But before I could make any further moves, the guy carrying me understood: "Ah, change positions? I see, wait a minute."
Soon, my posture was changed, and I was placed in a vertical position facing her.
Incidentally, it's like we're dancing cheek to cheek, with our arms wrapped around each other's necks and waists, except I'm doing the female steps while Alice is doing the male steps.
Indeed, the increase in speed was obvious. The pillar of fire that was originally close behind us gradually fell far behind. The only drawback was that it was a little shy.
To be honest, apart from that one night spent in the hot spring cabin, I've never been that close to other girls before.
Okay, let's put aside all distractions.
Because our goal is now within reach.
"I can't stop the car."
Alice, who was holding me, smiled broadly and unilaterally announced her next move: "So, the instant I'm past the target location, I'll throw you right there."
"It might be a bit bumpy, and the position might not be very accurate, so please be prepared, Master~?"
As she made her announcement, I clearly felt the touch of the hands that were wrapped around my waist quickly slipping away, but because I was still hanging on her body, plus a little inertia, I didn't fall off for the time being.
But this cannot last.
I knew this perfectly well, so I simply nodded, decisively let go of his hand, and turned my gaze behind me.
Piercing through the pale white shock layer, surrounded by a colorful ring, a gigantic polyhedron radiating brilliant light is now close at hand and about to be surpassed.
To be honest, I was sweating bullets.
We have absolutely no idea where this crazy plan will ultimately lead.
Only by actually doing it can you know for sure.
For the plan to succeed, I need to add some insurance.
First, reduce your own weight to slow down the descent.
"But we can't be too hasty in releasing the spell."
At the same time, I warned myself: "Otherwise, it will only negate the speed advantage that Alice has painstakingly built up with her crazy acceleration, and because she can't exert any force, she will have difficulty throwing me to the nearest position."
"Only by releasing the attack at the very moment it is about to make contact with the target can it be done perfectly."
There's another crucial point.
"Although I had some idea when I observed it on the ground, I never expected that this multifaceted object would have such a huge volume, and the magical fluctuations it contained were no weaker than those leaked from the golden cup. It would be quite troublesome to take it away in an instant."
"If we were to open the door and move directly, the two most likely options would be either to be engulfed by the fire pillars that followed, or to be pulled by the sheer size of the fire pillars and fall directly into the abyss."
Either outcome is equally terrifying.
Even if she had a good relationship with the Bride of the Abyss, if she were to fall into the Abyss herself, it wouldn't be as simple as just asking for help to escape.
After all, apart from a few individuals... perhaps only the Bride of the Abyss, no one else knows the secrets hidden beneath the abyss.
I don't want to be the second unlucky one.
Therefore, "I hope the plan succeeds."
This was a thought that flashed through my mind in an instant.
"Haha, good luck! Yay! I'm flying!"
Amidst cheerful laughter, just before I finally surpassed the target polyhedron in height and my speed began to stagnate and fall, Alice grabbed my arm and gently pushed me towards the polyhedron in what appeared to be an elegant spin.
Although it's described as a light push, the speed is much faster than jogging.
Almost instantly, my reflection on the polyhedron's surface expanded from a tiny point the size of a bowl to a full proportion of my appearance.
"Wait a minute, why is there a barrier here too?!"
I stared in panic at the thing that had suddenly appeared before me, and immediately tried to activate the flight technique I had prepared in the brief moment before taking off, in order to reduce the possibility of a collision.
However, before I could even finish preparing, as if an eggshell had been cracked or a fragile sugar coating had been broken, with a snap, the iridescent ring shattered and fell before my eyes, crashing into the surface of the polyhedron with almost no reduction in speed.
The intense pain and impact made me dizzy, but thankfully I didn't lose consciousness in the violent tremors. The moment I realized I was about to slip off the surface of the polyhedron, I quickly grabbed onto anything I could and swiftly released my flight spell.
Another strong tremor.
The crystal beneath his body trembled incessantly, exhibiting strong instability.
After finally managing to steady myself amidst the turbulence, I was immediately met with a scorching blast of hot air, as if I had been roasted and burned.
"Ha!"
It was a whirlwind of fire that was right behind Alice and me.
At the critical moment, perhaps the impact transmitted from me was too strong. Even though it directly shattered the protective shield surrounding the multifaceted body, it still swayed its position to the other side, completely deviating from the path that would have resulted in a direct hit. In the end, it only grazed past me by a tiny margin.
I have no doubt that if the impact of the magical flow had been any more intense, the thing beneath me would have been the next to explode.
At the critical moment, luck returned to my side once again... or so it seemed.
