Chapter 88 Disposal

Ms. Juliana finally arrived when I was about halfway through my inventory, dragging her mentor, who was fast asleep and floating in the air with a pillow in her arms.

She was clearly surprised by what she saw, looking around with a shocked gaze. Within a few minutes, she was certain that this was something she couldn't understand, and she decisively chose to kick her tutor out.

To this, I could only respond with an awkward but polite smile.

The mentor seemed completely oblivious to causing trouble. With a flurry of punches, he shook off Ms. Juliana's icy hand that was pinching his cheek. His shrunken, supple body floated in mid-air, swaying as he approached. Like a sloth, he wrapped his arms around my neck and slumped onto me, slowly yawning: "Ha—good morning, my dear disciple. If there's nothing else, I'll go back to sleep..."

"What do you mean 'early'? It's almost afternoon!"

Why is there drool on your pillow?

I couldn't help but get angry, but my mentor still defeated me with his completely indifferent attitude, so I had no choice but to serve as his vehicle.

Fortunately, this guy has been floating so I don't feel much weight, and there's no restriction on my movements. The only annoying thing is his long silver hair, which is also floating in mid-air and dancing around with my movements.

However, it seems that the current type of tutor is the easiest to exploit; asking some complex questions might even yield a solution...

I tried asking her a question like "What is the ultimate goal of the universe?" Then, under the horrified gaze of Ms. Juliana, after a leisurely yawn, I felt something cool gently touch my temples. This was followed by a swelling sensation as a large amount of incomprehensible knowledge was poured into me. A sense of understanding rose in my heart, but I didn't know exactly what I had understood.

Anyway, it turned into a cosmic cat head.

Forget it, this shortcut is too dangerous. I shouldn't be reckless. Otherwise, if I do it a few more times, my brain might crack open like an overripe watermelon.

Let's get back to the main topic.

I submitted the completed inventory to Ms. Juliana for review, briefly answered a few questions, and then led her to the innermost part of the laboratory.

Even though the boy was resting with his eyes closed, he still exuded a vibrant aura, despite being hidden by the experimental chamber and the bright green concentrated life fluid. This caused even the academy dean, who prided himself on his extensive knowledge, to gasp in surprise.

"Those damned guys, do they even spare such a small child?!"

Ms. Juliana clenched her fists, her jaw tightened, and her face, illuminated by the sunlight, revealed a clear hatred and resentment.

I shrugged and didn't respond.

Needless to say, for those who have already stepped into the abyss of madness, life is nothing more than a quantifiable number, a plaything to be disassembled and reassembled at will, rather than an existence equal to themselves. Even if they also have a near-human appearance, they are nothing more than a group of pseudo-humans living in the world by imitating the behavior of ordinary humans, but without normal minds.

Perhaps in their eyes, the offspring of the same lineage are not much more precious than cattle and sheep? Only when they are subjected to the same suffering do they have a slight possibility of pretending to have suddenly realized their mistakes.

Without saying much, Ms. Juliana and I continued with the unfinished work.

Matters involving chimera experiments are undoubtedly taboo and must be kept secret, therefore these matters cannot be entrusted to ordinary mages. Only a select group of members authorized within the academy, or their subordinate execution teams, can undertake such tasks upon receiving orders. Students who choose to take up two specially appointed mage positions after graduating from the academy also possess the right and responsibility to know about these matters, but they must still have a portion of their memories sealed after reporting the relevant tasks.

Naturally, most of the teachers who remained in the faculty did not have the right to know the inside story.

The necessary measures to prevent the spread of taboos are admirable, but they are also unavoidable in the face of secrets that can tempt people to depravity.

...So that's why those guys are so lenient when it comes to things involving me and my mentor! Are they really annoyed by the two of them constantly making cameo appearances on various film sets, or are they deliberately turning a blind eye?

Do they really think I wouldn't dare to stoop to their level?

Okay, I really don't dare.

It's happier to just eat, drink, play, and quietly get through each day.

Without directly breaking into the experimental chamber, most of the monsters seen through the transparent glass were sleeping peacefully, showing little sign of struggling. However, judging from the occasional muscle spasms, these guys' experiments had not yet progressed to a stage that could be called perfect.

I don't know whether to feel fortunate or have mixed feelings.

The good news is that, based on the current batch of chimeras, the technology possessed by the other side is mostly incomplete and still in a state of restoration, so it is unlikely to be put into use in the short term. The bad news is that it is still unknown how many similar chimera laboratories exist in various places, and how many innocent lives have been lost as a result.

Banishing their insignificant worries, their combined efforts quickly brought the work to a close. After carefully reviewing the statistics, all that remained was to process the on-site work.

Those monsters that have already become chimeras must be dealt with as soon as possible, leaving not even a single fragment, to prevent them from possibly rising from the ashes if they are discovered.

However, how to handle it more efficiently has become a point of contention that needs further discussion.

It was finally confirmed that within the laboratory located beneath the ruins of the Stargazing Tower, there were a total of fifty-four surviving monsters and over three hundred dead and unborn creatures, distributed across different compartments—a number that would shock anyone who witnessed it. The majority of these chimeras were poisonous species, with a small number of beasts and birds, and even more insects and scorpions.
