Chapter 77 Flying "You little rascal, I just let my eyes slip for a second—..."

The sun, which had been tirelessly hanging in the sky all day, finally began to set in the evening and sank below the horizon.

As night fell, the streetlights on the wide avenue in front of the research institute building lit up at the same time. A gentle breeze blew, the artificial lake rippled, and clusters of lotus flowers swayed in the wind.

The cafeteria behind the building was bright and clean, spacious and well-lit, with tables and chairs neatly arranged. People were queuing in front of a whole row of windows, and the crowds were bustling in twos and threes. The aroma of hot food filled the entire hall.

At a small table by the window, Mu Tingyu was struggling to finish the food that was overflowing from her plate.

While we were eating, another chicken leg fell from the sky.

She was completely exasperated and quickly put the food back in her bowl, emphasizing, "I've really, really had enough! Do you think I can eat that much?"

Xing Ze propped his head up with one hand and looked at her, then put the chicken leg back into her bowl: "Baby, you've worked hard, eat more."

Mu Tingyu: "..."

Her ears turned red, and her heart secretly quickened. Just as she was about to pretend she hadn't heard, the man opposite her asked her in a serious tone, "Are your arms tired? Do you want me to feed you?"

"........"

She poked the poor little chicken leg hard with the tip of her chopsticks and said angrily, "If I wasn't afraid of getting your suit pants dirty, there would definitely be two of my shoe prints on them now."

Xing Ze, with a slight smile in his eyes, naturally stretched out his leg and placed his suit trousers next to her feet, gesturing for her to follow.

"......."

Expensive fabrics are indeed different; after all this fuss, the trouser legs are still perfectly straight, without a single wrinkle.

Mu Tingyu blushed, seemingly lost in thought, and nudged him with her leg, saying, "Let's eat."

This guy is a classic example of a repressed pervert. The moment he buttoned up his shirt, he looked respectable again. Just a moment ago, he was shirtless, but now he's holding her hand and asking if she needs to go home since the office isn't convenient.

—Aren't you going to eat?

Of all things, food is the most important, so she blushed and resolutely refused.

"But the food at your cafeteria is pretty good, it's delicious." She took a bite of the chicken leg with the sweet and savory sauce and mumbled, "And it's not expensive either. I saw you just swiped your meal card?"

"Hmm." Xing Ze pulled a tissue and wiped her mouth. "There were no shrimp."

"I don't eat shrimp every meal. Besides, shrimp tastes best when it's fresh and alive. The cafeteria buys them all, so let's not make things difficult for them." Mu Tingyu tilted her chin up. "Speaking of which, I've only had one meal cooked by you since I came back. When are you going to cook for me again? I want to eat braised pork."

Xing Ze gently touched her face and said softly, "There's been a lot going on in the hospital lately..."

Before he could finish speaking, Mu Tingyu interrupted him: "I was just mentioning it. I know you're busy, and in order not to hinder your efforts to earn money to support your family, I've decided to hold back for now."

Moreover, he had just returned to his post and didn't know how much he would have to take on and adapt to. Mu Tingyu very understandingly touched his hand to comfort him.

Once touched, there was no going back. Xing Ze grabbed her fingers, slowly clenched her whole hand in his palm, and then intertwined their fingers.

Mu Tingyu, being shy, gave an embarrassed tug: "Oh, in the cafeteria... in public..."

Xing Ze held her hand tightly: "I want to hold your hand, is that okay?"

Mu Tingyu: "......."

How could she refuse that sticky, pleading tone? She simply couldn't refuse.

Just then, a man and a woman walked past the table and suddenly stopped.

The middle-aged woman with short hair among the two greeted them, "Hey, Xiao Xing, you're eating here."

Mu Tingyu subconsciously tried to pull her hand back, but Xing Ze held her tightly, preventing her from moving.

Xing Ze nodded politely to the two of them: "Teacher Cui, Teacher Zhao."

Seeing their clasped hands, Cui Ping asked in surprise, "This is...?"

Xing Ze replied, "My girlfriend."

Having no other choice, Mu Tingyu could only smile and nod politely at them.

Cui Ping laughed and teased, "When Lao Xue came over and told us, Bai Ping and I didn't believe it. Bai Ping said Lao Xue was lying to her, how could you find a boyfriend without saying a word... Oh my, such a pretty girl, no wonder she was able to win you over."

Mu Tingyu smiled and said, "Thank you, sister. You have a wonderful temperament too."

Cui Ping was surprised to be called "sister" even though she was over fifty. Her smile grew even brighter: "Young lady, you have such a sweet tongue. Just call me Aunt Cui like Xiao Xing does. How long have you been talking?"

Mu Tingyu thought for a moment: "It's been more than two months."

"Oh, so you started dating before Xiao Xing even came back? Where are you from, young lady? Did you come here with Xiao Xing?"

Xing Ze suddenly picked up the conversation: "She was originally in Hangzhou."

"Oh, what a coincidence."

A middle-aged man standing nearby chimed in with a joke: "These young people have such a good relationship, they even hold hands while eating?"

Mu Tingyu blushed slightly and nodded, suppressing her embarrassment.

The girl looked beautiful and well-behaved, like a porcelain doll. Cui Ping liked her more and more as she looked at her, and asked with a smile, "Have you met the parents yet? When are you planning to get married?"

Mu Tingyu was taken aback, and suddenly felt the hand holding hers tighten a little.

She subconsciously looked across at the other side, only to see Xing Ze casually saying to Cui Ping, "I don't have that plan for the time being."

She slightly widened her eyes.

Cui Ping disagreed, saying, "Xiao Xing, you can't bully that girl. Since you've already started dating, you should settle down as soon as possible. You're not getting any younger. Hey, didn't I hear from Lao Xue that you're planning to bring the girl home in a while? Doesn't that mean you're engaged?"

Xing Ze didn't answer, but simply replied, "Yes."

The middle-aged man said, "Oh dear, young people these days all like to get married late. Why are you urging Fang Bai to do it?"

Cui Ping rolled her eyes and complained, "With his appearance, it's a miracle he doesn't scare people away. He calls all day long, just nagging and complaining; even when Xiao Xing is sick and needs to ask for leave, he nags and fusses..."

"Alright, alright," the middle-aged man said helplessly, "Let's go, don't disturb their meal."

Cui Ping then stopped talking, patted Mu Tingyu on the shoulder, and invited her to come to the yard to play often. Only then did Mu Tingyu slowly follow the middle-aged man away.

The area around the dining table fell silent again.

Xing Ze looked over with a normal expression and didn't say anything.

Mu Tingyu pursed her lips, breaking the silence: "Did that auntie work here too?"

She spoke in a friendly tone, and seemed to know Xing Ze very well.

“Yes,” Xing Ze said, still holding her hand tightly, “Those two are both vice deans.”

"......."

"Huh?" Mu Tingyu opened her mouth, then felt a little embarrassed. "Why didn't you introduce her to me earlier? Is she such a high-ranking leader...? Would it be too frivolous for me to call her 'sister'...?"

“Don’t worry about it,” Xing Ze said. “Call me whatever you want.”

"......."

His knuckles gripped the back of her hand tightly, pressing down on her fingers until they curled up.

Mu Tingyu struggled slightly: "You should eat. Why are you holding me like this?"

"I'm done eating, you can eat now."

"You didn't eat much."

"I had lunch late, so I'm not hungry."

"........"

A warm sensation emanated from where their hands were clasped together, and Xing Ze gently rubbed the side of her palm with his thumb.

His hands were large, and his knuckles dig into her sorely, but he didn't seem to want to let go, so she had no choice but to continue eating with her head down in this awkward way.

More and more people gathered in the cafeteria, and the chatter grew louder, making the whole hall noisy.

Every now and then someone would nudge their companion to look at a table in a corner, and the two would look at each other with surprise.

The night outside the floor-to-ceiling windows is soft, with swaying tree shadows.

At the dining table by the window, a girl in a white dress obediently stretched out her arm, letting someone lead her, while holding chopsticks in her other hand, squinting as she gnawed on a piece of rib, one cheek puffed out, and sauce smeared on the corner of her mouth.

The man opposite her didn't touch his chopsticks; he simply watched her eat quietly, his usually indifferent face now showing an unusually gentle expression.

-

After finishing their meal, Mu Tingyu followed Xing Ze back to his office.

Xing En sent her a WeChat message saying that he had sent all the small cakes back to the villa and that they could be eaten as a late-night snack.

Who eats dessert as a late-night snack? There's so much, it's bound to go to waste...

Mu Tingyu had a bit of a headache, but she still obediently replied with "okay".

“Baby, I still have some work to do. Shall I call the driver to take you home?” Xing Ze said, pulling her along.

“No need,” Mu Tingyu sat down on the sofa. “You go about your business, I’ll wait for you to go back together.”

"It will be late later."

“It’s late, that’s fine,” she said with a smile. “I want to see you work.”

So Xing Ze bent down and kissed her, then sat down at his desk.

Staying in such a rigid office was undoubtedly a bit boring, but Mu Tingyu found it quite novel.

Xing Ze was very different when he was working; it was the first time she had ever seen him like this.

His expression was indifferent, the gentleness in his eyes was gone, and he lowered his eyes to flip through the papers in his hands, exuding an aura that kept strangers at bay.

Although Mu Tingyu had gradually gotten used to him wearing a shirt, she still thought he looked incredibly handsome. Especially with those frameless glasses and his aloof expression, she was completely aroused and her hands started itching.

She stood with her legs together, staring at him intently.

A moment later, Xing Ze called out to her without looking up, "Baby."

"Hmm?" She smiled, her eyes crinkling. "What's wrong?"

"Come here for a second."

She got up and walked over to him, moving closer, wondering why he had called her.

Xing Ze sat in his office chair, wrote the last word on the report, and suddenly put one arm around her waist.

"Why!"

Mu Tingyu was pulled forward by the force and stumbled, falling onto his lap. She quickly grabbed his shoulder.

"What's wrong? Aren't you working?"

Xing Ze kissed her cheek, the cool frame of his glasses making her squint slightly. He said, "I want to hold you."

"......."

Mu Tingyu asked, "Won't this affect your work?"

"No." Xing Ze put his arm around her waist, pulling her close, and picked up his pen again.

"Your sitting there watching me is what's affecting my work."

"........"

Mu Tingyu's ears turned red, and she awkwardly tugged at the hem of her skirt.

Fortunately, he was indeed busy and just wanted to hold her while he continued working, rather than do anything inappropriate.

Mu Tingyu sat for a while, feeling a little bored, but she couldn't disturb him by making any small movements, so she could only awkwardly hug his neck and play on her phone while resting her head on his shoulder.

Just then, Jiang Chu sent her a message saying that the customer who had ordered the large painting had transferred the full amount directly.

She typed in shock: "My God, do they trust us that much? Aren't they afraid we'll run off with the money?"

Thinking about this, she felt quite guilty. Last time, she stood them up halfway through the meal, and now they were still so sincere.

She replied, "Then ask him if he needs to meet again to have a proper chat. This time we'll book a restaurant."

Jiang Chu asked, "Is your boyfriend okay?"

"......."

Look at this public opinion.

Mu Tingyu immediately stretched out her finger and flicked the cheek of someone who was working diligently.

Xing Ze took her hand and kissed it: "Bored? Coming right away."

"......."

Mu Tingyu pulled her hand away and typed back: "It's okay, my training skills are top-notch, there will definitely be no surprises this time."

Jiang Chu sent a skeptical emoji: "Is this proper training, Ting Bao?"

Mu Tingyu couldn't help but laugh, resting her chin on Xing Ze's shoulder as she typed: "Chu Bao, you're still too young, you can't listen to these things."

Jiang Chu sent her six dots.

Her shoulders were shaking from laughing.

Xing Ze patted her waist: "Who are you chatting with, laughing so happily?"

"Jiang Chu," Mu Tingyu said without looking up, "you should focus on your work and not talk to me."

Xing Ze did not reply to her again.

Mu Tingyu thought for a moment and decided to send a greeting to Shaoyue as well. Shaoyue had been extremely busy lately, and Mu Tingyu had a lot to say to her, but she was afraid of bothering her.

I had only typed a few words when I heard the sound of the pen capping.

Before she could react, Xing Ze took off his glasses with one hand, casually placed them on the table, and kissed her.

—This man is a total kissing monster.

Mu Tingyu tilted her head back, unable to resist grabbing his shirt collar as he kissed her.

Fortunately, the man released her not long after, patting her waist gently: "Let's go home."

Mu Tingyu asked, somewhat confused, "You're done working? So fast?"

Xing Ze glanced at the papers scattered on the table and hummed in agreement.

-

After returning home, Xing Ze went upstairs to take a shower first, while Mu Tingyu wandered into the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, and grabbed a Portuguese tart to eat. It tasted quite good after being chilled, like ice cream. It had its own unique flavor compared to when it was fresh out of the oven.

She finished one, licked her lips with a hint of lingering satisfaction, and took another one out of the refrigerator. The Portuguese tart crust was so flaky that crumbs kept falling off even when she tried to catch it with her hands. She ate it in a flurry, quickly stuffing the last bit into her mouth, then ran to grab a napkin and squatted down to pick up the crumbs.

"Baby, come take a bath." Xing Ze's voice rang out.

"Wait, wait a minute!"

Mu Tingyu responded and continued to pick up the crumbs diligently, crushing them into powder with each pinch.

Footsteps approached, and Xing Ze walked over.

"What are you doing?"

He glanced at it and immediately understood. "Have the servants clean it up tomorrow."

"No," Mu Tingyu refused without hesitation, "I can pick it up right away!"

She ran into the kitchen, wet a paper towel, squatted down and wiped it clean. This time, she finally finished cleaning up the accident scene.

"Sigh, I should have thought of this earlier..."

She sighed, tossed the tissue into the trash can, clapped her hands, and said, "Okay, go take a shower... What are you laughing at?"

Xing Ze leaned against the side with his arms crossed, looking at her with a smile in his eyes.

“It’s nothing,” he straightened up. “Let’s go.”

He took a few steps, but heard no footsteps following him. He turned around and saw Mu Tingyu standing there looking at him.

"What's wrong?" He walked back. "Are you tired? Shall I carry you upstairs?"

Mu Tingyu stepped forward, buried himself in his bathrobe, and nuzzled against him with his head.

Xing Ze looked down at his collar, which had been ripped open, and asked with a hint of helplessness, "What are you doing?"

Mu Tingyu's muffled voice rang out.

"Xing Ze, you...you said during dinner today..."

"Um?"

The person in his arms hesitated for a few seconds, then asked softly, "...You said...you don't have that plan for the time being...is that true?"

Xing Ze was taken aback, then realized what she was talking about, and couldn't help but smile.

He reached out and wrapped his arms around her waist, resting his chin on her head as he answered her.

"Fake."

"Why?"

Mu Tingyu looked up at him, "Then why..."

Xing Ze glanced at the surprised expression on her face and said calmly, "I remember someone saying—marriage is the tomb of love?"

“”

"no?"

Mu Tingyu exclaimed in disbelief, "—You heard all of that?!"

Xing Ze chuckled, flicked her forehead, then reached out and picked her up, heading towards the stairwell.

Mu Tingyu quickly grabbed his shoulder and explained, "Wait, I didn't mean anything by it, I just..."

“Hmm,” Xing Ze patted her butt, “I know, you just don’t want to take responsibility.”

Hearing this, Mu Tingyu felt utterly wronged. Afraid that he would overthink things, she hurriedly lowered her head and pinched his cheek: "I didn't...!"

The speaker suddenly stopped.

Xing Ze looked at her with a gentle gaze and a faint smile.

The glass lamps on the stairs cast a soft glow, while the downstairs area was dark with the lights off. Only this small space felt warm, like April in the human world.

In the darkness, all the tangled, menacing vines proliferate endlessly, eventually weaving a dense, impenetrable net, leaving the heart buried within with nowhere to hide, shrouded in utter darkness. Then one day, a knocking sound suddenly comes from outside. From that moment on, the vines begin to fall away, and sunlight streams in through the gaps.

He tried to raise his hand to shield his eyes from the sun, but instead touched a soft feather.

To cherish a little bird requires a hundred times more patience than usual. Give it a warm and comfortable haven, a blue sky where it can fly freely, and be prepared for it to leave at any moment.

"It's just a certificate; whether you want it or not is up to you."

He looked at the girl under the lamp and said with a faint smile.

"We have plenty of time; you can take your time and consider it carefully."

-

In September, the sun shone brightly.

The city of Hangzhou remains scorching hot, showing no signs of cooling down. The green leaves lining the roads are drooping listlessly in the sun.

In the remote suburbs, a square, unadorned gray building stands on the ground, surrounded by extremely high walls and barbed wire, coldly reflecting the skylight. On the huge stone pillars at the entrance, the four characters "South Suburb Prison" have become somewhat mottled from wind and rain.

A young woman in a skirt walked out of the building, smiled at the security guard who helped her open the iron gate, and politely thanked him, saying, "Thank you for your hard work."

Seeing her red eyes, the guard felt a rare pang of pity and comforted her, saying, "Don't be sad, young lady. Anyone who goes in can start a new life as long as they are willing to reform themselves properly inside."

Upon hearing this, the girl smiled at him, her eyes crinkling, and said, "Thank you, but she can't get out."

The guard paused for a moment, then a hint of sympathy appeared in his eyes.

This is the worst prison in Hangzhou, housing criminals who have no connections and can't get out, mainly those serving life sentences.

This young girl is probably here to visit relatives; it's a real tragedy that she's run into this mess.

He racked his brains to comfort her, saying, "It's alright. The conditions in this prison may not be great, but you definitely won't starve. Don't worry."

"That's good."

The girl seemed comforted by him, looked up at the sun, and murmured.

"Then she absolutely must serve her full sentence in jail before she dies..."

After she finished speaking, she smiled again and left without looking back, leaving the gatekeeper standing there looking bewildered.

The way they're saying this sounds more like enemies than relatives.

........

"Baby, are you at the airport?"

A man's voice came from the phone.

"Yes, I was just about to board." Mu Tingyu, holding her phone, walked forward empty-handed and asked with a smile, "You just saw the message?"

Xing Ze stood outside the conference room, frowning, and said, "Why did you suddenly decide to go home?"

"It's been a long time since I visited my parents' graves. I just happened to have some free time."

Xing Ze frowned deeply, at a loss for what to do with this girl who was so unpredictable. He could only coax her in a low voice, "How about we change the ticket? Wait for me to come over, I'll go with you."

"No, you're so busy, why bother? If you just saw the message, were you still in a meeting?" Mu Tingyu said with a smile, "I'll be back tomorrow, very soon."

"......"

The conference room was packed with people, and an important seminar was underway; all the institute's leaders were present.

Xing Ze gently pulled the back door open and walked a little further down the corridor: "...I can't sleep at night without you here."

"It's just one night. You're so old now, you need to learn to sleep on your own," Mu Tingyu comforted him.

"........"

"You're not allowed to sneak over at night, you have to go to work tomorrow." Mu Tingyu seemed to see what he was thinking and quickly reminded him, "And you're not allowed to have anyone follow me."

“............”

Did you hear me?

Xing Ze said in a calm voice, "Although I don't oversee you, I'll be very worried about you going to such a far place alone."

"...I'm going back to my own home, what are you worried about?" Mu Tingyu said, both amused and exasperated. "Okay, I know, I'll tell you in advance next time."

"Stay in the best hotel," Xing Ze said into the phone. "Don't go out at night, lock the door, and send me your location."

"Okay."

After hanging up the phone, Mu Tingyu stared at the black profile picture in the WeChat chat box for a long time until the flight attendant reminded her to turn off her phone, which brought her back to her senses.

She reached out and poked the black box. The box jerked, and a message popped up at the bottom.

I patted the 'X'.

She couldn't help but chuckle, muttering, "And she said she had nothing to hide from me... Humph..."

......

The wind rustled the grass, and the cemetery was peaceful.

It was a simple, low-lying brick-walled area with no high walls. The iron gate was rusty and unattended. Inside, there were rows of gravestones, of varying heights, all gray and white.

Holding a bouquet of fresh flowers, Mu Tingyu walked to a familiar tombstone.

The tombstone has been smoothed by rain and the passage of time, with velvety moss growing on its edges, and some of the inscriptions on the tombstone are now blurred.

She put the flowers down, looked at the unkempt grass on the ground, bent down to tidy it up, and continued until her hands were covered in mud and grass clippings. Only then did she clear a place to sit in the open space in front of the grave. So she clapped her hands, then casually patted the stone slabs on the ground, and plopped down.

"Mom and Dad, I've come to see you."

Mu Tingyu touched the words on the tombstone and said softly, "Your daughter is unfilial for taking so long to come and see you."

“The last time I came here was before I went to university. I told you that I had applied to a school that was very, very far away, and that I was going to leave home. Now I am especially happy that I was able to make this decision.”

"Hangzhou is great, the school is great, life is great, everything is going smoothly. I've met many good friends here, and I've even opened a small art studio with them so I can earn a living."

“Mom and Dad,” her eyes slowly reddened, “Every time I came to visit before, I would tell you that I was doing well and that you didn’t need to worry about me… But I always said it while crying, so it didn’t seem very convincing.”

"But, but... I'm not lying to you now. I'm really doing very well now."

Mu Tingyu gently touched any faint marks on the tombstone, her eyes red, but a smile on her face.

"I found someone I really like, and he really likes me. His family is very wealthy, and he treats me very well. But he's a really good person, so his wealth and kindness to me have nothing to do with it... In short, I really like him."

She bit her lip tightly, her voice filled with sorrow.

"He...he also...helped me deal with Lin Yulan..."

The tears she held back finally fell, dripping onto the grass. "—He sent Lin Yulan to prison."

"Mom and Dad, the person who killed you has finally gotten her comeuppance. She'll be tortured in prison for the rest of her life," she choked out. "But I only found out today... I only found out today..."

"I went to see her today... Seeing her like that, I felt so incredibly relieved... She'll never come out to bully me again. She'll stay there until she dies, she'll never come out, don't worry..."

"You can rest assured now, you don't need to worry about me anymore..."

Ancient pines and cypresses stood silently all around, their branches and leaves so thick they resembled impenetrable ink, casting vast, serene shadows. A breeze rustled through the trees, causing the foliage to emit a low, mournful sound.

She rubbed her red eyes and sat quietly in front of the tombstone for a while.

"Mom and Dad, I'm going to stay in Hangzhou from now on."

She said softly, "I may not be able to visit you often anymore... Don't worry, I'll be fine."

"As for Xing Ze... I actually wanted to bring him along, but the timing didn't allow it... I sneaked out today and got scolded by him."

She laughed.

"If nothing unexpected happens, I'll spend my life with this person. I'll bring him to meet you again next time I have the chance."

"But before that."

"I'm going to throw a little tantrum at him."

A week ago, Mu Tingyu had already completed the order from that generous client and delivered the painting to him.

The client was very satisfied and said that he would definitely visit his wife in person and invite her to dinner after she returned to China.

Mu Tingyu laughed and said into the phone, "No need for dinner. If possible, please give her a private travel guide to South Africa."

The client readily agreed and sent it to her that very evening.

........

Given that Xing Ze was really busy—and this kind of busyness meant she didn't know when she could rest—and that she really wanted to get away and relax, one morning in late September, she rummaged through the storage room and found her long-forgotten little suitcase. Behind Xing Ze's back, she secretly boarded a plane to Cape Town.

The transit in Doha took more than 40 hours in total, and I arrived in the early hours of the third day.

The sky outside the airport was just beginning to brighten, the moon was still hanging low in the sky, and the streetlights emitted a soft glow.

She dragged her small suitcase out of the airport, took a breath of fresh air, and felt completely revitalized.

This was the first time she had ever experienced such a long journey, and she felt like her butt was about to burst from sitting.

It was early spring in Cape Town. She shivered as she wrapped her thin coat tighter around herself and stood by the roadside fiddling with something for a while. Just as she inserted the SIM card, she suddenly received a transoceanic call.

She was so startled she almost threw her phone away, and only after mentally preparing herself did she answer it.

On the other end of the phone, the man's voice sounded like a storm brewing.

"Shepherd's Whisper—"

She was jolted awake.

Perhaps it was the long-lost feeling of freedom that made her exceptionally excited, and her inner childish spirit was thus ignited.

At the entrance of the airport in this unfamiliar country, where there were few pedestrians on the street, she shouted into the phone—

"This cage woven from lies and hypocrisy, this shell bound by rules and order! You mortals can never stop my march to conquer the world!"

"........"

Seemingly sensing the extremely tense atmosphere on the other end of the phone, she smiled and defended herself, "—Besides, didn't I already tell you on WeChat! Although I said it before the plane took off."

"But this doesn't mean I'm leaving you without a word! You can't use that as a reason to scold me!"

The man chuckled coldly on the other end of the phone, "You little rascal, I just let my guard down for a second—"

"Alright! You're not allowed to say anymore!" she quickly interrupted him. "The beautiful world is still waiting for me! You just keep working—bye-bye!"

"Wait a minute—"

With a beep, the man's voice abruptly stopped.

She quickly hung up the phone, ostrich-likely muting her phone, and stuffed it forcefully into her pocket...

Then, quite happily, I dragged my small suitcase and stepped out of the airport gate.
