That's absolutely right.
"This is a maze illusion based on astrology, although it's not a fully activated version yet~"
I recalled a conversation I had heard before.
I recall my mentor and the dean mentioning in a conversation that Professor Adrian would be using something similar to an astrological maze in the practical activities. Could this be the one we're talking about now?
Although I have doubts, it is something that has not yet happened, so I cannot know for sure.
Alice examined the map curiously, then suddenly exclaimed softly, "Wait a minute, doesn't this map look familiar somewhere?"
The furry hand moved across the simple map: "This looks like the Northwest Desert, which is now the Crimson Flame Land. It looks like the location of the World Tree has been crossed out... This is the source of water, and the far north is the Arctic Ice Plains."
"And here, if I'm not mistaken, this place seems to be the city you visited yesterday, Master... I can't understand the picture next to it, but I feel it represents something."
Alice's words gave me much to think about.
The places it points to are all marked with red circles. The slender lines extend outward from the direction of the Crimson Land, eventually landing in the city of Piss, but then radiate out to four small endpoints, as if the person who drew this map was hesitating about where to extend it.
I have no clue about the circles and squares drawn next to the red circle, but if I had to figure out a common point...
"...In three of these cities, there have been reports of thefts of valuables."
The sound flowed out naturally, yet it added a new layer of confusion.
If the events recorded on this drawing are indeed related to the theft we heard about yesterday, why would Professor Adrian, who has been confirmed to have remained quiet and not gone anywhere, be involved in it? Upon closer inspection, it was Professor Adrian who deliberately mentioned the theft of [Frostheart] to us, and he was also present when the auction item was stolen.
Endless suspicions began to accumulate, and the presence of multiple Adrians who were still unaware of the true situation made the truth behind the matter even more elusive.
"Hey master! Bad news, we have to go!"
Alice raised her right leg: "My right leg tells me that something ominous is rapidly approaching!"
The cat pacing at their feet also let out a uneasily whimpering warning.
Logically, Adrian, who had been summoned, shouldn't have left the distant Dean's office so early; he should have returned to the Star Tower around noon. But I couldn't gamble on that possibility. After confirming that I could restore the disordered things to their original positions, and reactivating the illusion on them after covering them with the blanket, I pulled up my hood, preparing to repeat the same trick.
"Idiot! That thing is already at the door! Over here!"
Suddenly, a pull came from my feet, and I was pulled into the shadows without warning. Alice, who had shrunk back to her original size, pressed on my face several times and barely managed to stuff me in. As the darkness moved, I shrank under the bed.
Before I could even adjust to my uncomfortable position, the door suddenly opened.
