Chapter 52 Out of Control
"You..." Pei Song took a deep breath, "Forget it, I don't want to argue with you."
"What? Do you feel it's redundant to even talk to me now?" Shi Yanchen's tone was filled with unspeakable pain.
"That's not what I meant." Pei Song said tiredly, "I just don't understand why you are so against me going to Country D?"
Shi Yanchen looked at him with a dark look in his eyes, and finally said coldly: "It's up to you."
He strode into the study and slammed the door shut.
Pei Song stood there, feeling extremely uncomfortable.
For the first time since he met Shi Yanchen, he felt that there was an invisible gap between them.
He didn't understand why a training program would make Shi Yanchen behave so abnormally, and why Shi Yanchen's attitude would become so bad every time Zhou Feng was mentioned.
On Thursday night, the department organized a dinner party. Pei Song didn't want to go, but his colleagues kept inviting him.
The box was bustling with activity, and Pei Song listened absentmindedly to his colleagues chatting and laughing amidst the clinking of glasses.
The unpleasantness with Shi Yanchen these days is like a dark cloud hanging over my heart that won’t go away.
"Manager Pei, this is my toast to you." Liu Yan came over with his glass raised. "I heard that you are going to participate in the executive training in Country D? That's great news."
Pei Song forced a smile, picked up the wine glass, and frowned as the spicy taste of the white wine slid down his throat.
"Mr. Zhou really thinks highly of you." Liu Yan filled up the glass again. "We are all very envious of you for getting this opportunity at such a young age."
"Yes, yes." Other colleagues echoed, "Manager Pei is young and promising, and with the support of General Manager Zhou, he has a bright future."
Pei Song felt only irony when hearing every word of compliment.
He seldom drinks liquor normally, but tonight he was uncharacteristically drinking it all.
"Come on, let's toast to Manager Pei together." Liu Yan winked at other colleagues.
After round after round of toasts, Pei Song's head became more and more dizzy.
When Pei Song thought of Shi Yanchen's cold attitude these days and the fact that he was going back to Country D, he felt upset and picked up the wine glass and drank it all.
After three rounds of drinking, Pei Song was already extremely drunk. He leaned back in his chair, and the scene in front of him was shaking.
Shi Yanchen's face loomed in his mind. That man was clearly leaving, but he still cared whether he went to Country D or not.
"That's enough." Zhou Feng interrupted another round of toasts at the right time, "Pei Song has drunk enough."
Liu Yan wanted to say something, but was stopped by Zhou Feng's eyes. Liu Yan had to retreat awkwardly.
Pei Song reached out to grab the bottle of wine, but Zhou Feng held his hand back.
"Don't drink anymore." Zhou Feng said with concern, "I'll take you back."
Pei Song nodded dazedly and let Zhou Feng help him walk out.
As the night wind blew, he felt even more dizzy.
When they reached the parking lot, Zhou Feng was about to help him get into the car when a familiar voice rang out: "I'll take him there."
Under the dim street lights, Shi Yanchen's figure was tall and slender. He strode over and took Pei Song without saying a word.
"Mr. Shi..." Zhou Feng wanted to say something, but Shi Yanchen was already half-carrying and half-supporting Pei Song towards his car.
Pei Song was drunk and dazed, but he still leaned towards Shi Yanchen instinctively.
He rubbed Shi Yanchen's neck and murmured: "You are leaving, right... I know you are leaving..."
Shi Yanchen pursed his lips and said nothing, then stuffed him into the passenger seat. Just as he was about to fasten his seat belt, Pei Song began to twist restlessly.
"Why are you always angry with me..." Pei Song's eyes were wet, with a bit of grievance.
His fingers were tightly clenched on Shi Yanchen's collar, as if this could keep this person here.
Under the influence of alcohol, all the grievances and uneasiness turned into stubborn questioning.
"Why have you ignored me these days..."
Shi Yanchen looked at his red eyes and felt weak in the heart.
He gently pried open Pei Song's fingers and was about to stand up when Pei Song pounced on him again.
"Why don't you say anything..."
Shi Yanchen sighed helplessly and took out his cell phone to call a designated driver.
When the designated driver arrived, he couldn't help but gasp when he saw this limited edition Bentley.
"Hello, I..." The designated driver rubbed his hands nervously.
"Please drive slower." Shi Yanchen sat in the back seat and let Pei Song lean on his shoulder.
Along the way, Pei Song kept mumbling something.
Shi Yanchen just let him do what he wanted, occasionally patting him on the back.
The designated driver took a peek through the rearview mirror and was somewhat curious about the relationship between the two men.
The car slowly drove into the hotel's underground parking lot, and the driver parked the car: "Sir, we've arrived."
"Thank you." Shi Yanchen simply thanked.
Pei Song had now fallen asleep leaning on Shi Yanchen's shoulder, breathing long and evenly.
Shi Yanchen gently pushed him: "Wake up, go back to your room and sleep."
"Hmm..." Pei Song rubbed his neck dissatisfiedly, as if she was acting coquettishly.
Shi Yanchen sighed helplessly, leaned over and picked him up sideways.
Pei Song subconsciously hugged his neck and buried his face in his chest.
In the elevator, Shi Yanchen looked down at the person in his arms with soft eyes.
Back in the hotel suite, Shi Yanchen put Pei Song on the bed and turned to get a towel.
Warm breath came through his sleeves, and Pei Song hugged his arms from behind.
"Don't go..." Pei Song put his face in his hand, "...can you please not go..."
Shi Yanchen froze in place, feeling a warm touch on his hand.
Pei Song was kissing the back of his hands and wrists gently, and each kiss seemed to tease his heart.
"Enough." Shi Yanchen said with difficulty.
Pei Song was relentless and continued: "…You are leaving, what should I do…"
The soft lips were like a feather gently scratching his heart.
"Do you know what you are doing?" Shi Yanchen lowered his eyes and looked at him, his throat sliding and his voice hoarse.
"I know..." Pei Song raised his drunken eyes, "I'm kissing you..."
The string of reason broke with a snap.
Shi Yanchen turned around and pushed Pei Song down on the bed, roughly tore off his shirt, and leaned over to kiss his abdomen.
His kiss was heavy and urgent, like a punishment, but also like a declaration of sovereignty.
All the way up, he lingered at Pei Song's collarbone, leaving ambiguous traces.
Pei Song raised his head and hummed softly, his fingers unconsciously tugging at Shi Yanchen's collar.
