End of Chapter 275

A sudden clap of thunder struck the earth, the deafening roar plunging everything into silence. The dazzling light, after its brief moment of brilliance, left only a faint glimmer before quickly fading into darkness.

For a long time, I couldn't clearly tell where I was. Only the dark red notification box, which still indicated that time was passing, remained in a corner of my vision, reminding me that I was still stuck in the same place, like a persistent, incurable disease.

Although I have many guesses about what will happen, seeing is believing in everything.

The information transmitted by the senses, which were interfered with by the intense burst of magic, was also extremely vague. The only thing that could be confirmed was that the people around him were not affected too much.

During the long yet fleeting time of waiting for my senses to return, I observed the ever-decreasing time, like sand in an hourglass, with a critical mind, while silently praying in my heart.

I hope everything goes as smoothly as I wish.

I'm not sure if I'm standing or sitting. It feels like someone is constantly pulling at my body, moving me from side to side, or checking my condition. Maybe they're all panicking right now? Seeing someone who was full of energy just a moment ago now being pushed and shoved like a broken puppet, I would panic too.

Then I felt a soft, warm touch on my numb fingertips. Fine downy hairs darted back and forth between my fingers, tickling me a little, and their weight felt vaguely familiar. It must be Feifei.

A loud buzzing sound came from beside my ears, unbearable for my newly reconnected auditory nerves. Then, a blurry light appeared before my eyes.

I tried to open my eyes as I had before, but to my surprise, I found that I already had my eyes open and my face was slightly warm.

It couldn't be because the lightning I glimpsed was too dazzling, causing me to tear up, could it? It's a bit embarrassing, but the outcome should be good.

Before I could fully regain my senses from the daze, something radiating a gentle glow appeared before me. Then, the soft and gentle presence covered my face, obscuring my vision and immersing me in a shimmering sensation like soaking in a hot spring.

"...Brother Uriel! Can you hear me?"

Piercing through the tinnitus that had been cleared, the boy's clear voice rang out nearby. With his eyes now able to see the soft light and his vision improved considerably, he spotted the boy's anxious face surrounded by the glowing light.

The felled forest in the distance was now shrouded in darkness, as if swallowed by something, silent and still, making it impossible to see what had happened. The regained senses confirmed the arrival of the pursuing elves; aside from a few who had already died, most were severely wounded and paralyzed, lying on the scorched, muddy ground, their bodies crackling with electricity.

I nodded slightly, and the boy quickly breathed a sigh of relief. Then, he straightened his face and asked me seriously, "Can you still confirm how many this is?"

He glanced at the outstretched finger and smiled helplessly: "Two."

"Yeah, it's number two, as expected... wait a minute?"

"I was right about everything, so why are you so surprised?"

"Isn't it said that people who have just woken up from a concussion can't recognize numbers? How come he's perfectly fine..."

"It's not a concussion... I was just momentarily blinded by the light. Don't overthink it."

Casting spells requires concentration, and because I was trying to confirm the effect, I didn't close my eyes in time, so that's how it happened.

Sheng muttered in surprise, but quickly regained his composure: "Well, anyway, it's good that everything's alright. I was really startled when I saw my older brother suddenly fall down."

"That's why my magic suddenly ran out. Did you help me stabilize myself just now? Thank you."

I thanked it and patted the little guy who had snuggled into my arms. The warmth I had just received also came from the little guy, which at least prevented me from feeling too panicked and lonely when I lost my sight. I should thank it too.

The sword demon, who had previously drawn his sword as if about to strike, had withdrawn it and silently walked to the side to check. Perhaps because he was recalling unpleasant memories, his brows were furrowed, and he kept glancing in their direction. How many times had they worked together? Could this guy really be that vengeful?

Fortunately, it didn't come at us directly with a sword strike in the end. Otherwise, with most of our forces crippled, we definitely wouldn't have been able to defend against it. Besides, I'm truly as fragile as paper right now.

After relaying what I had done to the others, the remaining few on guard breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing that I had paralyzed all the pursuing elves. They were so exhausted that they almost collapsed to the ground. Fortunately, several branches left nearby to assist in the defense quickly reached out and stabilized their bodies, preventing them from piling up together.

The task has been confirmed, and there are less than five minutes left.

Since those bewitched guys couldn't quickly recover from their paralysis and stand up to attack us, they simply pulled out some jerky they had made earlier on the way and started gnawing on it to replenish their strength.

We don't know what will happen next, so taking precautions in advance is the right approach.

The sword demon, who had been patrolling the area, seemed to have confirmed the success. He raised and lowered the Dragon Slayer Sword several times, thankfully without getting any more blood on it. It seemed he had kept his promise to us.

She smiled gratefully at him, but the guy just grunted, picked up his sword, and went to the other side, seemingly also wanting to wait and see what would happen next.
