Chapter 229 The Next Day

Curious, I ruffled the hair on her ear a couple of times: "...Is there a fourth type?"

The long ears, similar in color to the snow-white hair, trembled slightly, emanating a warm feeling from the paw pads: "Hmm? Why do you think that? Well, it is indeed possible, but compared to the three more probable possibilities, the fourth one seems too far-fetched, doesn't it?"

What is it?

I looked at her, puzzled, but Alice just smiled and squinted, without saying anything more.

The brief conversation ended after everyone returned safely to their cabin for the night.

Instead of entering through the main gate of the small building, we watched as Alice and Miyuki once again demonstrated their wall-hugging flying technique without damaging the walls at all.

Almost as soon as they reached out and touched the wall, they were launched into the air with a gentle push. After repeating this a few times, they deftly cleared the required window frame, turned sideways, grabbed the top edge of the window frame with one hand, stepped onto the windowsill, and then jumped in.

It's so elaborate it's almost unremarkable.

I haven't even had a chance to react yet!

The room we returned to was a private room specially arranged for us by the blind saintess. It was only after the other two insisted that the three of us could barely squeeze into one room. Otherwise, according to the blind saintess's original arrangement, Miyuki and Alice should have been assigned to one room, while I would have been alone with another resident who had complicated care but no illness.

This certainly makes our operation tonight easier, but... something just feels off.

Honestly, have these guys gotten addicted to sleeping in a shared dormitory? When I was tidying up the room before, I even moved the bedside tables between the beds to the other side of the room. Although the stated reason was to make better use of the space, there really was no need to push all three beds together.

Honestly, the thought of sleeping with these two soon makes me inexplicably... a little scared.

Am I supposed to turn into a cat and sleep like this for one night? That's not impossible. But looking at how soft and fluffy this bed is, I feel like that would be too unfair to myself.

Fortunately, as soon as they returned to the room, Alice immediately pounced on her bed and fell asleep instantly. On the other side, Miyuki also placed her sword within easy reach, lay down fully clothed, and clearly had no other intentions. This made me, who was still struggling with my thoughts, seem a bit more despicable.

Ah, anyway, don't think about it! I should get a good night's sleep and replenish my energy!

Running around and being chased around all night on edge, although it wasn't without its gains, the exhaustion accumulated both physically and mentally.

I feel like I can sleep straight through tonight until it's broad daylight and time to check my butt...

...As it turns out, I was overthinking it.

Although my body did get a good night's sleep until tomorrow morning, I still feel mentally exhausted.

It's possible that there were some minor issues on the other side, but I'm also not used to staying up late.

I simply adjusted my sleep schedule, it's not like I didn't get enough sleep, but before I could even get out of that slump, a throbbing pain shot through the depths of my brain, making me frown and reach up to cover my forehead.

"Ah, please don't get up yet."

A gentle voice sounded nearby.

I could feel a pair of hands, not very strong, gently pressing on my shoulders, making me gently lean back to return to my previous posture, back into the soft embrace. Then, those slightly cool hands gently pulled my right hand over and pressed up and down on the area near the base of my index and middle fingers.

The pain deep in my brain suddenly subsided, and I waited for a while before finally remembering to open my eyes in the darkness.

The simple curves of her face immediately came into view, followed by her delicate jawline and a pair of eyes that were not hidden by her bangs, with slightly trembling eyelashes but always tightly closed.

Lately, I finally heard the sound of my brain restarting.

What I'm resting my head on now isn't a soft mattress at all! It's clearly the lap pillow of this blind saintess in front of me!

It was a more voluptuous and softer touch than Hikari's. You couldn't feel the slightly uncomfortable kneecaps, but they weren't meaninglessly large either. They were just right and slightly elastic, making it hard to tell whether you were lying comfortably on a soft and solid cloud or swaying in the gentle embrace of a lake.

As I was thinking this, those slightly cool hands released my right hand and gently placed them on both sides of my temples, kneading and rotating them.

Whew—After feeling my brain relax, I'm about to get sleepy again.

Blinking hard to shake off the drowsiness, I carefully tilted my head so as not to disturb the other person's work, and then glanced around to make sure that I couldn't find Miyuki and Alice anywhere. Suddenly, I felt a sense of relief.

No, I didn't do anything, so why do I suddenly feel relaxed?

And what did those two do without waking me up?

I was a little curious, but I didn't ask anything. Instead, I quietly observed the woman in front of me, trying to guess what her sudden appearance meant.

"I just vaguely sensed the pain you were in, so I thought I'd help alleviate it."

The blind saintess, however, somehow sensed my thoughts and suddenly spoke quietly: "You must have left in the middle of the night yesterday, right? Fortunately, you didn't go too far. This morning, for some reason, a group of people came to cause trouble in the inner city, but I managed to get rid of them in the end. Otherwise, if you had gotten involved, the trouble would have been much greater."
