Chapter 250 Foreseeing Disaster

A golden-red flame flashed across the sky, followed by a crisp cracking sound.

Initially, it was just a tiny, inconspicuous crack, like a small crack on the surface of ice, or a sudden break inside glass.

Then, like the residual effects of accidentally breaking a fragile eggshell, more and more tiny cracks appeared, accompanied by a series of cracking sounds, connecting in the air that should have been empty to form a strange spiderweb-like pattern.

However, almost no one had time to be distracted by the sight.

Almost immediately, the instant the first crack was confirmed to have detached from mid-air, and the moment the barrier separating the inside and outside of the ritual array shattered and melted away, everyone who could still move reacted in the same way.

We tackled Till to the ground.

The first to carry her out was naturally Alice, who was closest to her.

With almost no opportunity to strike, a flash of snow-white light disappeared in an instant, and the woman, who was standing still with her eyes downcast and had not yet understood what was happening, lunged forward while clutching her waist.

Of course, because of the dangerous sliding motion, he thoughtfully switched himself to the lower side before landing, and at the same time stretched out his right hand to take care of the back of Till's head in order to prevent any accidents.

The delicate ceremonial sword arced across the distance and landed in a corner, embedding itself half a foot into the shattered debris before wobbling and ceasing its vibrations.

Then came Miyuki, who also charged forward. Unlike her teacher, she didn't let go of her sword. Instead, while restraining the momentum of the others' leaping forward, she gripped the handle with her other hand and stubbornly slammed it onto the ground, creating a series of ear-piercing metallic clangs and sparks as she tried to stop the slide.

I was a step too slow to catch up.

Instead of moving forward, I summoned a magically conjured wind beam, which I had managed to create in a short time, and used it as a buffer to quickly envelop the three of them. This worked well, preventing the three from crashing into the opposite wall and stopping them just outside the ritual array, thus avoiding a secondary collision.

Just in case, I also took the silver dagger that Till had dropped when he unconsciously relaxed his grip and threw it far away in a corner where it was out of sight. Only then did I feel a little relieved.

Looking at Feifei in the sky, the golden-red ball of fur probably flapped its wings and retreated just before it was about to burst. After a cloud of dust and sparks flew up, it probably realized that the scene had finally quieted down. It circled once above their heads and finally landed near where the group had stopped gliding, tilting its head and watching in confusion.

With Alice and Miyuki keeping them in check, there's no need for Till to do anything similar to self-harm for the time being.

I quickly called Stanley over, who was still dumbfounded by the sudden turn of events in those three seconds: "Are you back to normal? Can you move around now?"

Perhaps because I ingested relatively little paralyzing poison, even though my body still has some residual paralysis symptoms and my limbs are a bit sluggish, overall I am not bad. And judging from how I feel now, it is at least much better than the terrible state I was in before. I am obviously recovering slowly.

Stanley's reply, after a moment of stunned silence, came smoothly: "This... it's still a little numb, but it should be much better?"

Hmph, this guy is no good. He's obviously never seen anything big. He was stunned by such a small, unexpected event.

I won't dwell on how I was caught off guard by the unexpected turn of events.

Confirming that Stanley was unable to walk independently and to prevent another accident, I quickly grabbed the back of his robe by the collar and dragged him forward toward the two people who were gradually getting up from the ground—this was not out of revenge, but simply because I was so exhausted that even walking was difficult, which is why I did this.

Although part of it was indeed to get back at him for always giving me the cold shoulder whenever we met.

But now it's just to be able to complete emergency treatment more quickly.

I clearly saw and remember that, just before I had broken through the barrier separating the inside from the outside, Till had already used the silver dagger pressed against his wrist to cut open the delicate skin of his wrist.

Although the area and depth of the tear may not be large due to the gentleness of the movement, the impact of the series of strong movements just now could easily lead to aggravation of the injury or more secondary damage.

That's why we need to catch up with time.

Fortunately, my worries soon subsided.

Stanley, gradually emerging from the paralysis, quickly examined the wound on the blind saint's hand, applied a brief healing spell to seal it, and hurriedly pulled out a potion from under his robes to apply and prevent infection.

Of course, just in case, Alice and Miyuki, who were also girls, gave her a simple full-body check-up. Only after confirming that there was nothing seriously wrong did they gradually feel relieved.

"Wow! That was terrifying!"

Alice, who had returned, exclaimed in surprise in his ear.

"Although it's a dangerous thing, I never expected flying close to the ground to be so much fun! I feel like I'd like to try it again!"

I turned to glare at her, speechless.

Although I already knew that this guy never said anything serious, this time the difference from my expectations was too great. In addition, I had already exhausted most of my mental and magical energy in a short period of time, so I felt that I had no desire to complain at all.

In contrast, after preparing to clean up the mess he left behind, a profound sense of exhaustion welled up from the bottom of his heart, completely different from when he was suddenly affected by the paralyzing poison.
