Chapter 93: So many little thoughts
At six o'clock in the morning, Pei Song was awakened by a slight noise.
When he opened his eyes, he saw MAX standing pitifully beside the bed, looking at him with wet eyes and making slight whimpering sounds in his throat.
"What's wrong?" Pei Song asked softly, reaching out and touching MAX's head.
MAX nuzzled his hand gently, a look of anxiety in his eyes.
It circled the room a few times, then ran to the door and scratched it gently with its claws.
Pei Song instantly understood what it meant and quickly threw back the quilt and got out of bed.
He first checked the diaper pad prepared for MAX and found it was clean without any traces.
"So you're so particular." Pei Song chuckled and said, "Do you really have to go out?"
MAX wagged his tail with a flattering look in his eyes.
As a well-trained search and rescue dog, it has strong self-discipline and would rather hold it in than just do it at home.
Pei Song quickly put on his clothes and took out a thick down jacket from the closet.
The temperature was very low in the early morning of January. He tied a scarf and put a specially customized dog collar on MAX.
MAX enjoyed the feeling of being well taken care of by his master and cooperated obediently with Pei Song's actions.
"Let's go." Pei Song picked up the leash and the toilet bowl and patted MAX's head gently.
MAX immediately ran to the door happily, but did not move. Instead, he waited quietly for Pei Song to tie the leash for him.
In the elevator, MAX sat properly at Pei Song's feet, wagging his tail gently, appearing both excited and restrained.
The cold air blew in his face, Pei Song shrank his neck and pulled his scarf up.
MAX followed closely on Pei Song's left side. At every turn, it would stop and wait for Pei Song's instructions.
Pei Song couldn't help laughing when he saw its serious expression.
Even after retirement, MAX still has the temperament of a professional search and rescue dog.
The cold air blew in his face, Pei Song shrank his neck and pulled his scarf up.
MAX didn't care about the temperature at all and still maintained his standard accompanying posture, looking up at Pei Song from time to time, as if to confirm the condition of his master.
The green belt in the community is very nice, and MAX quickly found a suitable place.
It first sniffed carefully to make sure there was no scent of other dogs around, then it raised its hind legs properly.
Pei Song stood aside waiting, looking at MAX's silhouette in the morning light, a warm feeling welling up in his heart.
"Let's go to the park." Pei Song said softly.
There is a well-maintained landscape park behind the community. The morning mist has not yet dissipated, and the figures of several people doing morning exercises are looming in the mist.
They walked slowly along the park's tree-lined avenue, with neatly paved bluestone paths under their feet.
MAX sniffed all the way, as if he was carefully recording all the information about the area.
After a circle, the sky gradually brightened.
The rising sun dyed the eastern sky red, casting a soft golden halo on everything in sight.
Just as he was about to walk back, someone patted him gently on the back from behind.
Pei Song turned around and saw Shi Yanchen standing there, wearing sportswear with a little sweat on his forehead.
"Are you out walking the dog so early?" Shi Yanchen asked, his eyes falling on Pei Song's nose which was red from the cold.
"MAX wants to go to the bathroom." Pei Song said, "Why are you exercising in such a cold weather?"
"Yeah." Shi Yanchen reached out and adjusted Pei Song's crooked scarf. "Are you cold?"
"Not bad." Pei Song said, and couldn't help sighing, "MAX refused to go to the toilet at home. I bought a pee pad and prepared a fixed area for it, but it just wouldn't use it."
Shi Yanchen raised his eyebrows: "This is a good thing, it shows that it is well disciplined."
"But I checked online," Pei Song said with some concern, "it's not good for dogs to hold their urine for a long time. They are prone to urinary system diseases. When I'm not at home in the future, I may have to trouble Auntie to take it out for a walk more often."
"You can tell Auntie directly," Shi Yanchen said softly, "You are also the master of this house."
Pei Song was stunned for a moment, and the tips of his ears turned red. The implication in this sentence made his heart beat irregularly.
MAX seemed to sense the subtle change in the atmosphere. He gently rubbed Pei Song's hand, and his moist eyes looked back and forth between the two of them.
The phone rang, and Pei Song took a look: "My customized banner has arrived. Do you want to go to the hospital to see Dr. Li together?"
"Okay," Shi Yanchen said, "I don't have a meeting this morning." He paused, "But go back and have breakfast first. You must not have eaten yet since you came out so early."
The two of them brought MAX back home, and their aunt was already busy in the kitchen.
A delicious breakfast was placed on the table: millet porridge, minced meat and eggplant, stir-fried lettuce, and freshly-cooked soup dumplings.
MAX lay beside the dining table, staring at the delicious food.
"Your breakfast is over there." Pei Song pointed to MAX's exclusive food bowl, which contained chicken breast and vegetables prepared in advance.
MAX immediately ran over and concentrated on enjoying his breakfast.
After breakfast, Pei Song went to pick up the express.
"Take a look." He unfolded the banner to show Shi Yanchen and couldn't help laughing.
Shi Yanchen leaned over to take a look and also laughed.
There was a big “666” written in the middle of the banner, and the font below was slightly smaller: Thank you doctor for saving my life!
"Why don't you write the date?" Shi Yanchen asked with a smile.
"Not writing the date can avoid timeliness," Pei Song explained seriously, "and make it easier for Dr. Li to keep it hanging for a long time."
"By the way, I also prepared this." Pei Song took out two exquisite gift boxes from the express box, which contained customized black carbon pens.
Shi Yanchen took the pen and looked at it. There was "Thank you Dr. Li Mingde" engraved on each pen.
He smiled and shook his head: "You have so many little thoughts."
"A doctor's pen is most likely to be stolen. This way, anyone who takes his pen can see this sentence." Pei Song was very confident, his eyes shining.
Shi Yanchen looked at him seriously and couldn't help but ruffle his hair: "What are you thinking about?"
"Dr. Li will definitely understand what I mean." Pei Song said, carefully putting the gift into his bag.
After settling MAX down, the two drove to the Provincial People's Hospital.
Arriving at the hospital, Pei Song held a banner and walked to the information desk on the first floor.
"Hello, which floor is Dr. Li Mingde from the Department of Cardiology on?"
"The Department of Cardiology is on the eighth floor." The nurse looked up at the banner and asked with a smile, "Are you here to thank Dr. Li?"
"Yes." Pei Song raised the banner, "He saved my life."
"Then you can go to the nurses' station on the eighth floor and ask first." said the nurse.
Pei Song thanked him, turned and walked towards the elevator, but he "accidentally" pressed the wrong floor again.
So, he carried the banner and started from the second floor, asking questions floor by floor.
"Excuse me, is Dr. Li Mingde on this floor?"
"Sorry, we went to the wrong floor. Which floor is Dr. Li on?"
"Ah, so it's not this floor..."
At each floor, someone would stop to look at the banner, then cover their mouth and chuckle.
Shi Yanchen followed behind him and couldn't help laughing as he watched him "seeking medical advice" along the way.
