Chapter 58 Shut up!
At 7 o'clock the next morning, Pei Song was preparing breakfast in the kitchen, and Su Mi had already walked down from upstairs dressed.
"Why did you get up so early?" Pei Song held the freshly fried bacon.
"Of course I'll accompany you to work." Su Mi sat down at the dining table, "I don't have any plans today anyway, so I can just take you there."
Pei Song responded and turned to go into the cloakroom.
His hand paused on the hanger for a moment, and finally he took out a dust bag and put the neatly folded clothes in it.
"Hey, why do you bring this to work?" Su Mi noticed the dust bag in his hand.
"Ah...some clothes." Pei Song lowered his head to adjust his tie, avoiding Su Mi's inquiring gaze.
Arriving downstairs at SNK, Su Mi and Pei Song said goodbye.
As soon as Pei Song walked into the office, Zhou Feng knocked on the door and came in.
"Pei Song, there is a pension project to be inspected in Singapore next Wednesday. You can go with me." Zhou Feng said, "It will take about three days."
"Okay." Pei Song nodded, "I'll prepare the visa materials as soon as possible."
During lunch break, Pei Song came to the president's office carrying a dust bag.
Jin Shuning was sorting documents outside.
"Secretary Jin, could you please pass this to Mr. Shi for me?" Pei Song was a little embarrassed.
Jin Shuning looked up at the dust bag, then glanced at the closed office door: "Sorry, Manager Pei, it would be better if you hand this personal item over to Mr. Shi in person." He didn't want to get involved in the affairs between these two people.
"Just some clothes..."
"Then you should give it yourself." Jin Shuning raised the corners of his mouth slightly.
"Forget it." Pei Song turned and was about to leave.
"Manager Pei, wait a moment!"
Jin Shuning walked quickly into the office and came out soon and said, "Mr. Shi, please come in."
Pei Song entered the office and saw Shi Yanchen sitting on the sofa.
"Returning the clothes?" He stood up and took the dust bag from Pei Song. "I heard you were going to Singapore with Zhou Feng?"
Pei Song said "hmm": "It's a company project, is there any problem?"
"No." Shi Yanchen put the dust bag on the sofa and said casually: "Zhou Feng thinks highly of you."
Pei Song frowned: "Mr. Shi, please speak directly if you have anything to say."
Shi Yanchen walked to the desk and slowly poured himself a glass of water: "I just think Zhou Feng chose you to go this time, maybe he wanted to take the opportunity of the business trip to reminisce about the past?"
Pei Song was stunned for a moment, then he understood what he was referring to, and couldn't help but feel a little annoyed: "Mr. Shi, please don't confuse work with personal matters."
"I'm just concerned about the project." Shi Yanchen took a step closer, "After all, this inspection is very important."
"Mr. Shi." Pei Song looked at him directly, "I hope this business trip won't be like the executive training in Country D..."
"What like that?"
"I am an employee of SNK now. I will do my job well. Please do not interfere too much."
"Have I overly interfered in the training of senior executives in Country D?" Shi Yanchen raised his eyebrows slightly?
"That project was postponed for no apparent reason, and it might even be cancelled." Pei Song looked at his calm expression, "Is this also a coincidence?"
"Do you really want to attend the training?" Shi Yanchen's voice softened.
Pei Song pursed his lips: "It's not a question of whether you want to go or not."
"You are so outstanding. There will be plenty of opportunities in the future. I will take you there when the time comes." Shi Yanchen said casually.
Pei Song's heart skipped a beat and he was speechless for a moment, not knowing how to respond to this sentence.
Shi Yanchen looked at his stubborn look and said nothing more.
"If there's nothing else, I'll go back to work first." Pei Song turned around and was about to leave, feeling a little helpless.
Shi Yanchen stretched out his arm to stop him: "Since you returned my clothes, I want to return one to you. After all, yours... was torn by me..."
"Shut up!" Pei Song panickedly reached out to cover his mouth, his face red as blood.
But he soon realized that the action was too intimate, and he withdrew his hand as if he had been electrocuted, and took a step back awkwardly.
"Why?" Shi Yanchen looked at his embarrassed look, "You don't want anyone to know?"
"Mr. Shi!" Pei Song gritted his teeth and lowered his voice very low, "Please pay attention to the occasion."
Shi Yanchen took a step closer: "There are only two of us here."
"I'm leaving!" Pei Song turned around and rushed out.
Pei Song almost ran away, not even bothering to pay attention to Jin Shuning's inquiring eyes.
It was not until he returned to his office that he realized his heart was beating abnormally fast.
How could this person...how could he bring up that matter so brazenly?
…
Ever since her son's divorce, Grandma Pei has been asking about Zhang Yumei.
Back then, she just didn't like the arrogant Zhang Yumei and felt that such a daughter-in-law was difficult to control, so she forcibly separated her eldest son and Zhang Yumei.
If the eldest son had been able to marry Zhang Yumei, the situation of their Pei family would definitely be different from what it is now.
What's more, she has a more important purpose.
Her good-for-nothing younger son was locked up for business fraud, and Zhang Yumei's father was a high-ranking official who could definitely help smooth things over.
She found out that Zhang Yumei was now living in Jinxiu Huating in the east of the city, so she asked someone to send an invitation to her.
Unfortunately, it was rejected several times in a row.
That afternoon, she sat in the Mingxiang Tea Room, tapping her fingers on the table.
She made another appointment to meet with Zhang Yumei, hoping to clarify things in person.
Unfortunately, Zhang Yumei still did not show up.
Instead, a young girl pushed the door open and walked in. Between her eyebrows and eyes, one could vaguely see some of Zhang Yumei's youthful appearance.
"Grandma Pei." The girl looked at her and said calmly, "I am Zhang Yumei's daughter, Zhang Ruojin. My mother is not feeling well, so she asked me to come and see you on her behalf."
Grandma Pei looked at the girl in front of her. Zhang Ruojin behaved well, spoke neither arrogantly nor humbly, and occasionally revealed a bit of arrogance, which made her look very much like Zhang Yumei when she was young.
"How old are you this year?" Grandma Pei asked tentatively.
"Twenty-four," Zhang Ruojin said, "I just came back from studying abroad in Country Y."
Grandma Pei’s heart moved: Isn’t this just about the same age as Pei Song?
She spent the entire afternoon secretly observing Zhang Ruojin.
This girl is indeed extraordinary. She has the bearing of a lady from a wealthy family, as well as the insight of an international student.
Most importantly, she exudes an indescribable confidence in her every move.
Before leaving, Zhang Ruojin took the initiative to say: "Grandma Pei, I heard that you like to grow flowers. If you have time, I would like to ask you for advice."
Grandma Pei nodded repeatedly: "Yes, yes, you are welcome anytime."
