Chapter 76 I Can't Stand It
After the rehearsal that day, Pei Song dragged his tired body to the office.
As soon as he turned the corner, he saw Shi Yanchen standing by the wall making a phone call. When he saw him coming, he quickly ended the call.
"Why aren't you going home so late?" Shi Yanchen asked.
Pei Song glanced at the time. It was almost ten o'clock. "I still have some work to do."
"Work is important," Shi Yanchen said, "but you also need to take a break. You've been working too hard these past few days."
Pei Song was slightly stunned. He didn't expect him to say that.
"Would you like to have a midnight snack together?" Shi Yanchen asked, "I know a good seafood restaurant nearby."
Pei Song wanted to refuse, but suddenly thought of something: "You haven't been waiting for me to finish rehearsals these days, have you?"
Shi Yanchen admitted frankly: "Why? Is it not possible?"
"You are the president," Pei Song said, "you shouldn't waste your time on this kind of thing."
"It's never a waste of time to pay attention to you." Shi Yanchen looked at him straight, "Tonight, it's not that the president is inviting his subordinates to dinner, but I just want to go eat something with you."
Pei Song didn't say anything, but he didn't run away like he did before.
Shi Yanchen naturally took his hand and said, "Let's go."
Pei Song's heart skipped a beat when he felt the warm touch coming from his palm.
In the crayfish restaurant, the aroma of spices fills the entire private room.
Pei Song had some difficulty eating and his hands were covered with grease.
Shi Yanchen took a shrimp, peeled it in a few seconds, and handed it to him: "Eat more, dancing is very exhausting."
Pei Song hesitated for a moment, but did not dodge and ate the shrimp meat from his hand.
"I heard that the company is going to have a team-building activity at the end of the month?" Shi Yanchen peeled another shrimp.
"Well, we're going skiing." Pei Song said, "But you probably don't have time to join us, right?"
"Indeed, I'm going to City B." Shi Yanchen handed a piece of shrimp to his mouth, "It may take three days."
Pei Song opened his mouth and ate it, then asked, "Business trip?"
"There is a merger and acquisition project to discuss." Shi Yanchen's eyes fell on Pei Song's face and asked softly, "Will you miss me?"
Pei Song had become accustomed to his occasional ambiguous words. He just frowned slightly, with a hint of helplessness in his eyes, and lowered his head to wipe his hands.
Shi Yanchen chuckled and continued to peel shrimp for him: "Even if you don't tell me, I know the answer."
After the midnight snack, Shi Yanchen insisted on sending him home.
The car stopped at the door of the villa, and Pei Song unbuckled his seat belt: "Thank you."
"I'll continue to wait for you tomorrow." Shi Yanchen said.
Pei Song turned to look at him: "You don't have to..."
Shi Yanchen reached out and rubbed his hair: "I want to wait, is that not okay?"
Pei Song dodged unhappily: "Don't mess up my hair."
"Have a good rest." Shi Yanchen took his hand back, "See you tomorrow."
Pei Song nodded, opened the car door and got out.
When he reached the door, he couldn't help but look back.
Shi Yanchen was still standing by the car, waving at him from a distance.
…
Christmas Eve has quietly arrived, and the SNK Building is still brightly lit.
Pei Song walked into the staff cafeteria with a tray and heard two assistants at the next table whispering.
"Mr. Shi has a video conference tonight and needs to connect to Europe."
"Ah? You have to work overtime on Christmas Eve?"
"It can't be helped. It's the time difference. It's daytime over there."
"It's too hard..."
Pei Song stopped and looked at the date on his phone thoughtfully.
Shi Yanchen has been following up on a cross-border M&A project recently and is often so busy that he doesn't even have time to eat lunch.
After much hesitation, he finally pressed the order button on the food delivery app.
He waited for a while, and estimated that it was during Shi Yanchen's meeting break, then he gently knocked on the door of the president's office.
"Come in." Shi Yanchen's voice came from inside.
When Pei Song opened the door, he saw Shi Yanchen having a video call with several foreigners. He was wearing a neat suit and looked focused.
When he saw that it was him, Shi Yanchen was obviously stunned for a moment, and a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes.
He said to the camera, "Let's
take
a
break", then stood up and walked to Pei Song: "Why are you here? "
"I heard that you had a meeting until very late..." Pei Song said uncomfortably, "I thought you would take a break in the middle..."
Before he could finish his words, there was a knock on the door.
The delivery guy came out with two exquisite lunch boxes: "Hello, this is the takeaway you ordered."
"Thank you, you've worked hard." Pei Song took the lunch box.
After the delivery guy left, Shi Yanchen looked at the familiar packaging boxes, his eyes became softer: "Did you come specially to accompany me?"
Pei Song pretended not to hear and opened the lunch box:
The fragrant twice-cooked pork, the bright red boiled fish, and a plate of stir-fried pork are all Shi Yanchen's favorite dishes.
"I haven't eaten twice-cooked pork for a long time." Shi Yanchen picked up the chopsticks, "I almost forgot its taste."
"Just order something casually." Pei Song lowered his head to eat, but the tips of his ears turned red.
Shi Yanchen didn't point it out, but just silently picked up a piece of meat for him: "Eat more."
After dinner, Shi Yanchen continued the meeting.
Pei Song curled up on the sofa in the reception area playing games and fell asleep unknowingly.
In the dim light, he felt warm breath brushing his cheek.
He didn't open his eyes, held his breath, and sighed softly in his heart.
When Pei Song woke up again, the meeting was over.
Shi Yanchen was sitting in front of the computer processing documents. Seeing that he had woken up, he said, "It's already late. I'll take you home."
Pei Song looked at the time and it was almost one in the morning.
The car drove to a fork in the road in the night. Pei Song looked at the flashing neon lights outside the window and suddenly said, "Let's go to the hotel."
Shi Yanchen's hands tightened slightly on the steering wheel: "Hmm?"
"It's too late to go home," Pei Song made an excuse, "I have to go to work tomorrow."
Shi Yanchen glanced at him, his eyes showing some joy, and quickly changed direction: "Okay."
Halfway through the walk, Shi Yanchen suddenly realized: "Dear Manager Pei, tomorrow is Christmas, the company is closed for the day."
Pei Song was stunned and felt a little embarrassed for a moment: "Ah..."
"So don't worry about going to work tomorrow." Shi Yanchen said with a smile on his face.
"Then..." Pei Song scratched his hair in embarrassment, "Please take me home."
"Since you've already said you want to go to the hotel, don't change your mind. Besides..." Shi Yanchen smiled slightly, with a hint of ridicule in his tone, "Do you think I will let you go back now?"
He went on to say, "I just happened to have an idea. Should I go to the Sanxingdui Museum tomorrow? I heard that a new digital art museum has opened there."
"Can I still book a ticket at this time?" Pei Song asked.
"Don't worry," Shi Yanchen raised his lips, "We can study together when we get back. At worst, we can use the VIP channel."
Pei Song couldn't help but complain: "Is the CEO so great? He can do whatever he wants just because he is the CEO."
"It's not about doing whatever you want," Shi Yanchen corrected, "it's about doing whatever you want."
Pei Song was speechless for a moment and had to turn his head to look out the window, but his red ears betrayed his mood.
Although he was used to Shi Yanchen's occasional sweet words, he still couldn't stand it sometimes.
