Chapter 97 The Great Tide

The first wave of the tide was scattered on the beach, while the second wave had already flooded most of the shore.

As the third wave was about to arrive, the nine mermaid statues placed in the open square all rose up with a hazy, shimmering light, eventually converging into a one-way outward-facing illusory barrier, unifying the converging storm and causing the surging tide to freeze in mid-air for a moment.

Even if the storm and tide return to normal in the next instant, their power has undoubtedly been reduced.

Now, some time has passed since Yuel sent the message back, and if nothing went wrong, a response should be forthcoming by now.

The seawater, salty and damp, swept down from the sky, carrying fish and crabs that thrashed helplessly on the beach. The powerful current reached above their calves, then surged towards the city before retreating reluctantly, awaiting the arrival of the next wave.

Time is running out.

Rehearsing the key points of the plan in my mind, I gazed at the massive waves crashing overhead, as if I could hear countless gasps and gasps coming from afar behind me. I raised my hand, drawing magic from within my body, and conjured a pale golden magic circle beneath my feet, preparing to do everything in my power to open the largest door.

This is indeed incredibly risky, because I'm not even sure how much magic-rich water I can withstand. But if it succeeds, it will not only solve part of the problem of the impending tidal surge that Mermaid Harbor will face, but it will also strengthen the outer defenses of the Little Garden, allowing me to devise some more adventurous modification methods.

But all of this depends on me successfully weathering the impending surge.

Hopefully, this unreliable one-way defense can hold out.

As I was thinking this, the earring hanging from my left ear suddenly resonated softly.

I turned around in surprise, and the figure that stepped out gracefully from behind was none other than my mother, Mitchell.

With her eyes closed, she hummed a soft, cheerful tune, and even the strongest winds and rain couldn't drown out her light and lively voice.

A strikingly bright orange magic swirled around her, interspersed with wisps of gold and pure white, making it seem as if folded wings were enveloping her, or as if light was descending from the sky, perfectly embracing her.

As the song drew to a close, my mother, whose clothes were completely dry, opened her eyes and winked at me with those eyes that seemed to sparkle with dazzling light: "My Mimi, I've come in response to your call."

"Whatever you want to do, I will help you."
