Chapter 10 Taking the Initiative to Start a Conversation 8/21
Kwon Ji-yong couldn't resist stopping his car next to An Ru-feng and striking up a conversation: "Miss An, are you going home? Do you need a ride?"
Anru Feng took a walk on the street near the sushi restaurant. It was about a 20-minute walk home, and only a few minutes by car.
An Rufeng turned her head and saw that it was Quan Zhilong, and was surprised.
They seem to always run into each other.
"Captain, thank you, but no need. I'll walk home." An Rufeng declined his offer.
"Okay," Kwon Ji-yong said without further ado, "then goodbye."
"goodbye."
Kwon Ji-yong stepped on the gas and drove past An Yeo-feng, soon disappearing from sight.
The maknae (youngest member) noticed that Jiyong (younger brother) hasn't been as enthusiastic about going to nightclubs lately.
Although he was a little annoyed that girls would be attracted to him when he went to nightclubs with Zhilong, he was even more annoyed that he couldn't go out and have fun.
The members also noticed that recently, whenever he was in the dorm, this guy would go out to eat on time.
And there's no need for the youngest member to buy food anymore; he brings them food back every time he goes out.
They always bring the same thing, which is sushi. After tasting it many times, they can be sure it comes from the same sushi restaurant.
They couldn't take it anymore.
"Should I bring you some food?" Kwon Ji-yong asked the members before leaving, after putting on sunglasses and a mask and getting ready.
"Still sushi?" Tap asked.
Kwon Ji-yong nodded.
The members all shook their heads and refused.
They were all tired of it. Although the sushi was still quite delicious, it wasn't delicious enough to eat every day!
I don't know how Jiyong hasn't gotten tired of eating yet!
"Alright then, you unlucky guy." Kwon Ji-yong shrugged and went out.
Kwon Ji-yong drove to the sushi restaurant and saw An Yeo-poong sitting in her usual spot, waiting for her food.
Kwon Ji-yong greeted her.
An Rufeng looked at the person in front of her, who was wearing sunglasses and a mask, and knew that it was Kwon Ji-yong. She smiled and responded politely.
When he first greeted her in this manner, she almost didn't recognize him as the captain of the city.
However, he has been coming to this sushi restaurant often these days, always dressed like this, and she has gotten used to it now.
The captain of the city that An Rufeng often met was the person she knew best among all the people she categorized as people she would never get to know further.
Generally speaking, Anru Feng doesn't even want to talk to people she's not interested in or want to know, let alone get to know them.
But Quan Zhilong was different. As the captain of Dacheng, he was still a partner of An Rufeng. After meeting him several times, An Rufeng got to know him a little bit, intentionally or unintentionally.
To be honest, if he hadn't disliked her at their first meeting, based on what she knew about Kwon Ji-yong, plus the fact that she drew his painting and he coincidentally drew hers, and that they often ran into each other.
Given the number of low-probability events that occurred, and considering her belief in fate, her romantic nature, and her enjoyment of making friends with strangers, she would have already taken the initiative to befriend him, inviting him to meals and activities together.
But there are no "what ifs." The fact is that he showed his dislike for her from the very first time they met.
Although Kwon Ji-yong always takes the initiative to greet people, who knows if it's just out of politeness?
He's an artist, a top-tier artist, and he has excellent emotional control.
She wouldn't ask someone who doesn't like her to be friends, because it's obvious that she would be rejected and embarrassed, isn't it?
After exchanging the usual greetings, Kwon Ji-yong chose a corner seat to sit down.
An Rufeng chatted with a friend on her phone and found a dinner buddy, but the friend had something to do today and couldn't come. An Rufeng could only pass the time while waiting.
"Miss, may I sit at the same table with you?" A gentle voice suddenly rang in An Rufeng's ears.
Anru Feng looked up and saw a tall, handsome young man in a well-tailored suit. He looked mature and composed, with a gentle and refined smile.
An Rufeng nodded: "Yes, please sit down."
She likes gentle people.
The man smiled gently at An Rufeng before sitting down.
"Hello, I'm Shota Nakamura, nice to meet you." He introduced himself, speaking at a steady pace and in a calm voice that made people feel comfortable and relaxed.
"Hello, Nakamura Shota, I'm An Rufeng, nice to meet you," An Rufeng replied with a smile.
Kwon Ji-yong sat at a spot not too far from An Joo-bong, just enough to hear their conversation.
When Nakamura Shota struck up a conversation with An Rufeng, he unconsciously sat up straight.
When An Rufeng asked him to sit down and addressed him by his full name, he couldn't help but frown.
Seeing her talking to Nakamura Shota, listening attentively to his words and nodding occasionally, Kwon Ji-yong's expression became solemn, even to himself.
As the conversation continued, An Rufeng gradually leaned back in her chair, listening to the other person with a smile, her eyes no longer fixed on Nakamura Shota. Quan Zhilong's shoulders unconsciously slumped.
He slowly resumed eating the food on the table.
Just as he expected, after the meal, when Nakamura Shota asked An Rufeng for her number before leaving, she only asked him to give her the number.
Kwon Ji-yong knew that An Joo-bong was not interested after getting to know him, and was politely declining to get to know him further.
Over the past few days, observing An Rufeng approaching others or being approached by others, he has come to understand that if she wants to get to know someone, she will give them her own number instead of exchanging theirs.
Watching An Rufeng finish her meal and walk away, her figure receding into the distance, Quan Zhilong suddenly lost his appetite again.
When Kwon Ji-yong returned to the dormitory, the other four had gone out to find food and had not yet returned.
The room was quiet. Kwon Ji-yong curled up on the sofa, his mood as quiet and heavy as the room itself.
When the four members returned home, they saw that their captain looked upset.
Taeyang had already noticed that Kwon Ji-yong had been acting strangely lately, with his mood fluctuating between good and bad. Considering that he seemed to have been in contact with someone recently, and seeing him looking so downcast, she guessed that he was troubled by love.
He couldn't help but ask, "Zhilong, have you fallen in love again? Is it that Miss Xizi? I think she likes you quite a bit. Do you have any concerns?"
Kwon Ji-yong looked up upon hearing this, puzzled: "Xi Zi-sang?"
Tapu chimed in, "It's not Miss Xizi, it's Miss An!" He asserted, "Zhilong is definitely troubled by Miss An!"
Taiyang asked in surprise, "Miss An?"
He turned to look at Kwon Ji-yong and found that he was in low spirits again, clearly Tap was right.
"Is your pursuit not going well?" The maknae looked like he was about to give Kwon Jiyong some advice. "Although you have a lot of dating experience, with so many of us here, giving you some suggestions might give you some inspiration!"
Taiyang nodded in agreement.
Kwon Ji-yong hesitated for a moment before admitting, "I didn't pursue Miss Ahn."
Tap exclaimed in disbelief, "It's been so long since the last time, and you still haven't started pursuing Miss Ann? This isn't like you at all!"
Kwon Ji-yong was speechless at Tap's matter-of-fact attitude. After a long while, he said, "When did I say I wanted to pursue Miss Ahn?"
Hearing that Kwon Ji-yong didn't seem to be pursuing her, Tae-yang was confused and asked, "You must be really upset about Miss An right now, so why don't you go for it?"
When it comes to people who are interested, Ji-ryong has always been quite decisive, taking initiative and never hesitating. When did he become so slow?
Since the topic had already come up, Kwon Ji-yong didn't hide anything: "Miss An reminds me of Kim Jin-ah."
Upon hearing this, Taiyang immediately understood his concerns.
He had also met Miss An once at a nightclub. After thinking about it, he realized that she was indeed the same type of person as Kim Jin-ah – a noble swan who had everything and lacked nothing.
Taiyang comforted him, "If you like her, go for it! You were so brave and fearless when you pursued Jin Zhen'er before. Now that you're even more outstanding, you should have even more courage!"
Kwon Ji-yong said softly, "Brave, but failed."
Taiyang patted him on the shoulder: "You're not the same person you used to be. You're now the leader of a top boy band! You've managed to lead your team to the top, which is such a difficult thing."
Tap expressed his support: "Zhilong, I support you in pursuing Miss An. I believe you will win her over. When the time comes, you should try to win Miss An's favor and give me one of her paintings."
Kwon Ji-yong scratched his head in frustration and said to Tap, "Hyung, you know how difficult it is to get close to Miss Ahn. She doesn't even want to be friends with me, let alone boyfriend and girlfriend!"
Da Cheng, who had been listening quietly, was surprised to hear this and exclaimed, "Miss An is quite approachable, isn't she?"
Taeyang had only met An Rufeng once and didn't know much about her. The maknae went to the first floor that day and didn't see An Rufeng at all. The two were puzzled by the different accounts from both sides.
Tap nodded in agreement that Anru was difficult to approach. He had wanted to get closer to Miss An, but she wouldn't give him the chance, so he could only hope that Zhilong would win her over.
Da Cheng was puzzled: "But Miss An often sends me messages to chat, and sometimes she even asks me to go out. She's quite enthusiastic."
Kwon Ji-yong told Dae-sung the truth: "Miss An has never sent me a single message."
"Huh?" Da Cheng was shocked. Not even a single message? Even if she was just a fan, "Not even a greeting?"
Kwon Ji-yong nodded slightly.
He said to Da Cheng, "Miss An is enthusiastic towards you because she is interested in you. She's already doing well if she says a word to someone she's not interested in. As for me, in her heart, I'm just your captain. She doesn't want to know anything about me and doesn't care."
Da Cheng couldn't believe it; he had always thought Miss An was a warm and friendly person.
In the end, the conversation fizzled out.
In the middle of the night, Kwon Ji-yong tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep.
His mind was filled with images of Anru Feng chatting and laughing with different strangers in the restaurant these past few days, and a sense of loss and grievance welled up inside him for no reason.
She can decide to strike up a conversation with a stranger at a glance, smile easily and happily at strangers she has just met, and become friends in just a few words, but she is polite and distant to him, even if he greets her several times.
She easily made friends with so many people, but why wasn't he among them? He was so dazzling and radiant, not someone who could be ignored, was he?
Why can you strike up a conversation with anyone, but choose to be cold to him?
She might give someone her phone number just because they're wearing clothes of the same color as her, invite them for afternoon tea, and thus become close.
Wow! If they can get close like this, why can't there be one more of him?
Is he really that bad? He can't even match the color of a piece of clothing?!
Suddenly, Kwon Ji-yong sat up in bed, unwilling to accept it.
He's Kwon Ji-yong, the leader of the top boy group BigBang. How could he be afraid to pursue the person he likes?
He went to his desk, took out a notebook, and began to list his plans for pursuing her.
First, I had to get close to her. Oh dear, I failed miserably on the very first step. She wasn't interested in me, so I couldn't get close at all.
She so clearly told others not to enter her world, truly giving them no hope or illusion whatsoever.
She displays positive qualities such as sincerity. If she's not interested, she simply doesn't pay attention.
Keep trying to make yourself noticed. If you're not interested, doing so will only make you disliked.
Express your feelings directly and sincerely. If you don't get interested, people will say you're cheap!
Anru Feng dislikes physical contact. She doesn't want any casual skinship, like putting her hand behind her back or whispering in her ear. Otherwise, she'll be disliked, no, beaten up!
As he wrote, Kwon Ji-yong looked at the list and realized that none of them were feasible.
Oh really, is Anjou Feng here to ward him off?
