Chapter 119 Synchronization Begins

Chapter 119 Synchronization Begins

After saying goodnight to the others, as midnight approached, I returned to the room. Before I even turned on the light, I saw a pair of bright, gleaming eyes on the floor, and a small, eerie patch of color rose up beside them. Startled, I instinctively took a small step back.

When I came to my senses, I realized that it was actually a hunting dog and a cat that had been out in the wild all day, lifting their heads from the cashmere carpet in the house and looking at me expectantly.

I don't know when they came back.

I first looked around the room to make sure there was nothing strange. Without thinking of turning on the light, I simply groped my way into the room in the dark. I picked up the two little ones by the light of the rising fire, looked them over carefully, and only felt a little relieved after confirming that they were not injured.

I felt slightly sleepy, but I didn't immediately want to collapse onto the soft bed and drift off to sleep.

Since we have some free time now, we should definitely make use of it.

For example, explore the newly acquired, fresh and exciting [Simulated Law Ring].

I'm genuinely curious about this thing that defies easy categorization. From its materials and internal structure to its working methods and operational rules.

After the order was placed, my supervisor repeatedly told me that the things that were about to be delivered to me would definitely please me, and I also had doubts about the contents written on the accompanying letter.

[Everything presented inside this finished product is not reality]... What is the basis for this statement?

I felt uneasy, but thinking about it too much was useless; I could only understand it by experiencing it firsthand.

It might be a technique that has been lost for a long time.

But before that, I need to find a comfortable place to sit down, so I don't end up standing there spacing out. My legs will get sore after a while.

The interior of the hot spring cabin was quite simple, with mostly wooden tables and chairs. Although soft cashmere blankets and quilts were laid on the floor and bed, it was still far from the plush and cozy atmosphere of the library. I slept fairly comfortably last night, but if I were to spend some time there, I would have to find a way to make it more to my liking.

But using only the hides from the hunter didn't feel right... I thought for two seconds, then decisively discarded the few pelts in my hand and instead found two simple square cloths in the cabinet next to me, and pulled out a handful of colorful feathers from the bundle piled up next to me.

Most of these feathers are snow-white, collected by Hikari while grooming the pegasi's wings and fur over the past two days. The remaining portion was found among the spoils given to me by Miyuki, and I have no idea what kind of creature they belong to or what their purpose is. With all the magic attached to them gone, these feathers, whose only redeeming quality is their softness, are perfect for stuffing simple mats.

The needlework skills I learned from my mother finally came in handy after a long time. Although the stitches were a bit crooked, they were still usable.

"It's just too prickly..."

It's hard not to frown at the constant prickling sensation on my butt. I should have trimmed all the feather tips. I didn't think about being so meticulous when I started working on it. In the end, I had to drag the leather that I had left aside back and cover the surface with it to get it over with.

In the end, only the fiery red feather retrieved from the trap remained. The fire-attribute magic wrapped around it made people worry that if it were mixed with the others, it might cause a significant fire.

With everything ready, I picked up the curious cat that was jumping on the mat and kneading, and tucked it into the blanket. I then rolled the curious hound that was following behind me into a ball with a cashmere blanket, ignoring their feigned pitiful whimpers. Only then did I feel at ease to open the resealed package and take out the simulated magic ring stored inside.

In the small house where only the faint moonlight streamed in through the window, the light emitted by the [Simulated Magic Ring], though dim, was far brighter than the moonlight. Almost the instant the box was opened, it filled half the room, illuminating all the curious eyes that were watching.

The moment I sat back in the chair with the feather-cushioned backrest, feeling radiant, the two little ones once again broke free from their restraints, squatted down in front of me, and tilted their heads to examine the thing that was constantly emitting light.

Left with no other choice, I had to carefully explain the precautions to them: "This isn't a toy for you. It might be fragile, so be careful not to touch it. Now, I need to check the properties of this thing. Just stay here and wait for me, okay?"

The intelligent hunting dog nodded clearly.

The cat responded with a meow, then landed on my lap, settling down comfortably. It even turned its head to look at me, as if to indicate that I didn't need to pay attention to its presence.

Okay, just don't move around.

After checking the halo in my hand repeatedly to make sure there were no extra seams or buttons, I took a short, deep breath with a hint of trepidation. After confirming that all the protective measures I had put on were working properly, I closed my eyes and tried to resonate with the tiny spiritual entities that existed inside the halo.

This isn't difficult. Although it's so minute that it's almost imperceptible to the senses, the results of analyzing the fluctuations within the target are remarkably simple once the target is aimed at. It's like sensing the vast天地 (heaven and earth) around you, or the unconscious plants and trees around you; it can be done with just a slight adjustment, and it's even simpler than the previous memory synchronization with the core spirit.

Then, once again, after a brief dizziness, a slight sense of separation and disorientation came from my consciousness, and everything went black in front of me.

It was as if I had fallen into a void where there was no concept of light. The faint moonlight that I could feel through my eyelids had disappeared. All I could see was a deep black curtain, and I could no longer hear a sound.
