Chapter 45 Accident

Chapter 45 Accident

"Wait a moment." Pei Song got up to pay the bill. When he came back, he had an exquisite box in his hand. He pushed it in front of Shi Yanchen and said, "I bought you two small ones. Study them yourself."

Shi Yanchen opened the box and found two palm-sized face-changing dolls.

He picked it up and played with it, and soon found the mechanism behind it.

"It's that simple." He seemed a little disappointed, but still put the doll into his bag.

"What else?" Pei Song was amused by his expression, "Do you think this is some high-tech thing?"

After dinner, the two walked slowly along the streets of the old town.

The architectural style of the last century is still preserved here, with red bricks and black tiles glowing warmly under the street lights.

Amid the shouts of street vendors, the melodious sound of erhu was heard.

An old artist was playing "Erquan Yingyue" on the street corner; the sound was melodious and moving.

Pei Song couldn't help but stop and said, "I often heard my mother mention this song when I was a child. She said it was my grandmother's favorite song."

Shi Yanchen also stopped to listen, his eyes soft: "My grandma also likes this song very much."

The two listened quietly for a while, and then the old artist changed to another song, "Butterfly Lovers".

"When I was a kid, I always thought these songs were too sad," Pei Song said softly, "but now I find them particularly moving."

Turning a corner, there is a quaint little square.

Several elderly couples were ballroom dancing, and soothing music was floating in the night.

"My grandmother said that this was her and grandfather's favorite pastime when they were young," said Shi Yanchen.

They sat down on the benches by the square and watched the old people dancing.

The music changed from "The Moon Represents My Heart" to "Sweet Honey" and the dance steps became more lively.

"Look how happily they are dancing." Pei Song said with a smile.

Shi Yanchen nodded: "Every era has its own romance."

Turning an intersection, I saw a group of young people gathered on the roadside, in the middle of which was a street performer holding a guitar and singing.

"I often hear this song in Country D." Pei Song stopped.

Shi Yanchen glanced at the guitar and asked, "Would you like to hear me play a song?"

Pei Song was a little surprised: "You can play the guitar?"

Shi Yanchen walked up and said a few words to the street performer, who readily handed him the guitar.

Pei Song had never seen Shi Yanchen like this before. He lowered his head slightly, his light brown eyes focused on the fretboard, even his eyebrows softened a little.

As the fingertips dance, the beautiful melody flows in the night.

It was a French folk song with a soothing and gentle melody.

Shi Yanchen's usually stern temperament seemed to be softened by the music, and even the air around him became gentle.

When the song ended, there was warm applause all around.

"Brother, you play the guitar so well!" A fashionable girl ran up to him and asked, "Can I add you on WeChat?"

Shi Yanchen politely shook his head: "Sorry."

"Just add WeChat, I can ask you out next time." The girl said unwillingly. Behind her, several friends cheered and encouraged her.

Pei Song stood aside and watched this scene, feeling a little uncomfortable.

Shi Yanchen returned the guitar to the artist, still maintaining a polite but distant attitude: "I'm really sorry."

The girl wanted to say something, but Shi Yanchen had already turned and walked towards Pei Song: "Let's go."

Looking at the girl's disappointed expression, Pei Song felt a little proud.

"What are you laughing at?" Shi Yanchen asked after walking a distance away.

"Nothing." Pei Song pretended to be serious, "I just think that girl is cute."

Shi Yanchen glanced at him, as if trying to see through his little thoughts.

"But this is the first time I know you can play the guitar." Pei Song changed the subject.

"I studied it for a while when I was in boarding school," Shi Yanchen said, "but then I became too busy and stopped studying it."

"I can't tell." Pei Song couldn't help but joke, "A math genius actually has such artistic talent."

Shi Yanchen raised his lips slightly: "Why, are you surprised?"

"It's really unexpected." Pei Song said with a smile, "I discovered a new side of you."

Shi Yanchen looked at his smile with a gentle look in his eyes: "Whatever you want to hear, I can play it for you alone."

These words made Pei Song's heart skip a beat.

He quickly avoided Shi Yanchen's gaze and pointed at the candied haws stand in front of him: "I want to eat that."

The future hotel’s opening date is set for early September, a perfect time of year when the weather is nice and cool.

A week before the opening, Pei Song almost lived in the hotel and personally supervised the debugging of each system.

From smart guest room controls to catering service robots, no detail is left out.

"Is everything OK?" Zhou Feng came to inspect the work.

"There is no problem at the moment." Pei Song was checking the system log. "I asked the technical team to review all the test data again. All indicators are very stable."

"That's good." Zhou Feng nodded with satisfaction. "This opening is of great significance. The group headquarters is paying close attention to it."

On the opening day, the hotel entrance was crowded with people and guests, including many well-known people in the industry.

"Welcome to the hotel of the future." The intelligent service robot in the lobby smoothly completes the welcoming work.

Liu Yan stood aside, looking at the amazed expressions of the guests, with a smug smile on his face: "It seems that our system is working perfectly."

Pei Song did not respond and continued to stare intently at the background monitoring data.

Although everything seemed normal on the surface, he always felt that something was wrong.

The accident happened just as the hotel was holding its opening reception.

With a "ding" sound, the whole building suddenly fell into darkness.

All intelligent systems failed at the same time, and even the emergency lighting did not start.

"What's going on?" Zhou Feng's voice was particularly clear in the darkness.

"We are checking it now." Pei Song has already opened his laptop. "The system shows that there is an abnormality in the core server, which has caused the entire network to be paralyzed."

"Restore the power supply quickly!" Liu Yan stamped his feet anxiously, "There are still many guests trapped in the elevator!"

The engineers scrambled to find the problem, but the system was like a virus and was completely unable to respond to any operations.

"This must be the responsibility of the technical team!" Liu Yan took the opportunity to attack, "Pei Song, didn't you say that the system had been checked? How could this happen?"

Pei Song ignored his provocation and quickly typed something on the keyboard.

"I've said it before, it's a mistake to hand over such an important project to an inexperienced newcomer." Liu Yan's voice became increasingly harsh in the darkness. "Boss Zhou, if something like this happens now, the company's reputation will be ruined!"

Zhou Feng frowned and was about to speak when another voice interrupted: "Team Leader Liu, the most important thing now is to solve the problem, not to blame each other here."

The person who spoke was Manager Lin from the Marketing Department. He and Liu Yan had always been at odds with each other.

Zhou Feng coughed lightly: "Okay, now is not the time to argue. Pei Song, how is the situation over there?"
