Chapter 70 Former Roommate
The "Happy Elderly Home" project has entered the intelligent system testing phase. Pei Song led the team into the demonstration unit and began a week-long comprehensive test.
The problem was discovered on the first day of testing.
"Manager Pei, the vital signs monitoring module has reported an error again." The technical director pointed at the screen and said, "This is the third time today."
Pei Song walked over to check the error log, his brows furrowed tighter and tighter.
As a core function of the elderly care project, vital signs monitoring must operate stably 24 hours a day without any room for error.
"Let's do a round of stress testing first," he said.
The results are even more worrying. Under simulated peak load conditions, the system frequently crashed and a large number of anomalies appeared in the monitoring data.
"Record all abnormal situations," Pei Song told the team. "We must find the root cause of the problem."
The next day's testing also did not go well.
The operation of smart home control systems is extremely unstable, sometimes failing and sometimes being triggered by mistake.
Worst of all, the emergency button failed 30 percent of the time in tests.
"This does not meet our acceptance criteria at all." Pei Song said, "Retest it. I want a detailed data analysis."
At 11 o'clock in the evening, the lights in the demonstration unit were still on.
Pei Song and the technical team sat in the conference room, analyzing the test data one by one.
"The error rate of the core functions is too high." He pointed to the statistical charts on the screen, "Such a system cannot be put into use at all."
As he was talking, the door of the conference room was pushed open and Shi Yanchen walked in, carrying a few insulated lunch boxes in his hands.
"Still working overtime so late?" He looked around and put the lunch box on the table, "Let's have some midnight snack first."
When I opened the insulated lunch box, a fresh fragrance filled the air. It was the Hyatt Hotel's midnight snack set: shrimp wontons with mushroom dumplings, and a special stomach-nourishing porridge.
Each insulation compartment is carefully packaged, and even the temperature of the porridge is just right.
The side dishes are also well prepared, including pickled radish, freshly fried vegetables, and a special braised platter made by the hotel chef.
This late-night snack is not too greasy and can make people feel warm and satisfied.
"Thank you, Mr. Shi." The team members were overjoyed and hurried to express their gratitude.
Shi Yanchen walked to Pei Song and glanced at the test report in front of him: "How is the situation?"
Pei Song handed him the latest test data: "Not very optimistic, core functions frequently fail, medical monitoring data is abnormal, and equipment operation is also very unstable."
Shi Yanchen looked through the report carefully, his expression calm: "How do you plan to deal with it?"
"I have asked the technical team to conduct a comprehensive investigation," Pei Song said. "The system must not be put online until the problem is completely resolved."
Shi Yanchen nodded, without saying anything more, and just pushed a bowl of porridge in front of him: "Eat something first."
Pei Song was eating so attentively that even the strands of hair on his forehead were about to fall into the bowl.
Shi Yanchen reached out to help him push aside the unruly strand of hair: "Go get your hair cut after this is done."
Pei Song nodded subconsciously, then realized that Shi Yanchen's actions were a bit ambiguous, and tightened his hand holding the spoon slightly.
At the regular project meeting the next day, Pei Song reported on the testing situation.
"According to preliminary investigation, there are serious security risks in the system. It is recommended that the supplier be required to make comprehensive rectifications immediately."
Liu Yan immediately raised an objection: "It would be too risky to make too many changes now. Why not lower some of the acceptance criteria? After all, this is only the first phase of the project."
"I agree with Team Leader Liu's point of view." Li Ming agreed, "Too strict standards will affect the project progress. And the supplier's technical capabilities are guaranteed, maybe it just needs some debugging time."
"This is not a question of high or low standards." Pei Song said seriously, "This is a system that concerns the life safety of the elderly and cannot be sloppy in the slightest.
"Manager Pei is right." Shi Yanchen said calmly, "There is no room for compromise on safety issues. Let the supplier make corrections within a certain period of time. If the standards are not met, we will terminate the cooperation."
After the meeting, Liu Yan pulled Li Ming to the stairwell and asked, "What's wrong with you? Didn't you agree to speak up for me?"
"I, I have tried my best." Li Ming lowered his head, "but Mr. Shi has spoken..."
"Trash!" Liu Yan sneered, "How is your girlfriend's internship in the Finance Department? I heard that the supervisor is not very satisfied with her?"
Li Ming's face changed: "Team Leader Liu, you promised..."
"That depends on your performance." Liu Yan said meaningfully, "I have already informed Manager Zhang. As long as you obey, a recommendation report for regularization is not a small matter, right?"
"But this time the system problem is really serious..."
"Why do you care so much?" Liu Yan interrupted him, "Think about it, if your girlfriend fails to get a permanent job, she will lose such a good job. Her parents worked hard to support her education, and she finally got a job in a big company..."
Li Ming bit his lips, looking struggling.
"Okay, don't make yourself uncomfortable." Liu Yan patted his shoulder, "Someone from Zhiling Technology will be here soon, you know what to do."
During lunch break, Li Ming found Pei Song and said quickly, "He is still talking about my girlfriend's job promotion."
"Did you record it?" Pei Song asked.
Li Ming nodded and sent the recording in his phone to Pei Song: "I now secretly record every time I talk to him. This time he mentioned Zhiling Technology again, it seems there is something new going on there."
"Well done." Pei Song said, "Keep acting and don't let yourself get caught."
Pei Song looked a little haggard after working overtime for several consecutive days.
I spend every day in the demonstration unit from morning to night, leading the team to test, troubleshoot and analyze data over and over again.
That evening, he was reviewing a new round of test reports when the door of his office was pushed open.
"Aren't you going back to rest?" Shi Yanchen walked in, having taken off his suit jacket and casually rolled up his shirt sleeves.
Pei Song rubbed his sore eyes: "Take another look at this report..."
Shi Yanchen walked behind him, put his hands on his shoulders, and kneaded them gently: "You have been working for eighteen hours in a row."
Pei Song froze up at the sudden intimacy: "I, I'm fine..."
"As your boss, I am very pleased to see that you are so serious and responsible." Shi Yanchen paused, and then said, "But as your..."
Halfway through his words, Shi Yanchen felt Pei Song's warning look and chuckled, then changed his words: "But as your former roommate, seeing how tired you are, I kind of regret letting you take charge of this project... I feel bad."
The last two words were spoken softly, but they made Pei Song's heart skip a beat.
He subconsciously tried to dodge those hands, but Shi Yanchen held his shoulders.
"You know what?" Shi Yanchen's voice lowered. "Sometimes when I see you busy in the office until late at night, I really want to pack you up and take you home."
"Mr. Shi," Pei Song tried to keep his voice calm, "please be aware of your identity."
"Identity" Shi Yanchen laughed softly, "In your heart, I am just a boss"
