Chapter 69: Mentor

This is completely different from the attitude she usually presents to me.

Although the time was short, Lena's unconventional personality and rather forthright nature, as the leader of [Dawn], left a deep impression on me.

Compared to the usually quiet Yao and the often loud and clumsy Hikari, Lena is usually quiet and composed with a bold style. However, if it comes to her research area, such as academic issues related to mechanical creations and magical devices, this petite girl who likes to be seen as the big sister will immediately launch into a long impromptu discourse with fervor and enthusiasm.

This includes, but is not limited to, the history of mechanical development, up to the possibility of the decline and revival of modern mechanics.

Just hearing about it gives me a headache.

However, since we're talking about the big sister, there are two more points to add.

First, this thing has poor eyesight, and the difference between its two eyes is very large. So much so that in daily life, it often trips over bumps that it tries to avoid, or is startled by something it suddenly notices in the distance. By the time it calms down, it hasn't even seen a shadow of the other person yet.

As for the second one, this guy is also an authority holder.

Its name is [Time Positioning].

Although I don't know exactly what it means or how to use it, it sounds like it would be very powerful.

In the few seconds I was thinking, over there, the mentor who had jumped down from his knees had already tamed Lena, who was about his age, and was now floating near the ground, gently stroking Lena's hair with one hand.

"...Okay, I didn't really come here for anything."

Lena shifted her gaze left and right, unusually fidgeting with her fingers: "Just now I suddenly felt that the time positioning node here was malfunctioning, so I thought I'd come and take a look to see if anything had happened, and to see if I needed any help."

"I just didn't expect to be discovered so quickly..."

"It sounds like you care about this place quite a bit."

“Of course!” Lena reflexively puffed out her chest with pride. “After all, I’m the boss here! As the boss, it’s my job to take good care of my juniors!”

"[Witch], please stop teasing [Hui] so much."

Yao, who had been quietly flipping through her book, calmly interjected, "[Hui] is just used to being serious about everything. She was just worried about the safety of everyone here, so she thought of coming to take care of them."

"I'm more curious about what you just did than that."

With a casual shrug, the mentor thanked Hikari for the fruit plate. Sitting cross-legged in mid-air, he didn't even think about peeling the fruit. He simply wiped the apple he had picked up on his clothes a few times before putting it to his mouth and taking a bite: "It's just a painting that I tore off."

"This doesn't look like something that can be done easily."

"Then you should understand that this is not difficult for me."

She responded casually, her gaze sweeping across the room before suddenly landing on the still anxious artist: "The one who was once called Aisha. First of all, I'm sorry I ruined your work, but I'm not going to apologize. After all, you almost hurt my dear disciple, which makes me very unhappy right now."

"Fortunately, this was not your intention. It was more due to the negligence and accident of my foolish disciple. In addition, he was the one who made the request first, so I have decided not to hold you responsible."

She paused for a moment, chewed and swallowed the grapes she had put in her mouth, and saw a hint of joy and gratitude on [Aisha's] face. She then pointed to the broken canvas that had been thrown into the corner of the hall and was now being silently picked up by the puppet maid: "You should feel it, right? Right now, you can't perfectly control how not to give life to the painting, to turn it into a living thing, or to keep it as it is."

"In your writing, the line between illusion and reality is very thin. The only difference is whether you want to or not to, and how much you are willing to pay and bear. Although this ability mostly comes from the paintbrush that you possess and the superposition of your predecessor's bloodline, it is not something that can be easily shaken off by simply changing the tools you use for painting."

"Whether it's a high-pitched or low-pitched voice, overly intense emotions will trigger [the following]."

"Therefore, for you now, even simply drawing has the potential to directly or indirectly lead to a disaster."

Does that mean it won't be too heavy?

For the lingering regret of the former artist, perhaps the only remaining thought was "the desire to continue painting." To deny that would be tantamount to denying her entire existence.

I wanted to speak up and stop them, but then I thought that my mentor might have already seen through everything, so I just gave him a look.

My mentor, who had his back to me, perhaps sensed my doubts, and simply shook the ends of his silvery-white hair gently, signaling me to be quiet and patient.

Floating in front of [Aisha], who was almost in tears, the mentor's teachings maintained their original pace. Her delicate hands gently covered her head and stroked it lightly: "But, you who were once called Aisha, what I'm saying is not that I want you to give up your beloved painting, but that I'm telling you that you need to do more so that you can pick up the paintbrush again."

“You are a capable person, so even after death, you can still continue your existence in another way, and even reach a realm that ordinary people cannot reach. If you were to waste this possibility that can be called a miracle, that would be a waste of your talent.”

Is Miss [Aisha] really that amazing?
