Extra 6: Tea room
The afternoon sun shone through the spacious floor-to-ceiling windows of Chen Yanzhi's home, illuminating the tea room with warmth and brightness. The air was filled with the elegant aroma of tea, adding a touch of ethereal beauty to the atmosphere.
Lu Zhian sat on the soft cushion, feeling that it was much more crowded than the last time he came here.
Sitting on either side of him were Xiao Yuan and Xiao Jin. Xiao Yuan was composed, but his knees were casually touching Lu Zhian's, making his presence very noticeable; Xiao Jin was more relaxed, with his arm draped over the back of the sofa behind Lu Zhian, forming a semi-enclosed posture.
Across from them, Gu Yingshen also arrived, accompanied by Yin Qin, whose brows were composed but whose gaze was always subtly fixed on Gu Yingshen.
Today, however, the person brewing the tea is Yan Ci.
He wore a moon-white Chinese-style shirt, and his dark hair was loosely tied up with a simple jade hairpin, with a few strands hanging down beside his cheeks, making his face even more exquisite and otherworldly.
His tea-making movements were fluid and elegant, almost like art, with a natural charm and grace in every stroke of his fingertips.
Looking at Yan Ci, Lu Zhian couldn't help but marvel: This is the fox that can turn into a human... Indeed, she's so beautiful.
Despite the fragrant aroma of tea, the atmosphere was far from completely peaceful.
Gu Yingshen was currently staring at Xiao Jin beside Lu Zhian.
“The tail,” Gu Yingshen said, his voice flat but with a stubborn undertone, “let me touch it.”
Xiao Jin's eyes narrowed instantly, like a leopard whose territory had been invaded, and he refused decisively: "No." His tone was stiff, with obvious rejection.
The air between the two instantly tightened, and a tense atmosphere began to permeate the air.
Just when Lu Zhian thought the two were about to fight, and even started thinking about how to mediate or stay away, the usually quiet and gentle Shen Yanzhi suddenly moved.
His movements were incredibly fast and natural, as if he had been prepared all along. He pulled out a small, bright red fox with lively eyes from somewhere and, without hesitation, placed it into Gu Yingshen's arms.
The little red fox was very well-behaved. It didn't struggle when it was handed to him. Instead, it rubbed its furry head against Gu Yingshen's hand.
Gu Yingshen subconsciously caught it, looked down at the warm and soft bundle in his arms, and stroked the fluffy tail that felt so good to the touch. The stubborn look on his face disappeared at a visible speed, and he returned to that slightly empty calm.
He gently stroked the fur of the little fox in his arms with one hand, while his other hand naturally reached out and grasped Yin Qin's hand beside him.
Yin Qin turned his hand and enveloped his slightly cool fingers in his warm palm.
A potential conflict was thus effortlessly resolved by Shen Yanzhi.
The tea room returned to tranquility, with only the sound of Yan Ci pouring tea and the faint aroma of tea remaining. Xiao Jin pursed his lips, withdrew his gaze, and moved even closer to Lu Zhian.
