Chapter 93: Negotiations That May Affect Future Development

Chapter 93: Negotiations That May Affect Future Development

Sitting on the sofa in the workshop was Princess Grey, whom I hadn't seen for some time.

Her fiery red hair was pulled up and draped over one shoulder, revealing her snow-white neck and a beaded necklace. Her pale yellow dress with puff sleeves and an off-the-shoulder neckline cinched at the waist, and the hem, which just reached her knees, spread out like flowers. Her legs, clad in tall boots, were crossed. She held a document in one hand and a cup of warm tea in the other, about to drink it.

Somewhat surprised, the little princess put down her teacup, stood up, and first greeted my father respectfully. Then she quickly moved closer and whispered in my ear, "No, senior, do you also have something to discuss with Mr. Julius? And I haven't heard from you since that last time. Has something gone wrong in handling things... Do you need any help?"

She was probably referring to the matter involving Professor Adrian.

I shook my head and answered her second question first: "Nothing special. The academy has taken care of the rest, so there's no need for me to wander around the area anymore. As for you, you should have received the things I asked someone to pass on to you before, right?"

"Yes, I received it. The item arrived intact, which is wonderful. I was just thinking of thanking you in person."

I observed her expression, carefully choosing my words: "It was just something I did on the spur of the moment. But I glanced at it accidentally when I was retrieving it; it should be fine, right?"

Grey shook her head slightly and blinked. "It's okay~ As long as it's not broken. Anyway, we can't explain the meaning of the pictures in those collections on our own yet. We only know that they are very important and must be kept safe. If we happen to get an explanation from you, senior, it would be better than just auctioning them off."

It's good that you're alright.

I breathed a sigh of relief and shifted my attention away from Grey, my back suddenly stiffening for a moment.

I don't know when, but my father, who had walked to the desk and turned to look at us with his back to the light streaming in from the window, was now standing in front of us... No, we should now call him Mr. Julius, the owner of the Lovech Workshop. His eyes, which had a faint iron-gray, cold and hard texture, stared straight at our quiet conversation. There was no trace of the softness and joy that had remained in his eyes before. Instead, they were like those of a hawk staring intently at its prey, flashing with a sharp light.

That wasn't the gaze of a father; rather, it was more like that of a businessman, calmly calculating the hidden benefits and value of everything within his field of vision.

The tense atmosphere made my back slightly sweaty.

This is the first time I've seen Julius like this.

"You..." He gazed at us for a long time, and just as the little princess stepped forward, preparing to speak amidst the rising momentum, he finally opened his tightly pursed lips, "Do you know each other?"

I couldn't figure out what he was thinking for a moment.

Slightly stunned, I turned my head and met the gaze of the little princess who was also looking at me with a somewhat blank expression. After a brief exchange of glances, I also stepped forward and took the lead in introducing her: "Grey is my junior in the first year of the academy. We happened to have some things to hand over in our studies before, and a friend introduced us, so we got to know each other."

"Why is the introduction so formal...?"

You can hear Grey muttering something to herself. Turning her head, you see the little princess gracefully lifting one side of her skirt as if she had never said those words before: "As Senior Yumi said, we are senior and junior in the academy, and we just happened to meet because of some things."

Julius, standing with his back to the light, had an unreadable expression. All that could be seen was that he nodded slightly, crossed his arms, and returned to a pensive state, seemingly lost in thought.

Gray quietly approached from the side and picked up on the topic I had avoided earlier with a curious tone: "So, what brings you to the workshop today, senior? Are you ordering magical tools? Or is there a big order you need to discuss?"

"Why don't you tell me? Senior is now one of the most prestigious clients of the Wan Jin Chamber of Commerce. As long as you make a request, I will have them do their best to meet it for you."

How could anyone try to solicit business from their son in front of my father?

There was some silence, but more than that, there was a subtle amusement.

This made me have a wicked idea.

With a serious expression, I dropped a bombshell: "It's nothing special, just that I came with my father to see who he's going to discuss important matters with."

"Hmm, I see. You came here with your father for a visit and further studies... Oh!?"

The sudden loud noise made Gray instinctively take a step back, almost falling over as her knee hit the coffee table. Fortunately, she quickly adjusted her posture, thus avoiding an embarrassing moment in front of everyone.

Even though she hurriedly covered half of her face with her fan, one could still vaguely see her chin, which she hadn't bothered to close, and her wide, beautiful eyes were almost rolling off the ground, filled with an expression of disbelief.

“You…are you father and son? Shouldn’t it be Mr. Yuel? And you two don’t even look very alike…”

"Yuel is my brother."

I shrugged, suppressing the tingling sensation in my stomach that made me want to laugh: "The reason we don't look alike is because I look more like my mother, except for the hair and eye color."

"I see……"

She looked me and Julius up and down, her voice sounding like she was sleepwalking, clearly indicating that her soul, which had been thrown off balance, had not yet returned to its place.

As for Hikari, who had been watching from the sidelines, she had already quietly slipped outside and burst into laughter the moment that surprised exclamation erupted.
