Once you've confirmed the true nature of the matter, you'll realize, upon reflection, that everything was actually quite simple.
Right beneath my hand, on the cold, hard stone platform, a small, inconspicuous wisp of chaotic magic remained hidden from view, lingering there until it eventually triggered a ripple that swept through the entire inner sanctum.
It's like finally finding the end of this tangled yarn; all I need to do is apply a little external force to easily solve all the problems I've had so far.
—Isn't it too easy?
This question has arisen before.
But looking back, it seems that this is the only way.
Admittedly, before proceeding, I must conduct a preliminary investigation to confirm its safety, in order to prevent further harm to others involved in the illusion.
However, this is no longer a problem.
The thread is in my hands, which means that all I need to do now is unravel the related techniques.
Although it's a very troublesome operation, it's not difficult for me at least.
In just a short moment, I successfully accomplished this.
The procedure itself is disassembled and analyzed, and then a neutralizing method is used to completely pull out the thread without tangling it.
It looks like a completely amateurish job. It didn't even do the most basic concealment spells, or even apply any fixed status. If you just leave it like that and don't do anything about it, it will only take half a day or so for it to dissipate on its own.
It sounds as if everything I've worked so hard for since entering the inner sanctum has been in vain.
However, that's not the case. I did manage to do something, at least I can tell from the fading white marks on the elves who were falling into illusions after waking up.
Although it's something the person involved won't know, I feel good right now, so it doesn't matter.
However, although the sounds representing the illusion were fading after the chaotic flow of magic that formed the basis of the illusion was resolved, why was there still no further activity after waiting for a while? Could there still be some trap that needs to be broken and confirmed?
Just as I turned my head with a worried heart to examine the boy leaning against me, with a breath as if suddenly awakened from a nightmare, the boy with long, loose blue hair sat up straight from his leaning position, and a bright halo flashed in his green eyes the moment he opened them.
However, the halo quickly dissipated.
As if he had done some intense exercise, the boy's straight body suddenly slumped and contracted, curling up and hugging his bent knees, even burying his head in his crossed arms, panting heavily. For a moment, I was unsure whether it was the right time to strike up a conversation.
Just then, the little guy sleeping in my arms raised his head with a clear chirp, opened his mouth and turned his head left and right to look at me. His adorable posture clearly said, "I'm awake and very hungry, so please feed me." It was really hard to know what to say.
Sheng, looking up in a daze, happened to see me feeding the little guy. She didn't even bother to tidy up the wet hair stuck to her forehead. She just managed to focus her unfocused gaze and let out a soft laugh: "She really is a bird mother."
"I already said she's not my mother."
I instinctively tried to talk back, but the mischievous child made me a little flustered. When will this child finally be able to leave the caregiver's arms?
After finally calming down the restless Feifei and letting it fly off to bother the black guy who was quietly waking up in the corner, I turned my attention back to Sheng and checked his condition: "He should be alright, right?"
"...What could possibly be wrong?"
Although that's what he said, he's usually the kind of guy who would casually flick his forehead and laugh cheerfully, saying, "Wow, bro, we've been through so much together, how could I possibly be in trouble?" But now he looks extremely tired and can't even react normally.
After thinking for a moment, I turned around and sat down next to him: "If you're tired, take a rest. Anyway, everything's been resolved, and we can deal with the rest later."
Sheng pouted, but still obediently leaned back in her original position, letting out a long sigh: "The last one, actually, was it Big Brother who helped break it?"
"Huh? What? You mean the illusion from earlier?"
I didn't intend to hide it, but before I could even bring it up, the other person spoke first, and for a moment I didn't know how to react.
"After all, judging from my initial budget and the progress so far, it will take quite a while to completely clear this illusion."
Suddenly intrigued, he asked, "Speaking of which, I'm quite curious about what you just saw."
"Ah, this? Because my older brother wasn't involved, he probably doesn't know, right?"
Sheng scratched the side of his face: "Actually, it's not anything very interesting. It's just trying to fight against a sea that keeps crashing in, and fighting against all sorts of monsters that keep emerging from the sand dunes while hiking through the desert."
"Does that sound difficult?"
"Maybe? It might be a bit difficult for the average person, but I think it's alright, so-so?" The boy shrugged. "Actually, there are quite a few more challenges ahead, such as walking through a fiery hell, surviving on the outside of a tornado, or escaping from a collapsing earth. I once persisted for a long time to gather information on various situations."
