Chapter 38 The Challenge "He just likes me, what did he do wrong?..."

Mu Tingyu admitted that she was the one who first became lustful upon seeing him.

Saying it's compensation or something is probably just an excuse.

After all, she had been thinking about this ever since her failed attempt to steal a kiss last time. Although he beat her to it, it wasn't a big deal.

The reason she was so proactive was because she thought that it was broad daylight, the door was wide open, and Shaoyue and the others might come in at any time. Xingze couldn't possibly keep her kissing him passionately for another thirty minutes.

Moreover, she wasn't particularly lustful; she genuinely intended to just lightly touch her lips.

—That's what she was thinking before she kissed him.

-

The house was quiet, but from time to time, some subtle, ambiguous sounds could be heard coming from the kitchen.

"Hmm..."

She sobbed, her lips forced open, and a tear involuntarily welled up in the corner of her eye.

The man's chest was still burning hot even through his clothes. She was trapped in his strong arms, pressed tightly against him.

A force from his waist and back pressed her forward. She had almost no support, so she had to cling to his shoulders, forced to tilt her head back and endure his scorching breath as if he were conquering territory.

Xing Ze embraced her tightly, his arm across her back, easily lifting her delicate chin, his slightly rough fingertips leaving faint red marks on her skin.

"Wait, wait..."

While Xing Ze let her catch her breath, she finally got a chance to speak, and hurriedly covered his lips with her hand, her breathing extremely unsteady.

She gritted her teeth and whispered, "...Are you a dog? Why did you bite me!"

Xing Ze's face was half covered, his eyelashes drooped, his eyes were dim and unclear, but they were filled with an almost burning focus.

Unable to speak, he could only look down into the girl's beautiful eyes, which were almost glistening with tears, and his Adam's apple bobbed slightly.

Mu Tingyu didn't want to hear his answer. She covered his face tightly, stuck out her tongue and licked her lips, then hissed.

Damn! It looks swollen again!

This won't do, this trend is very wrong, she needs to make a three-point agreement with Xing Ze!

First, we can't kiss like that anytime, anywhere in the future. This kind of kissing can easily lead to trouble. She should be eating right now, but she hasn't even served the porridge yet.

Secondly, you must not bite her when you kiss her, and you must not use too much force, as her lips can no longer withstand such torment.

third......

Xing Ze pressed down hard, his palm touching her lips.

Mu Tingyu's eyes widened instantly.

His eyes were slightly closed, and through his palm, he gently kissed her hand, almost reverently.

Sunlight streamed in through the window, falling on his broad, upright back.

The porridge was already boiling, and a faint gurgling sound could be heard.

He was backlit, his face blurred and soft, his warm breath spraying onto her palm, sending a tingling sensation through her.

Mu Tingyu forgot to blink, her heart skipped a beat for a moment, then started beating faster, almost ringing in her ears.

Then, he stepped back a little.

Mu Tingyu lowered her hand blankly, her eyes somewhat dazed.

Then I watched him turn to the side, expertly reach out and turn off the stove, then turn back—and continue kissing.

"......"

Damn it, is this scumbag addicted?!

She couldn't stand it and was about to bite back in kind when a sound suddenly came from the doorway.

"—Brother Xing, are you in the kitchen?"

Mu Tingyu was startled, recognizing Zhang Xin's voice, and instinctively wanted to turn around.

Xing Ze held her tightly, showing no intention of letting go. He even used his fingers to straighten her face and patted it lightly, signaling her not to lose focus.

Mu Tingyu is a little shy. If her friends saw this kind of explicit scene of her being held in someone's arms and kissed, she would definitely be so embarrassed that she would want to disappear.

She felt a little anxious and pushed Xing Ze's shoulder forcefully.

But the scoundrel remained unmoved, and even kissed her more brazenly.

"......"

She silently reached out and pinched his waist hard.

Xing Ze couldn't help but let out a muffled groan.

At the same time, Zhang Xin's footsteps could be heard, and he soon arrived at the door.

He peeked inside and exclaimed in surprise, "Xiao Mu, you're awake so early?"

Mu Tingyu turned around, smiled awkwardly at him with her lips pursed, and said, "Good morning, Brother Xin. I have class today."

"Oh right, I almost forgot." Zhang Xin scratched his head sheepishly, then greeted another person, "Good morning, Brother Xing. Are you making breakfast?"

Xing Ze, with his back turned, scooped the contents of the pot out while responding.

Zhang Xin asked with concern, "Brother Xing, why does your voice sound so hoarse? Do you have a cold?"

"......"

“Brother Xin,” Mu Tingyu quickly changed the subject, “Is everyone up? Are you having breakfast at home, or are you going to town?”

“They’re all packing their things,” Zhang Xin said. “That’s what I came to say. We’re about to leave. We’ll just stop in town for a bite to eat on the way.”

"Huh?" Mu Tingyu exclaimed in surprise, "They left so soon?"

"Yeah, since you'll be in class for the next few days and won't be able to hang out with us, we won't bother you, Xing-ge."

Mu Tingyu said with some reluctance, "It's so sudden, why didn't A-Yue tell me..."

"We decided to leave last night. We were planning to explore the surrounding area anyway, so we figured we might as well set off earlier."

Mu Tingyu knew that she had to focus on her work and couldn't play with them anymore, so she said, "Then I'll help you tidy up!"

"Oh, no need, just put them away..."

Before Zhang Xin could finish speaking, she had vanished.

“Running so fast…” He scratched his head, turned around and looked at Xing Ze, who was holding a bowl of porridge and looked not very happy.

"Uh...Brother Xing." He spoke somewhat timidly.

Xing Ze gave him a look.

"Well, uh... do you know where Sister Eun went?"

Xing Ze narrowed his eyes and looked him up and down: "What?"

"I didn't mean anything by it!" Zhang Xin felt like a piece of lamb on a rotating grill at a Turkish kebab stand, his face burning. "I just wanted to say goodbye..."

Seeing his unwitting expression, Xing Ze didn't expose him, but simply said, "She's gone."

"Gone?" Zhang Xin asked in surprise. "Last...last night?"

"Um."

His expression turned dejected, but he still clung to a sliver of hope as he asked, "Brother Xing, could you give me Sister En's contact information?"

"......"

The boy in front of her looked innocent and shy, with delicate and handsome features, which was Xing En's type.

Xing Ze, remembering his older sister's tendency to discard him once she was bored, unusually took pity on her and decided to save her from this predicament: "No."

"Ah..." Zhang Xin said disappointedly, "Okay, fine."

"Goodbye, Brother Xing. I'll come see you when I have time."

He walked out of the kitchen with his head drooping and looking dejected.

Xing Ze: "......"

Did Xing En drug him?

How come he's become like this after less than a day of meeting? It's like his soul has been stolen away.

He lowered his eyes, looked at the porridge he was still holding, and sighed helplessly.

...I'm not much better off myself.

I was kissed—it wasn't even a kiss, just a touch on the lips—and I still couldn't resist.

There's no way around it, she's just too adorable.

She's cute when she frowns and glares at him, cute when her cheeks are flushed and her eyes are bright, and even cute when she grins and pinches his waist.

He wasn't bewitched.

It's more like his entire soul remained in her body.

-

Mu Tingyu went out and saw Shaoyue and the others carrying their things back.

"Hey, have you all finished moving? So fast?"

She hadn't noticed when she came downstairs, assuming they weren't up yet.

“Yeah, there’s not much stuff.” Huang Jing smiled and came up to hug her. “Tingbao, come and give me a hug, you won’t be able to hug me anymore.”

Mu Tingyu hugged her affectionately: "Where are you planning to go?"

"I heard there's a natural cave nearby, it should be quite interesting, let's go check it out."

"Then remember to be careful."

"I will!" Huang Jing snuggled against her shoulder. "I'll miss you so much."

Cao Yaxi laughed and said, "Why are you making it sound like a life-or-death separation? It's not like we'll never see each other again."

“After this trip, I’ll be back to the lab. Tingbao might not even come back after her teaching assignment. Oh, by the way,” Huang Jing propped her head up, “Tingbao, are you planning to stay in Hangzhou or go back to your hometown?”

"I don't know yet," Mu Tingyu scratched her cheek. "Maybe she'll travel the world."

"That's great!" Huang Jing exclaimed enviously. "Come back and visit me, this poor guy doing scientific research, when you have time."

Mu Tingyu laughed and readily agreed.

She spoke a few more words with the girls, and when she looked up, she saw Wang Jiale standing not far away watching her.

Both of them were taken aback. Wang Jiale's expression became extremely unnatural, as if he hesitated for a moment before making up his mind to walk over.

The girls noticed something was wrong and turned to look.

Shaoyue asked her, "Do you want to talk to him?"

Actually, Mu Tingyu didn't think there was anything to talk about. She had never been interested in him, and his confession last night was probably just a momentary lapse of judgment; she hadn't taken it to heart. Xing Ze's reaction, however, surprised her.

But since they were classmates after all, she nodded. It would be good to have a chat and get things out of the way.

When the girls saw her nod, they all moved a little further away to give them space.

Wang Jiale walked up to her and the first thing he asked was, "Are you and Xing Ze together?"

Mu Tingyu was taken aback by his directness and hesitated for a moment before answering, "Yes."

"..." Wang Jiale stared at her with a complicated expression. "Do you remember what I said last night?"

Mu Tingyu raised an eyebrow, feigning surprise: "You didn't black out? I thought you were drunk. It's okay, I won't worry about it..."

“I’m serious,” Wang Jiale stepped forward. “I remember every word I said, I remember everything that happened, including Xing Ze, my dear… you remember everything.”

He took a hard breath: "Was it because I was too slow? You two weren't even together when I arrived... If only I had confessed to you sooner..."

"You're underestimating my feelings," Mu Tingyu interrupted him, her tone gentle. "Actually, I already rejected you, didn't I?"

"..." Wang Jiale looked at her with some hurt, "At school, you rejected everyone because you didn't want to be in a relationship, so I thought you would stay single forever. But why, after only a month here, are you already with Xing Ze?"

"There's no reason why." Mu Tingyu shook her head, seemingly somewhat helpless. "If I like someone, I'll like them at first sight. If I don't like someone, I won't like them no matter how many times I look at them. I'm not in a relationship just because I haven't met someone I like yet. I thought I had made myself clear to you."

Her words were so cruel that Wang Jiale's lips trembled slightly: "...You mean, I have no chance anymore, is that right?"

“Yes,” Mu Tingyu answered him affirmatively, “never.”

Wang Jiale fell silent. Her expensive clothes, wrinkled from a hangover, were finally managed to speak after a long pause: "Then...then as friends..."

Upon hearing this, Mu Tingyu's eyes slowly curved into a smile.

"It could have been."

"However—your hostility towards Xing Ze seems a bit too strong?"

The curve of her lips was just right, carrying a hint of coldness: "He just likes me, what did he do wrong?"

Wang Jiale never expected that after a day of fear and trepidation, instead of Xing En's questioning, Mu Tingyu would launch a difficult attack.

He frowned instantly: "Xing Ze told you?"

"How could he tell you even this? Is he even a man...?"

"I have eyes, I can see."

Mu Tingyu recalled Xing Ze's restrained actions that night, wanting to touch her but not daring to, and calmly asked, "So, what did you say to him?"

Wang Jiale opened her mouth, but no sound came out.

Mu Tingyu narrowed her eyes and was about to speak when she suddenly heard a soft laugh behind her.

She realized it almost instantly and turned to look.

Xing Ze leaned against the door, looking at her with relaxed eyebrows and a lingering smile on his lips.

He was holding a bowl of steaming porridge in his hand, and it was unclear how long he had been standing there.

Her ears suddenly felt hot.

Did he hear everything she just said?

Mu Tingyu stood there somewhat bewildered, her gaze drifting as she caught the teasing looks from the girls beside her.

"......"

Xing Ze didn't give Wang Jiale a second glance, keeping his eyes fixed on her. When she looked over, he gently tapped the rim of the bowl with his finger.

A soft voice rang out.

"Dinner's ready."
