Deliver documents to the boss's house
After the chaos in the dormitory with Xiao Jin that day, Lu Zhian didn't know how to face Xiao Yuan for several days. Every morning, the routine good morning kiss made him so guilty that he dared not look Xiao Yuan in the eye. He would always quickly touch Xiao Yuan's eyes and then look away, as if he had done something terribly wrong.
One evening after get off work, he received a message from his secretary, Lin Wei:
[Lin Wei: Assistant Lu, I'm sorry to bother you, but I have an urgent matter and can't leave. I have an urgent document that needs to be delivered to President Xiao's house immediately. I'll send you the address. Could you please deliver it for me?]
Lu Zhian looked at his phone, his heart skipping a beat. Go to Xiao Yuan's house? His instinct was to refuse, but Sister Lin Wei had always been very kind to him, and her words were so earnest. He couldn't find a reason to decline, so he reluctantly replied: "Okay, Sister Lin Wei, send me the address."
Following the address Lin Wei sent him, he arrived at a quiet, upscale villa area and stood in front of a two-story villa with a simple yet modern design. He took a deep breath and rang the doorbell.
While waiting, he silently rehearsed in his mind what to say when he saw Xiao Yuan and how to explain delivering the documents.
The door opened.
The person standing at the door was dressed in comfortable gray pajamas, with an upright posture and a stern face—it was "Xiao Yuan".
Lu Zhian was about to call out "Boss" instinctively, but the words caught in his throat. An inexplicable intuition told him that something was wrong with the person in front of him. Although he was dressed casually in his home clothes, his eyes and the aura he exuded seemed more aggressive than Xiao Yuan's usual self.
While he was still in a daze, the man at the door stepped aside and said in a calm tone, "Come in."
Lu Zhian suppressed the strange feeling in his heart and followed them inside with his head down. The interior of the villa was decorated in a minimalist style with cool colors, making it appear spacious and clean.
He was led into the living room, and then his steps and breathing stopped.
There was another person sitting on the large sofa in the center of the living room!
They were both dressed in gray loungewear, had the same aloof and extraordinary face, and the same deep gray-blue eyes.
Two "Xiao Yuan"s!
Lu Zhian's mind went completely blank, as if struck by lightning. He looked at the one by the door, then at the one on the sofa—the same face, the same figure, even the same clothes! He felt like he was looking in a malfunctioning mirror.
In a flash, Lu Zhian made a judgment based on an almost instinctive intuition. He quickly walked to the sofa, placed the file folder he was carrying on the coffee table, and tried to make his voice sound normal:
"Sister Lin Wei can't leave, so I've come to bring you the documents." He said this to the person on the sofa.
An eerie silence fell over the living room.
Sitting on the sofa, Xiao Yuan didn't move or look at the document. He simply raised his eyes slightly, looked at Lu Zhian who was standing awkwardly in front of the coffee table, and asked a question that made Lu Zhian's heart stop: "Who are you giving the document to?" He paused, his gaze seemingly glancing towards the door before returning to Lu Zhian's face.
Lu Zhian was taken aback by the question, then answered with great certainty, his finger even unconsciously pointing to Xiao Yuan on the sofa:
"for you."
The moment he finished speaking, he clearly heard a very soft, displeased snort coming from the direction of the door behind him.
Xiao Yuan, sitting on the sofa, had a very faint smile on his lips.
Lu Zhian stood frozen in place, belatedly realizing that he seemed to have been drawn into a silent contest between the twins. And now, he was standing at the eye of the storm.
