Chapter 139 is quite exciting
After a four-hour meeting, teams from both investment banks looked satisfied.
Pei Song turned to his colleagues in the operations department and said, "Manager Wang, please update the investment return calculation. The suggestions they made are very professional and we can refer to them."
"Okay, Manager Pei," Manager Wang nodded, "You just handled their questions very well. I learned a lot."
Mr. Li came over and patted Pei Song on the arm: "You did a good job today. You were able to explain the data model of the finance department to them so thoroughly that even I was impressed."
Mr. Wu also smiled and said, "Indeed, you explained the technical architecture very clearly from a business perspective. Our technical department usually focuses too much on details and can't explain it so clearly."
After seeing off the guests and sorting out the meeting minutes, only Pei Song and Shi Yanchen were left in the meeting room.
"You performed very well," Shi Yanchen said, "and you led the team very well."
Pei Song breathed a sigh of relief. The in-depth study over the past few months was finally not in vain: "Thanks to your good teaching."
"No," Shi Yanchen said seriously, "this is all your own hard work. You have fully mastered the essentials of dealing with top investment banks - both to let them see the potential of the project and to demonstrate full risk awareness."
"To be honest," Pei Song sorted out the documents on the table, "at the beginning, I was worried whether I could lead the team well. Now it seems that everyone is making progress."
Shi Yanchen looked at him confidently and calmly, his eyes full of pride: "You looked so charming on the stage just now."
"Of course!" Pei Song smiled and patted his shoulder. "Let's not talk about it for now. My team and I have to work overtime to prepare materials tonight. UBS's due diligence will be more stringent next week."
"Look," Shi Yanchen leaned on the conference table, "I deliberately turned down an evening social event just to have dinner with Manager Pei, the best manager in our project team." He sighed deliberately, "I wonder if I have the honor?"
Pei Song looked up at him: "Isn't the president even busier?"
"So," Shi Yanchen walked closer with a smile, "Even the president has taken time out, shouldn't Manager Pei give him some face? Just one hour, I promise not to delay your preparation of tomorrow's materials."
Pei Song looked at him pretending to be pitiful and couldn't help laughing: "You are really asking for more. Your schedule is obviously even busier than mine."
"Isn't this about pursuing work-life balance?" Shi Yanchen blinked, "Besides, I think having dinner with my fiancé is also very important."
"Okay," Pei Song put away the last document, "but it's really only an hour. The UBS team will visit next week, and we still have a lot of preparation to do."
"Then it's settled," Shi Yanchen turned and walked out, "See you in the parking lot after get off work. Before that, I have to have a video conference with the headquarters in Country D."
At seven o'clock in the evening, the two sat in a secluded French restaurant, and their window seat gave them a perfect view of the night view of the city.
"Today's appetizer is Iberian ham with figs," Shi Yanchen introduced softly, "The chef of this restaurant recently returned from Paris and brought back many new ideas."
Pei Song smiled and shook his head: "When did you become so knowledgeable about food?"
"I just wanted to show off in front of you," Shi Yanchen poured him some red wine, "but now it seems like I'm just showing off my skills in front of an expert."
The waiter brought the appetizer. The thin ham slices were garnished with fresh figs and a little chopped truffle, which was both delicious and fragrant.
"It tastes good," Pei Song took a bite and took a sip of red wine, "the saltiness of the ham and the sweetness of the figs go well together."
Shi Yanchen looked at him tasting the wine seriously and raised his glass: "Cheers to Manager Pei for his performance today. You handled the most difficult problems of investment banks very well."
Pei Song was about to respond when his cell phone suddenly rang.
He glanced at the caller ID, the fork stopped in mid-air, and said to Shi Yanchen apologetically: "Technical department, I'll take it."
Shi Yanchen nodded, his eyes softening as he watched Pei Song answer the phone seriously.
He knew how busy Pei Song was during this period, so he tried every means to carve out this hour to give the two of them a chance to be alone.
The main course had just been served, a plate of seared veal steak, but unfortunately Pei Song didn’t have time to cut it.
After hanging up the phone, Pei Song looked at the time: "There are still twenty minutes. I have to go back to prepare the ingredients for tomorrow." He looked at the exquisite main dish with some regret.
"I'll have them pack it up," Shi Yanchen waved to the waiter, "You can have it as a midnight snack when you're done." He stood up and paid the bill, "I'll take you home. I also have to go back to the office to deal with some documents."
On the way back, the car was quiet.
Pei Song leaned on the passenger seat, looking at the night view through the car window, and suddenly felt that Shi Yanchen's car slowed down.
"What's wrong?" he turned and asked.
Shi Yanchen parked the car in the shade on the side of the road, unbuckled his seat belt and came over: "Give me two minutes." He lowered his head and kissed Pei Song's lips.
Pei Song subconsciously wanted to push him away: "This is outside..."
"I know," Shi Yanchen's kiss deepened, "so it only takes two minutes."
Just as the two were kissing passionately, the sound of footsteps came closer.
"Huh? Isn't this Mr. Shi's car?" a familiar voice came.
Shi Yanchen sat up suddenly and recognized that it was Mr. Wang from the marketing department.
He quickly took off his suit jacket and covered Pei Song with it, motioning him not to move, then got out of the car as if nothing had happened.
"Mr. Wang, are you still working overtime so late?" His tone was natural and friendly.
"Yes, I just finished dinner with a client," Mr. Wang looked towards the car, "Mr. Shi, what is this..."
Shi Yanchen stood in front of the car door calmly: "I'm waiting for someone here. I have a video conference with the technical team at the headquarters in Country D." He glanced at his watch, "It's almost time. I have to find a quiet place to have the meeting. Mr. Wang should also go to bed early."
After saying this, he bowed slightly and politely ordered the guest to leave.
After Mr. Wang walked away, Shi Yanchen sat back in the car and opened his coat.
Pei Song's face was already red.
"You are quite good at dealing with things," Pei Song whispered, "You just open your mouth and say it."
Shi Yanchen smiled and helped him straighten his messy tie: "There's nothing we can do. We can't be public yet." His fingers lingered on Pei Song's collar, "But the feeling of hiding is quite exciting."
"You..." Pei Song's ears turned even redder. He lowered his head and pretended to tidy up his clothes, but his heartbeat quickened uncontrollably.
