Chapter 162 The girl is praying

If all else fails, we can simply turn our attention to the southernmost point of the mountain range.

With the Pegasus as our mode of transport, it only took a few months to fly there. And once we successfully escaped the area shrouded by the magical turbulence, I was able to safely remove the forced transformation spell that had been more than half removed from my body and return to my original human form.

At that time, I can take everyone away with a single Void Walk. Even if taking Shenxue with me would be more difficult, it would still be within my capacity and wouldn't cause any major problems.

Hikari, perhaps thinking of this, suddenly brightened her sleepy eyes for a moment, revealing a shimmering smile.

"The closest point to where we are now..." I recalled for a few seconds the scene I had seen when I received the map of the mountain range from Yao, "It should be the place where the legendary team members lived in seclusion, right? I remember that you have to cross the second highest peak in the Abyss Mountains to see it near the foot of the mountain?"

Hikari nodded: "Yes~ Little Aian might be very happy if she knew."

I turned my head and looked at the little boy resting not far away.

Ai'an, who had used a book as a pillow under her head, had a faint smile on her lips, as if she were dreaming about something. Perhaps she was experiencing the legendary adventure story she had read about in the book and ultimately achieving a happy ending.

"I wish I could have a child like this with the person I love in the future."

Hikari's sudden statement startled me for a moment: "I hope he has beautiful eyes, soft hair, a chubby face like a child, is gentle and polite, but also knows how not to easily submit to the powerful, and preferably can achieve great things."

"Yes, it's good that you like reading, but it would be better if you could be more lively and not so quiet. It's also great that you like games, then I can bring the child's father along, and the three of us can happily play together."

"Ideally, he should also be somewhat innovative, so that when he grows up, he can also become a mage with a bright future; but if he wants to learn martial arts, I will try to introduce him to a good teacher; or he can inherit my skills, I will teach him how to cherish flowers and plants, how to raise cubs, so that he will understand how to cherish nature and life."

"Of course, the most important thing before all that is the child's own wish. If he is unwilling, I will not force him, but if he wants it, I will do my best to support him..."

"Why are you suddenly bringing this up?" I tilted my head in confusion.

Hikari closed her eyes and thought for a few seconds, then revealed a smile far brighter than the campfire: "Hmm... it wasn't entirely sudden, was it? I just kept thinking about it, and suddenly I felt that now is the time to talk to someone about it."

I was getting anxious: "Are you feeling unwell? Or am I pressing on you and making you uncomfortable? Or do you have some hidden illness, and this is your farewell? Tell me quickly, this is very urgent."

"No, no, no, I'm really fine."

The girl reached out and stopped me from jumping down, grabbing me by the middle of my body, turning me around, and as I fell backward, she placed me at eye level with her—my front paws were placed on either side of her soft cheeks, while my hind feet just barely touched her beautifully curved collarbone.

This position left me somewhat at a loss, because if I lowered my head slightly, my beard could touch the warm breath exhaled by the girl.

She looked up and met my gaze: "I was just thinking, ah, there's this big idiot in front of me who's even dumber than me. If I don't make things clear, I'm afraid he'll never realize it."

"Honestly~ They're still pretending to be clueless even now. Is it that they genuinely didn't notice, or that they've been watching all along but are deliberately ignoring it?"

I turned my head left and right, but I still couldn't figure out who she was talking about.

"Fine, I've decided to give him another chance." She pulled me into her arms, rolled over to her side, and laid me comfortably on her arm. "I really hope this big idiot realizes it soon..."

I twitched my ears, but remained silent for a long time.

While I held my breath and waited, the person in front of me gradually began to breathe slowly and deeply. After a while, I opened my eyes and saw that the girl really had no intention of continuing to communicate. So I quietly slipped out of her relaxed embrace, shook my slightly messy short hair, and then lightly jumped to the other side to cover the girl with the blanket that had fallen.

The girl's slightly furrowed brows relaxed, and she subconsciously hugged the edge of the blanket, gently rubbing her soft cheek against it.

Perhaps I'm just really tired.

I don't know how long I slept.

After carefully surveying the cave and finding nothing particularly noteworthy, I waved my claws, summoning a gentle breeze to replenish the somewhat thin oxygen in the cave. I then replaced the dying campfire with a more environmentally friendly and healthy magical fire before slowly walking along the path near the edge, past the Pegasus lying across the cave entrance, and heading towards the outside of the cave.

The alert Pegasus leader opened its eyes, glanced at me, snorted, and paid no further attention. It simply changed its position, closed its eyelids again, and fell into a deep sleep like its other brethren.

Because it was still at a high altitude and in the wilderness at night, the air outside the cave was quite cold, which made me shiver involuntarily and barely manage to tuck the hair that had stood on end.

Fortunately, the paws didn't feel cold much.

I looked around and saw that this seemed to be a natural cave deep in the woods. The trees in front of me were not as lush as the spruce forest I had passed before, but they were of many different kinds. Even just by sniffing the air that was carried by the wind, I could clearly smell the scents of animals such as deer, goats, unicorn rabbits, and roe deer.
