Chapter 121 Entanglement

Jiang Shuya never expected that Zhang Xiaohui, who was always meek and obedient, would have such a shameless side. She was now trying to fleece her. She patiently listened to her finish speaking.

"Xiaoya, I saw in the newspaper the other day that the police have a reward for the human traffickers you reported. There are rumors that Huang Tao is on the run, and that you deliberately let him go. You're relatives, after all, right?" Zhang Xiaohui said vividly.

"So what? You're the only one who had any ulterior motives, thinking that because I got that money, I should help you open a shop?" Jiang Shuya looked at her coldly.

She never expected that the rumors outside would spread to this extent, with everyone believing that Huang Tao was a relative and that letting him escape was a reasonable thing to do.

Zhang Xiaohui shook her head and said calmly, "I really don't have the money to open a shop right now, and I'm not curious about the money you got. After all, it's what you deserve. Being able to stand up to those three human traffickers alone takes courage, which is something not everyone can do. It's also your good fortune that you came back unharmed under those circumstances. I sincerely admire you, and I don't think you should help me. It's all voluntary. I only came to ask you because of your previous suggestion. If you don't want to, who can force you?"

Jiang Shuya realized she had misunderstood her. Seeing that she was about to leave, she said in a low voice, "I will consider your suggestion. I will give you an answer after you come back from your hometown after the New Year. Also, I can only tell you that I was on the verge of death that night. You almost didn't see me again. I was only able to survive because someone helped me. We should both cherish each other. The New Year is coming soon, so I wish you a happy New Year in advance. Our good days are yet to come."

Zhang Xiaohui's face showed more understanding. She laughed twice, shook her head, and leaned closer: "I dreamed that my house was demolished and I received a lot of money, more than I could earn in my entire life. I went abroad, bought several beautiful outfits and cosmetics, got my teeth fixed, and moved into a big, spacious, and bright house. I was very happy."

Jiang Shuya laughed twice after hearing this, and raised her eyebrows: "Your wish can definitely come true, and it's not far off."

The two chatted for a short while before Zhang Xiaohui went home.

Bored, she opened her phone and saw Huang Minghao's message about his return date. He actually wanted her to pick him up at Zhongshan Wharf. A cold smile appeared on her lips: This is truly unheard of. So many of the messages she sent before had disappeared without a trace. He's deliberately trying to wake her up. Now he'll taste what it's like to be ignored. And let me tell you, when men act like this, they can be incredibly shameless. No matter how eloquently you speak, he just won't reply. He'll let you experience firsthand what it's like to be ignored.

Lida Shopping Mall

Lin Moxiao sat in the car, staring intently at the corner of the mall entrance for a long time, nervously rubbing her palms together.

Not finding Jiang Shuya, he called Wang Ziliang and learned that Jiang Shuya hadn't come today. He put the gift in his hand on the passenger seat, looked up and pondered for a moment, then turned the steering wheel and drove back. On the way, he suddenly received a strange call. He was told the name of the person on the other end of the line. He hesitated for a moment, then heard an urgent, hoarse voice on the other end, as if it were a matter of life and death. He answered in a deep voice, stepped on the gas, and drove in another direction.

Inside the 1912 Bar, the lights were dazzling, the atmosphere vibrant, and the music was enchanting. The melodious songs were captivating, and the light reflected on their faces, making them appear more alluring. In the dimly lit corners, several young men and women lay slumped on the sofas, completely drunk. Lin Moxiao approached the bar and inquired about the situation. The bartender then led him to the innermost private room of the bar. On the sofa, a woman seemed to be completely unconscious, reeking of alcohol. Her golden-brown curly hair made her look like a cute and beautiful doll. She lay there quietly on her side, tears still wet at the corners of her eyes, breathing heavily, her face filled with sorrow and pain.

Lin Moxiao walked in, stood beside her, and called out, "Wang Yingying, wake up."

Wang Yingying squinted at him and gave him a silly smile, looking almost like she was crazy: "Brother Xiao, it can't be yours, how could you possibly be here? I don't believe you would come, haha."

The bartender next to her frowned, looking helpless: "She's been here for days, drinking like this every day. Our boss is worried something might happen to her. He called her colleague, who said she doesn't live in the same place anymore and can't find any other contacts. Remembering you used to be regulars, she contacted you, begging you to take her away and find her family. It's almost Chinese New Year, and we'll be going on holiday soon. She can't stay here indefinitely, right?"

Seeing that Lin Moxiao did not speak, the man took out a bill and said in a bright voice, "This is her spending record for the past few days. Sir, could you please pay for her?"

Lin Moxiao didn't take the bill. He glanced at it indifferently, then expressionlessly took out a card from his pocket. The man bowed and smiled as he took the card and left. A moment later, the man returned with a receipt in his hand, which he handed to Lin Moxiao along with the card.

He approached, bent down, and scooped her up in his arms. The strong smell of alcohol made him frown. Holding his breath, he walked out. As they passed through the brightly lit area, they caused a huge commotion. The drunken, dazed people in the bar all stopped and stared at the extremely handsome man holding a sexy woman in his arms. Everyone knew where they were going and what they were going to do. Instantly, the bar erupted in gasps, suggestive sounds, and some even whistled to cheer them on, their faces showing wanton and decadent laughter.

Seeing this, the staff member who had been there earlier caught up and reminded him, "Sir, it's the end of the year, so it's best to avoid hotels and guesthouses. The police are conducting strict checks on out-of-towners. If you don't have a fixed address, it's best to avoid going to these places to avoid unnecessary trouble."

Lin Moxiao frowned upon hearing this. He was somewhat surprised. He had initially planned to find her a place to stay first, and let her decide whether to stay or leave once she sobered up. He couldn't take her to the Yushan Apartment, and he didn't want to get entangled with her. After thinking for a moment, he put her in the car and found her a hotel. When they arrived, Wang Yingying refused to go to the hotel. She clung tightly to Lin Moxiao, muttering, "Brother Xiao, I'll go wherever you go. Can I watch the stars with you tonight? I don't want to sleep there alone. I'm so scared. Please don't leave me, okay?"

Seeing her drunken, hazy appearance, Lin Moxiao's face was shrouded in gloom.
