97. Things I've always worried about

97. Things I’ve always worried about

After arriving home, Yu Chuanbei initially considered hanging the portrait next to the tulips Ling Ling had painted. But then he thought, "If we were making out in the bedroom with your mom's painting of your dad staring down at us from the wall, it would feel... so nervous." Ling Ling burst into laughter. "Haha, why are you so nervous? Do you think it's unworthy of your gaze?" Yu Chuanbei pouted in disapproval, but decided to hang the painting in the guest bedroom. Ling Ling was admiring the painting when a tall figure suddenly blocked the light and leaned down to place a light kiss on her forehead. "Didn't you say you didn't dare make out with me in front of my parents' paintings? Why are you so brave now?" Ling Ling asked provocatively, grabbing the collar of his shirt. "When I'm making out with you now, it's not courage, but impulse. I'm sure the old lady will understand." He smirked, picked her up by the waist, held her on his hips, kicked open the guest bedroom door, walked to their bedroom, and pressed her onto the soft bed. The longing for their long separation gave way to passionate kisses and fervent caresses. "Do you know how much I've missed you?" Yu Chuanbei bit her earlobe, panting in her ear. "How much?" She twisted his head, eyes watering, asking knowingly. "Guess." He pinched her chin, hesitating whether to kiss her or not, playing hard to get. "I don't like guessing." She actually pulled away, but he wouldn't let her, holding her body again. "I do," he said forcefully. She was completely conquered by him, her pride crumbling like a fortress, and she surrendered willingly. *~*~*~*~*~*~~ Everyone has that "Oh my god" moment—the door closes automatically while she's picking up takeout. Ling Ling was wearing coral fleece pajamas and cotton slippers with cat-shaped patterns. Luckily, she had her phone handy while discussing the copy with Gu Chuqi, so she could contact Yu Chuanbei. Of course, if she hadn't, she wouldn't have been so busy outside. Unfortunately, she couldn't get through to him, but Ling Ling discovered that their shared "Find Friends" location function showed him at a KTV near her home. Late one evening in late autumn, Ling Ling, slippers on, abruptly walked down a deserted commercial street. She asked the front desk for the room where Yu Chuanbei was staying, and tried calling several times before going, but still no one answered. She had no choice but to go, hoping to run into Yu Chuanbei, grab the key, and run, without running into his companions. Otherwise, she would be too embarrassed to face anyone in her current state. Arriving at the door, Ling Ling rubbed against the glass window and peeked inside. She had thought that in a KTV, there was no...

After arriving home, Yu Chuanbei initially wanted to hang the portrait next to the tulips Ling Ling had drawn earlier, but then he thought something was amiss: "If we were making out in the bedroom and your mom's painting of your dad was staring at us from the wall, it would feel... so tense."

Ling Ling burst into laughter at his amusement, "Haha, why are you so nervous? What do you think is not worth seeing?"

Yu Chuanbei pouted in dissatisfaction, but still decided to hang the painting in the guest bedroom.

Ling Ling was looking down at the painting when suddenly a tall figure blocked the light and lowered his head to give her a light kiss on the forehead.

"Didn't you say you didn't dare to be intimate with me in front of my parents' paintings? Why are you brave enough now?" Ling Ling asked provocatively, pulling the corner of his shirt collar.

"When I'm intimate with you now, I'm not using courage, but impulse. The old man will definitely understand me." He picked her up by the waist with a wicked smile, held her on his waist, kicked open the door of the guest bedroom, walked towards their bedroom, and pressed her on the soft bed.

The longing for longing after long separation turned into passionate kisses and passionate caresses.

"Do you know how much I miss you?" Yu Chuanbei bit her earlobe and asked in her ear with a gasp.

"How much?" She held his head, her eyes full of longing, and asked knowingly.

"Guess." He pinched her chin, wanting to kiss her but not to, playing hard to get.

"I don't like guessing." She actually pulled away and tried to leave, but he was not willing to let her go and held her body again.

"I thought so." He said forcefully.

She was completely conquered by him, her pride became a collapsing city, and she surrendered willingly.

*~*~*~*~*~*~

We all have that “holy shit” moment – the door slams shut while we’re picking up our takeout.

At this moment, Ling Ling was wearing coral fleece pajamas and cat-head cotton slippers.

Fortunately, she was holding a mobile phone while discussing the copy with Gu Chuqi, so she still had a mobile phone to contact Yu Chuanbei. Of course, if it weren't for this, she wouldn't have been so busy outside.

Unfortunately, she couldn't get through to him, but Ling Ling discovered that the "Find Friends" location function they shared showed that he was at a KTV near her home. Late one night in late autumn, Ling Ling walked abruptly on the deserted commercial street in her slippers.

She asked at the front desk where Yu Chuanbei was staying, and tried calling several times before going, but still no one answered. She had no choice but to go, hoping to run into Yu Chuanbei, grab the key, and run, but not run into his companions. Otherwise, she would be too embarrassed to face anyone in her current state.

Arriving at the door of the private room, Ling Ling rubbed against the glass window and peeked in. She had assumed that KTV was just about drinking, singing, and dancing, just like she had been to with her colleagues and friends in the past.

But she never expected the vibrant atmosphere inside, with men and women singing and dancing passionately, led by Yu Chuanbei. He embraced women on all sides, adoring them. He also spared no effort in showcasing his charm, singing to them, hugging them, caressing their heads, and kissing their hair.

Ling Ling gasped. She stood frozen at the door, staring intently at the incredibly familiar yet unfamiliar Yu Chuanbei who stood just across the door. The lights in the box were bizarre, the people twisting their bodies fragmented into a thousand illusory faces, yet she felt that none of them was the Yu Chuanbei she had always known.

Anger stirred up a surge of blood in her heart and Ling Ling was about to turn around and leave. She took a last look at Yu Chuanbei, but she didn't expect to meet his eyes.

He was a little dazed and stunned for a few seconds, then he immediately recognized her and chased after her.

"Ling? Why are you here?" His drunken staggering steps could not catch up with her angry and fast steps.

She completely ignored him and just wanted to rush out of this entertainment place that made her feel sick.

The cold wind outside made his mind clear up a lot. He understood her outfit, took out a bunch of keys from his trouser pocket, and said, "Did you forget to bring your house keys? Here you go."

Ling Ling rudely pushed away his outstretched hand, and the key fell to the ground.

"No, I don't have a home." She said this sadly, and her tears fell into the cold air like the bunch of keys.

Yu Chuanbei grabbed her arm and explained anxiously, "Those were my very important clients. They just arrived from abroad, and some of them are former classmates of mine. I was able to reach them because of this connection. I needed to quickly build a close relationship with them, so I went a little overboard. This is a very common thing at a dinner party. But that's all. I won't and can't do anything else that crosses the line."

He had spoken, and his explanation was perfectly accurate. Ling Ling didn't argue, curse, or cry. She simply felt incredibly chilled. This man before her had finally shown her something different.

When they first met, Ling Ling hesitated and didn't dare to accept him. She had been worried about this moment - his and her life foundations were different, so the points on which they cared about things were also different.

Yu Chuanbei didn't think that such a noisy circle of friends and such close contact with outsiders were unforgivable in a relationship. It was just an ordinary social event. But in Ling Ling's world, she and those who shared the same ideals as her should not be willing to attend such occasions.

At this point, Ling Ling had nothing to say. She looked at him coldly, walked to the side of the road, hailed a taxi, and got in.

Seeing that she would not change her mind, Yu Chuanbei had no choice but to pick up the keys that had fallen on the ground and said, "Then take the keys and go home first. I'm sorry I really can't leave with you. The people in the private room are very important to my next project."

Ling Ling pushed the key out of his hand, letting it fall to the ground again in an undignified manner. "No need. I'm not going back. Just focus on your work." She closed the car window and signaled the driver to leave quickly.

Seeing Ling Ling's disheveled appearance as she wandered into her small, 20-square-meter bungalow, Hao Shengnan didn't dare ask a single question. Ling Ling was as dejected as the old bricks at the entrance of the alley, a particularly inconspicuous vessel in this old house, and its interior was completely empty.

Anyone can see that this is a classic screen image after a quarrel with a boyfriend. Even the proud Ling Ling is no exception.

Shengnan let Lingling sleep in the middle of the big bed, but she just hugged herself and curled up in the corner of the bed, just like her pitiful look every time she was hurt.

"How are you going to work tomorrow in this outfit?" Sheng Nan asked her calmly, hoping that the unshakable work curse would awaken her spirit.

"Go to sleep first, that's tomorrow's business." Ling Ling said this in a sickly voice with a heavy nasal tone.

Shengnan turned off the lights and went to sleep, but Lingling couldn't fall asleep at all. The image of the KTV's chaotic scene still swirled in her mind, the dim light blinding her. She didn't know how to calm herself, unable to vent her anger, and with nowhere to vent. This incident wasn't enough to make her think about breaking up; she still had Chuanbei to deal with. She had always known the difference between them. For example, at the KTV party last night, Lingling had reluctantly participated for work, while Chuanbei had been able to enjoy it and let it go.

This matter is like a soft thorn stuck in the throat. No matter how you try to dissolve it, such as steamed buns, rice, vinegar, etc., it is of no use. The thorn is still there. It doesn't hurt much, but it is always bothering you. If you want to remove it, it will not be easy in a short time.

She finally made it to dawn, and a little white light leaked through the window frame, and her depressed soul seemed to be able to breathe.

Ling Ling got up quietly, trying not to disturb Hao Shengnan who was sleeping soundly with his legs spread out.

When she went out, she wrapped herself tightly in her thin home clothes. The late autumn morning was freezing cold.

There was a familiar car parked at the entrance of the alley, and a man was taking a nap in the driver's seat. It was Yu Chuanbei.

She hadn't thought he would come. It would have been great if he hadn't come. She was still angry and felt that she would be at a disadvantage if she forgave him like this.

She walked to his car. He was distracted for a moment, and when he saw that it was her, he quickly got out of the car.

His hair was messy, his eyes were dark, there was a light stubble around his lips, his shirt was half tucked into his belt, and he still smelled of alcohol.

"I'm sorry." He said as he came up to her.

Ling Ling was not prepared to accept his apology. She just said calmly and almost coldly: "You did nothing wrong. The only mistake was that I shouldn't have seen it."

Yu Chuanbei was very tired, and he didn't have the energy to argue or explain anymore, so he could only comfort her and say, "Let's go home first."

The voice in Ling Ling's heart wanted to refuse, but she realized miserably that she had nowhere else to go.

She had no choice but to say, "Did you drive the car here like this last night?"

"No, of course not." Yu Chuanbei hurriedly explained: "I found a designated driver."

"Then let me drive when we get back." Ling Ling walked around him and got into the driver's seat.

She was not very skilled in driving, but luckily there were traffic lights and signs along the way for her to worry about, so she didn't have to think about who was right or wrong in the matter of love for the time being.
