Chapter 12 What if I lose money?

Chapter 12 What if I lose money?

"Get up." At six in the morning, Shi Yanchen knocked on Pei Song's door on time.

After knocking three times without any response, he simply pushed the door open and walked in.

The room was dark and Pei Song was still wrapped in the quilt.

"It's already six o'clock." Shi Yanchen walked to the window and opened the curtains. The morning light instantly illuminated the room.

Pei Song dazedly poked his head out from under the covers: "So early..."

"Change your clothes and go for a run." Shi Yanchen threw the sportswear he had prepared long ago on his bed.

"Ah? Now?" Pei Song looked confused, "Why do you suddenly want to go jogging in the morning?"

"You've lost weight recently." Shi Yanchen said, "Exercise can make people feel better. Go running every morning from now on."

These words made Pei Song completely sober.

"Five minutes." Shi Yanchen walked out the door, "I'll wait for you in the living room."

Twenty minutes later, the two appeared on the boulevard of M University.

The campus was quiet in the early morning, with only a few students doing their morning jog.

Pei Song followed behind Shi Yanchen. At the beginning, he could barely keep the pace, but he started to pant after less than a kilometer.

"I...I really can't run anymore..." He bent over and gasped.

Shi Yanchen stopped and looked back at him: "Let's walk for a while."

"Do you often go jogging in the morning?" Pei Song asked as they walked.

"I'm used to it." Shi Yanchen slowed down and walked side by side with him, "You also need to develop this habit."

"Why?"

Shi Yanchen said without any context: "You need a strong body to do business."

They walked and stopped along the way, and by the time they had completed the entire campus and returned home, it was almost half past seven.

"Go take a shower." Shi Yanchen said, "I have something to tell you."

When Pei Song finished packing and came out, he saw Shi Yanchen standing at the entrance waiting for him.

"Come with me."

They came to the supermarket downstairs, and Shi Yanchen pushed the shopping cart and went straight to the fresh food area.

Shi Yanchen was selecting the ingredients with familiarity. Pei Song followed behind him. Looking at the shopping cart gradually filling up with fresh vegetables and meat, he felt that something was wrong with him today.

"You know I always make extra," Pei Song said, "and I have ingredients at home."

"These are not for us to eat." Shi Yanchen stopped and turned to look at him, "They are for you to taste."

Pei Song was stunned: "Tasting food?"

"On the day of the Food Festival," Shi Yanchen looked straight at him, "I said I wanted to invest in you to open a store."

"I said I would return home..."

"You can open a store here," Shi Yanchen interrupted him, "wait until you have established yourself before you start to think about other things. I have already picked a store location, right at the corner of the food court, in a great location."

Pei Song lowered his head: "But the situation at home is..."

"It's because of the current situation at home," Shi Yanchen said in an unquestionable tone, "you need another stable source of income. Your cooking skills are so good, why waste it?"

"I..." Pei Song pursed his lips, "I don't have that much start-up capital."

"I told you, I'll invest." Shi Yanchen pushed the shopping cart and continued walking forward. "You just need to be responsible for cooking."

"This is too risky." Pei Song quickly followed, "What if we lose money?"

Shi Yanchen stopped and looked at him with raised eyebrows: "Do you think I would invest in a project that I'm not sure of?"

Pei Song was stunned by his eyes.

Yes, from the time we met until now, has Shi Yanchen done anything without careful consideration?

"Besides," Shi Yanchen continued, "I have confidence in you."

These words warmed Pei Song's heart. He hadn't heard such words for a long time since the incident at home.

"I..." Pei Song took a deep breath, "Let me think about it."

"Okay." Shi Yanchen nodded and continued walking forward, "Buy these ingredients first, and you can start developing new dishes."

"I haven't agreed yet!" Pei Song shouted from behind.

Shi Yanchen said without even turning his head: "You will agree."

Looking at Shi Yanchen's slender back, Pei Song suddenly found it a little funny.

After returning home, Pei Song walked into the kitchen as usual.

He took out the newly bought ingredients and placed them on the cooking table one by one.

Through the glass door of the kitchen, he saw Shi Yanchen sitting on the sofa in the living room, processing something on his laptop.

For some reason, this scene made him feel unusually at ease.

That evening, Pei Song was worrying about a question in the library.

The final exams were coming up, and he needed to keep his grades up to keep his scholarship.

"This is the wrong word."

The sudden voice startled him, and when he looked up, he saw Shi Yanchen standing behind him.

"The BS model should be used to price derivatives." Shi Yanchen pulled out a chair and sat down. "I'll explain it to you."

Pei Song looked at him in surprise: "But aren't you a computer major?"

"AI quantitative trading requires understanding of these basic models." Shi Yanchen has already taken his notebook and started writing and drawing. "I have worked on financial modeling for a while."

In the next two hours, Shi Yanchen used extremely clear logic to sort out the entire knowledge framework for Pei Song.

Those obscure concepts became extremely clear under his explanation, and even the students who were eavesdropping on the side couldn't help but take out their notebooks to take notes.

"So that's how it is!" Pei Song suddenly realized, "You are really a genius."

Shi Yanchen smiled once, which was rare for him: "There is a discussion meeting this weekend. I will take you to a place after it ends."

On Saturday afternoon, as soon as the meeting ended, Shi Yanchen took Pei Song to a Michelin three-star restaurant in the city center.

"Wait..." Pei Song hesitated at the door, "This is too expensive..."

"Consider it as your reward for giving me the opportunity to teach." Shi Yanchen had already opened the door.

The meal lasted nearly three hours.

This was the first time Pei Song observed Michelin-level dishes at such a close distance, and he couldn't help but take out his mobile phone to record it.

"Take some photos." Shi Yanchen saw what he was thinking. "Taking photos to record is also part of learning."

Pei Song then took out his cell phone and started filming carefully.

The appetizer in front of me was a pan-fried scallop, with a few drops of olive oil dotted on the golden surface and decorated with rosemary and thyme, as delicate as a work of art.

"Try it." Shi Yanchen gestured.

Pei Song gently cut off a piece and put it into his mouth.

The crispy outside and tender inside texture immediately blooms between lips and teeth, the deliciousness of seafood and the freshness of vanilla are perfectly blended.

"This is much better than what I did..." he whispered to himself.

"Tell me, what's good about it?" Shi Yanchen asked.

Pei Song thought about it carefully: "The surface of the scallop is golden and crispy, but the inside is kept at 70% rare. The control of the heat is very precise..."

He cut off a small piece and tasted it carefully: "The seasoning is also very clever, with just enough salt to highlight the sweetness of the scallops without overpowering them."

Shi Yanchen nodded with satisfaction: "You observed very carefully."
