"You make it sound like the dishes I cook are some inedible scraps or scraps."

"I can't believe you actually said that so openly. I really admire you! I've been wanting to say this for a long time. All you can do is make a big pot of stew, maybe add some grilled meat skewers. What else can you do? You don't make desserts and you don't pay attention to the nutrition or taste of your meals."

I was somewhat unconvinced, but upon reflection, I realized that after the group of us officially moved into [Xiguang], I had very few opportunities to cook for myself. When I was living alone before, I mostly just made do with whatever was available, so it's hard to say that I have any particularly outstanding culinary skills.

That won't do. To prove my reputation, I must present a dish that is so delicious that it will convince everyone!

Thinking this, I quickly rolled up my sleeves above my elbows and rubbed my hands together in anticipation.

Alice behind him continued her nagging: "Oh dear, that's why I told you, you might as well just accept everyone's care. At least you won't starve or get an upset stomach... Huh? Why did you suddenly stop at the door?"

Why else could it be? Of course, it's because I saw someone who shouldn't be here at this time.

Behind the half-open restaurant door, a silver-haired girl gracefully crossed her legs and sat half-sitting in the air, smiling with her eyes half-closed, holding a cup of sweet black tea that was slowly steaming in her hand.

"Oh, my dear foolish disciple, why do you have such an expression when you rarely see your dear teacher?"

What expression could I possibly have?

The head behind me peeked out, then quickly pulled back before I could pat her: "Hmm, all wrinkled up like a bitter gourd."

The silver-haired girl—my mentor—smiled and gently patted the back of the chair next to her: "Come, sit here with your dear mentor."

I followed her instructions and sat down. A doll-like maid walked stiffly into the room and placed the dishes on a tray in front of me.

Ignoring Alice's confused comment, "Huh, this isn't the food I made this morning," and without touching the knife and fork laid out in front of me, I first turned to my tutor: "Tutor, what brings you here all of a sudden?"

Her smiling eyes immediately turned to her: "What, can't I come if there's nothing wrong?"

I immediately shook my head.

Just kidding, do you think I would actually believe that nonsense? Every time my supervisor suddenly comes to see me, it's either because he has something to ask me or he needs to talk to me about something. There's almost never a situation where we just sit together peacefully, have some tea and chat, and then go our separate ways and have a peaceful day.

The current drama is no different.

The mentor, however, showed no intention of explaining. He simply looked around and then feigned frustration, placing the teacup and saucer back on the table before resting his chin on his hand. "Well, it's really bad timing that I came. I didn't even see the other two young ladies. Otherwise, I could have had a good chat with them about their families and how they usually raise their children."

I was stunned by what he said, and it took me a long time to react.

Good heavens, so you suddenly came looking for me, but it turns out your primary target wasn't me, but Hikari and Yao? No wonder they rushed off so early, it was mainly to avoid you?

But that doesn't make sense either.

Given that my mentor is always watching my speech and is certainly capable of doing this, she should have known long ago that the two of them had declared to me yesterday afternoon that they would leave during the day today. And with her abilities, it wouldn't have been difficult for her to guess that the two of them would leave early, thus enabling her to intercept them halfway or forcibly bring them back.

Since she chose to come here at this time and said these words to me, it's nothing more than a show. She probably let them go on purpose after hearing this.

Just in case, and to verify my deduction, I asked in a low voice, "Professor, may I ask, have you been waiting here for...?"
