Chapter 130: Lingering Fear
At the moment of takeoff, Pei Song subconsciously closed his eyes, but soon he was shocked by the scenery before him.
Unlike skydiving, paragliding flies at a lower altitude, so you can clearly see every scene in the mountains.
The pine forests, meadows, lakes and snow-capped peaks are breathtakingly beautiful.
"Look!" The coach pointed to the distance, "That's a group of wild sheep."
Following the direction he pointed, Pei Song saw dozens of small brown dots scattered on the hillside, eating grass leisurely.
"Look over there," Shi Yanchen whispered in his ear, "you can see the waterfall."
A white ribbon hangs down from the cliff, and the sunlight refracts through the mist, creating a colorful halo.
"It's so beautiful." Pei Song exclaimed sincerely.
"It can also be done this way." Shi Yanchen gently adjusted the angle of the parachute ropes, allowing them to draw a graceful arc in the air.
Pei Song couldn't help laughing out loud, enjoying the feeling of flying freely.
Shi Yanchen was about to say something when a sudden strong airflow swept up from the valley.
The paraglider lost control in an instant, shaking violently like a kite with a broken string.
The umbrella made a "cracking" sound in the strong wind, and the entire hanging basket tilted sharply to one side.
Pei Song's heart almost stopped beating, but he didn't even have time to be afraid. He instinctively reached out and tightly protected Shi Yanchen.
"Hold on!" The coach's voice was blurred in the wind.
The paraglider was trapped in the whirlpool and was shaking violently. The safety belt cut into the flesh painfully, but Pei Song's arms were still tightly around Shi Yanchen.
"It's okay, it's okay." Shi Yanchen patted his hand soothingly, "This degree of shaking is normal."
He could feel the strength of Pei Song's arms tightening, and the subconscious instinct to protect himself made his heart warm.
The instructor quickly adjusted the angle of the parachute rope and the paraglider stabilized again.
Although the whole process only took a dozen seconds, the thought of possibly losing the most important person left Pei Song with lingering fears.
After gliding for nearly an hour, they landed on a meadow.
The coach pointed to a small wooden house not far away and said, "That's my mountain station. Do you want to go and have a seat?"
There are several Alpine goats and a big snow-white dog in the wooden house.
"This is my rescue dog Snow," the coach introduced. "He has helped me find many lost climbers."
Snow seemed to have a good impression of Pei Song and kept rubbing his hand with his head.
"It doesn't usually get close to strangers." said the coach in surprise.
Shi Yanchen smiled and said, "Because my fiancé has a strong affinity with animals, we also have a rescue dog named MAX at home."
Pei Song was stunned for a moment when he heard the word "fiancé", and then a sweet feeling surged in his heart.
He glanced at Shi Yanchen secretly and found that he was looking at him with a smile, his eyes full of doting.
Pei Song blushed and lowered his head, continuing to touch Snow's head, trying to hide the upturned corners of his mouth.
Snow seemed to sense his mood and wagged its tail even more happily.
"Really?" The coach became interested. "How about taking Snow on a treasure hunt? I hid some markers in the mountains, and he's great at this game."
So the two followed Snow through the mountains, watching it sniff the ground sensitively and quickly find the mark hidden behind the rock.
"You're amazing." Pei Song touched Snow's head, "You're even better at playing hide-and-seek than MAX."
On the way back, Pei Song was unusually silent.
"What's wrong?" Shi Yanchen noticed his abnormality and gently held his hand.
"Leon, can we play less extreme sports in the future?" Pei Song held his hand, with a hint of melancholy in his voice.
Shi Yanchen was a little surprised: "Why do you say that suddenly?"
"I saw a blogger's story before." Pei Song took a deep breath, "A Chinese girl and a Danish boy met and fell in love while skydiving in Thailand. Later, the girl became pregnant and the boy proposed to her. On the eve of their wedding, they agreed to go skydiving in Thailand again. The girl was seven months pregnant at the time and was resting in the hotel. The boy went skydiving by himself, and the result was..."
He couldn't continue, Shi Yanchen hugged him and asked, "What next?"
"Something happened to the boy." Pei Song's voice was a little hoarse. "His parents didn't want to spend the money their son had earned with his life, so they refused the compensation and took the girl back to Denmark to give birth. Because they didn't get the marriage certificate in time, their child couldn't even be registered and couldn't enjoy any medical care in Denmark. The girl had to go to the international court and sue the Danish government to fight for the rights of her child..."
Shi Yanchen understood his worries and kissed the top of his head gently: "Okay, I won't play anymore."
"I don't want to be the one left behind." Pei Song buried her face in his chest, "I don't want you to suffer the pain of losing your lover alone."
"No." Shi Yanchen tightened his arms around him, "I promise you, we will do some safe sports in the future. Like skiing, diving, or taking MAX hiking."
"Have you agreed?" Pei Song looked up at him.
"It's a deal." Shi Yanchen gently pressed his forehead against his, "I want to grow up with you as two peaceful old people."
When he returned to the cabin at night, Shi Yanchen took out his phone and asked, "Do you want to video chat with MAX? I haven't talked to it today."
Pei Song came over with a smile: "It should be taking a walk with Aunt Zhang right now."
Sure enough, after the video was connected, MAX was seen lying in the yard basking in the moonlight. As soon as he saw the two people on the screen, he immediately pricked up his ears and wagged his tail like a torch.
"Do you miss us?" Pei Song asked the screen.
MAX tilted his head and whimpered in grievance.
Aunt Zhang's voice came from a distance: "MAX has been running to the door these past two days, as if he was waiting for you to come back."
"Be good, we'll be back soon." Pei Song said softly.
When MAX heard this, he immediately rushed to the camera and rubbed the screen with his nose, scratching the lens of the phone.
Shi Yanchen came over and said, "MAX, you have to take good care of Aunt Zhang."
MAX immediately sat up straight, looking serious and obedient.
"Oh, by the way," Pei Song suddenly remembered something, "Today we met a rescue dog named Snow, who is very smart."
When he heard the word "search and rescue dog", MAX's ears moved and his expression seemed a little unhappy.
"Don't worry, it's not as cute as you." Pei Song quickly comforted.
Only then did MAX start wagging his tail again and raised his head proudly.
"Okay, time to go to bed." said Shi Yanchen.
MAX, however, kept pressing the "want a hug" button in front of him, looking at them with a coquettish look.
"You'll be able to hug me in two days." Pei Song said, "Be good and don't cause trouble for Aunt Zhang."
MAX lay on the ground, his eyes reluctant to leave.
After turning off the video, Pei Song smiled and said, "MAX is becoming more and more clingy."
Shi Yanchen rubbed his hair: "Not only MAX is clingy, you are too."
"I don't have any." Pei Song protested.
"Then who had to hold me in his arms to fall asleep last night?" Shi Yanchen said with a smile in his eyes.
Pei Song's ears instantly turned red: "If you say that again, I'll go and complain to MAX."
