Chapter 25 SNK

Chapter 25 SNK

When organizing his thoughts at night, Pei Song discovered a pattern.

The invoices from those suspicious suppliers were broken down into different amounts, just below the threshold that required higher-level approval.

"This is to circumvent the audit," Shi Yanchen analyzed, "but this alone is not enough."

"I know." Pei Song rubbed his temples. "The most important thing is to find out where the funds are flowing, but I don't have the authority to check the core financial data."

Pei Song lowered his voice: "I suspect that the IT department has been controlled by someone, and all sensitive operations will be recorded."

Shi Yanchen thought for a moment: "What about the system log? Didn't you say there is a backup record?"

Pei Song's eyes lit up, and the next day, he applied to view the backup records on the grounds of "learning system".

By analyzing historical data, he found that every time a large amount of funds were transferred, the system code would undergo subtle changes.

Following this clue, he began to work overtime quietly after get off work, sorting out suspicious financial transactions bit by bit.

He found that the money eventually flowed into several offshore accounts, and the locations where these accounts were opened were places where his uncle often traveled on business.

But there is still a key piece of evidence missing to fully confirm it.

At noon that day, he "accidentally" spilled coffee on the keyboard.

"Sorry, sorry!" He wiped it hurriedly.

Colleagues from the IT department came to help and had to call up a spare computer.

When the other party was helping him recover the data, Pei Song finally saw what he wanted: an encrypted backup file.

He stayed up late that night, using the techniques he learned in Country D to crack the file bit by bit.

When he saw the contents inside, his hands were shaking.

All the evidence was there: the falsified accounts, the transfer of funds, the details of the fake suppliers, and even the records of my uncle's dealings with these people.

"This is enough evidence." Shi Yanchen said after reading the information, "It's time to go see your father."

The next morning, Pei Song knocked on his father's office door.

"Dad, take a look at this." He put a document on the table.

My father opened the file and his expression gradually became solemn.

After a long while, he raised his head and asked: "When did you find out?"

"I started checking from the first day I joined the company." Pei Song said softly, "I'm sorry, I'm not really here for an internship."

After reading the evidence, my father was silent for a long time.

"Dad," Pei Song said carefully, "this is solid evidence."

The father took off his glasses and rubbed his temples tiredly: "Songsong, some things are not black and white."

"What's the meaning"

"What your uncle did was wrong," said my father, "but the company is at a critical juncture right now, and there are too many people watching us. If this kind of scandal breaks out again..."

Pei Song couldn't believe his ears: "So you're just going to let it go like this"

"No, forget it." Father sighed, "But the most urgent thing right now is to stabilize the situation. When the storm is over, I will find a chance to let your uncle..."

"Wait until the storm passes," Pei Song interrupted him, "He has transferred so much funds, and the company is losing money every month now. How long do you think it can last?"

"I have my own thoughts." My father's voice became stern. "You are still young and there are some things you don't understand."

"I don't understand," Pei Song smiled bitterly, "I have laid out all the evidence in front of you, including how he manipulated the accounts and how he threatened those employees who tried to report..."

"That's enough!" The father slammed the table and stood up. "These things are not your business. You should just focus on finding a job."

Pei Song stood there in a daze. He never expected that after such a long and in-depth investigation, he would get such a result.

"Dad," his voice trembled, "are you really going to protect him like this?"

The father turned his back and said, "You can go back first. This matter ends here."

Pei Song walked out of the office with heavy steps.

He suddenly realized why the company had become like this?

It’s not because no one has discovered the problem, but because even if they have, no one is willing to solve it.

When he got home, he told Shi Yanchen about the situation.

"I should have thought of it earlier." Pei Song leaned back on the sofa, his voice full of disappointment, "They are all the same, knowing where the problem is, but preferring to pretend not to see it."

Shi Yanchen poured him a glass of water: "You have tried your best."

"But what's the use?" Pei Song smiled bitterly, "I spent so much effort to find the evidence, but in the end it was suppressed."

He stood up and walked to the window: "You know what the most ironic thing is? My father said that I was young and ignorant. But it was precisely because I was young that I didn't want to go along with them."

Shi Yanchen looked at his back: "So what are you going to do?"

"I don't know." Pei Song was silent for a long time, "But one thing I know very well, I don't want to go back to that company anymore."

At this moment, something broke in his heart.

The dream of helping the family business has now turned into nothing but bitterness.

"Maybe this is what growing up means," he said softly, "seeing things clearly and learning to accept them."

Shi Yanchen walked up to him and patted his shoulder.

The city lights outside the window are brilliant, but Pei Song's heart has never been so dark.

Pei Song has been depressed for several days since he hit a snag with his father.

The phone on the table vibrated. It was an interview invitation from a headhunter. Pei Song looked at the job description and declined.

He has received many similar invitations recently, but none of them are attractive enough.

"Rejected again?" Shi Yanchen walked over with two cups of coffee.

"Hmm," Pei Song rubbed his eyes, "It doesn't seem to match my expectations."

Shi Yanchen placed the coffee on the table and his eyes fell on a stack of documents at the other end of the table.

It was an exquisite corporate brochure with the "SNK Group" logo printed prominently on the cover.

Pei Song's attention was drawn over there. SNK is one of the largest multinational companies in Country D, with operations in catering, hotels and finance.

The brochure wasn't here a few days ago. He was about to ask when he saw a plane ticket next to the brochure.

Although he only took a quick glance, he recognized it as a flight to Country D.

Suddenly, I felt a strange feeling in my heart.

Yes, Shi Yanchen said he would stay in China for three months, and now almost a month has passed.

"What are you thinking about?" Shi Yanchen's voice interrupted his thoughts.

"Nothing," Pei Song forced a smile and took the SNK brochure, "Did you bring this?"

Shi Yanchen nodded: "They are expanding in the Asia-Pacific region recently and are hiring people."

Pei Song flipped it open casually and saw a salary list. The number made him breathless.

"Is the treatment very good?" Shi Yanchen asked knowingly.

"That's great." Pei Song smiled bitterly, "It's too good to be true."

Shi Yanchen sat down beside him: "Look back."

Pei Song continued to look through the pages, and became more and more surprised.
