Chapter 36 Meetings and Requests

"Therefore, I don't want an overly one-sided understanding to influence the views I will make, so I can only answer you: I don't know."

"Let me rephrase the question: Do you have any feelings for fairies? Even just a slight one. This is very important to us."

This is really a persistent and uncompromising stance.

but……

Gazing at the two beautiful little human figures before me, their trembling, transparent wings and gradient dresses, the delicate adornments and furnishings revealing a refined and pure inner beauty. Closing my eyes, the numerous rhythms reflected within my senses convey a lively, light, and bright feeling. It's hard to say that anyone wouldn't feel a sense of closeness to such beautiful beings.

So, following my mood, I opened my eyes and nodded gently: "I love all beautiful things."

In an instant, soft gasps of surprise rose from all around.

The flower fairy seemed unable to bear it any longer and retreated slightly. Seeing her queen beckoning, she floated over again. After a brief exchange, she seemed to want to come over, but then suddenly stopped halfway, pretending to retreat back to her previous position. She coughed lightly and asked loudly, "So, we are fortunate enough to know that if there were a group of fairies—please note, if, hypothetically—who wanted to have a closer relationship with you—mainly referring to becoming residents under the same roof—what would you think about that?"

I looked at the two figures opposite me, one standing and one sitting, with a mixture of amusement and exasperation. Then I saw the flower fairy awkwardly bare her teeth at me and turn her face away.

Honestly, when I heard the Fairy Queen was coming to meet me, I expected a more serious meeting, something I could brag about to my friends. But to my surprise, the serious, formal meeting turned into a leisurely afternoon tea session in the blink of an eye due to the Fairy Queen's potential social anxiety. Then, our communication became a problem requiring intermediaries to relay messages, and it even veered into something like a job interview.

Am I really not undergoing any pre-employment qualification review? And the reviewers I'm dealing with are both unreliable.

Even though the outside world is about to face a huge crisis, for some reason, my heart has gradually calmed down amidst all this turmoil.

However, there are still some issues that need to be addressed.

I brushed the food crumbs off my hands and sat up straight again: "There's no need to beat around the bush anymore, I know what you're trying to say."

"But I must point out that even a mage who has mastered the [Miniature Garden Creation] technique cannot easily change the facts and truths that are regarded as the principles of magic. Everything we have is built on the foundation of reality, and then we use precise numerology to fine-tune and calibrate it. If we arrogantly and carelessly remove one of these elements or make a mistake, all our achievements will be like a castle built of sand, which will gradually collapse on its own without even waiting for the tide to come."

"And if anyone could do that... perhaps only a group of top-tier mages who have successfully amassed their own unique authority?"

What is authority? Is it the culmination of a lifetime of meticulous refinement, the convergence of the soul, or perhaps a symbol of power and might, or even the ultimate in combat strength?

I wasn't aware of this, and when I asked my mentor, the only response was a few words that it wasn't something I needed to know right now. However, one thing I was very clear about was that only those who could reach this level could be considered true top beings, capable of looking down upon the world and possessing the power to turn the world upside down at will.

"What we ask for is not such a distant and extravagant hope."

A soft, gentle voice came from across the room, startling me from my thoughts.

Startled, I looked up at the Fairy Queen, who was blushing and staring at the teacup she was gripping tightly, earnestly and earnestly explaining her thoughts: "I know this request may seem too abrupt to you, but for the sake of my people, for everything I love, I have to consider it more carefully and hope to gain your approval."

"After losing the support of the sacred tree, this world has teetered on the brink of collapse and destruction. I can hear its lament, its helplessness and sorrow at being unable to continue supporting itself, and its bewilderment and longing for the vanished sacred tree."

"I earnestly request that you grant us temporary accommodation. This is our only hope after all these years. Yes, you guessed it, the reason we make this request is partly due to what we heard from someone we met recently, but more so because your sincerity and the kindness and love in your heart resonate with me. Unlike those people I've met before, whose desires and evils make it impossible for me to easily believe anything they say."

"Of course, this is not a long-term solution. After passing through this special period, the fairy race will embark on a journey to find a new home and try to find a way to continue on their own."

How about this?

She spoke so quietly for so long, the blush on her face still lingering. Even though she was still shy, she looked at me with those earnest eyes.

For a moment, all was silent, as if time itself was holding its breath, waiting for my answer.
