Chapter 90 Invitation (Thank you for your first subscription, meow~)
When I walked into the restaurant with the letter, everyone's eyes were drawn to me.
"Good morning, Master of the Small Garden. Does the sun rise in the west today?"
Ignoring the housekeeper's teasing as she looked up from behind the bookshelf, I raised the letter in my hand: "Friends, how about we go out and have some fun for a few days?"
"Hmm? Mr. Yumi, has something good happened?"
Unsurprisingly, our adorable little silly Hikari was the first to respond.
Her habit of swallowing her food before speaking was earnest and endearing. Her gentle and bright eyes seemed to sparkle with a dazzling brilliance, yet she still couldn't help but have a few crumbs of jam on her cheeks.
Raising an eyebrow, I took out a prepared towel from the side and gently wiped her face. The girl squinted her eyes, revealing a small animal expression, but her cheeks couldn't help but blush after realizing her lapse in composure.
I casually handed the napkin to the doll-like maid who came over with a tray at the right moment, and after pulling out a chair and sitting down, I explained the reason: "It's nothing serious. I just received a letter from home saying that my brother will be getting engaged next week, and asking if I have time to go back home."
"Huh? Bro, you actually have an older brother!"
Lena, lifting her head from the large rice bowl, stared wide-eyed.
This guy has been going to the library every few days lately, I don't know if it's to look up all sorts of technical information or to chat with kindred spirits he rarely encounters in the field of technology.
The flower fairy, unsurprisingly, stayed to the side. Upon hearing the commotion, she sat up from the back of the cat and looked around.
Since the fairy clan moved into the miniature garden, the flower fairy has been the fairy who travels most frequently between the fairy's temporary residence and the miniature garden. She has also gotten along well with the three little ones who are free to roam, and from time to time asks them to carry some items that are inconvenient for a fairy to transport due to their size.
Thanks to these two, the amount of ore materials I just plundered from the underground laboratory has been greatly reduced, but the results are equally gratifying—at least the basic defensive structure inside the miniature garden has taken shape.
Although we are not yet able to completely defend against the intruder from last time, we can at least take some measures to delay and counterattack, so that when we encounter a similar accident again, we will not only be able to do some harassment that is not much better than scrubbing a bath.
Overall, the money was well spent.
After emptying another large bowl of jade egg drop porridge, Lena, with a wooden spoon in her mouth, looked thoughtful and mumbled her opinion: "Come to think of it, I've never heard you mention your family situation before, and I thought you didn't have a very good relationship with them."
"Huh? Didn't I say that?"
Hikari nodded seriously, then squinted and took a big bite of the jam sandwich.
I couldn't help but wonder, but then I realized that I hadn't mentioned my family matters to the people in front of me, and the sisters had also tacitly avoided asking about it, which made me subconsciously forget about it.
“If I remember correctly, you only mentioned a few times that you lived in Mermaid Port before going to the academy,” Yao pointed out. “The fact that your mother was a Holy Voice Singer was only confirmed after we combined our own speculation with Hikari’s report after returning from Pis City.”
Hikari nodded again, then paused, turning to look at Yao who was staring in their direction, and exclaimed in shock, "What! So you guys already knew, Yao-nee?! You didn't tell me?!"
"It's just a guess, a guess~"
Lena, with her fair legs crossed and propped up on the table, clasped her hands behind her head and wobbled in her chair. However, this unladylike behavior was quickly punished by the doll maid who stepped forward from behind her, and she soon fell into an argument between "doing this is not ladylike etiquette" and "I took off my shoes and socks properly, and it's more comfortable to do it this way".
And this argument was finally resolved when Dark, who had just finished breakfast, emerged from the shadows and threatened, "Be careful, or I'll break the balance of the chair."
After moving the food basket back to its original position and enjoying a hearty meal, the noisy morning came to an end. The pan-fried creamy mushrooms and potato wedges, paired with a steak drizzled with a special flavorful honey sauce, and topped with sweet and sour orange juice, were really delicious. Although eating such a large meal so early in the morning felt a bit heavy, I still finished it all very well.
It must be said that perhaps due to a breakthrough in the technology of creating dolls, the newly added doll maids are unparalleled in both appearance and cooking skills. Even the king of the kingdom could not have enjoyed much better food on a regular basis.
The most important point is that I don't need to make any special preparations for these ingredients!
It was impossible to know the source of Yao's ingredients, as if she had a unique supply channel. With just a blink of an eye, she could take out countless rich ingredients from behind her or under her skirt amidst a dazzling array of special effects.
The doll-like maids cleared away the long table that had been used as a dining table. Surprisingly, no one left after finishing their meal. Instead, they sat there peacefully, waiting for me to speak.
The artist's remnant soul, who had stayed up all night, finally drifted out of the studio. As it passed the door, it was noticed by Hikari, who beckoned it in and, looking bewildered, floated inside and sat down as well.
So, shall we tell you now?
Most of the eyes that gathered around were filled with curiosity: "This is the first time I've heard you bring up your family matters on your own initiative, brother!"
