Jiang Shuya chuckled twice;
"I'm sorry, I'm not considering those things right now. Besides, I think dating is one thing, marriage is another. You know I've been through it before, so I'd rather not try it lightly."
I wanted to help him see reality, so I had no choice but to offer a word of advice.
Lin Moxiao sat next to her, tilting his head nonchalantly as he asked;
"You mean you're with me just to be a scoundrel, and you don't care about the future?"
Jiang Shuya: Isn't this what I should think? How did this lecherous man say it out loud? Hehe, we really are on the same wavelength.
"Alright, you probably don't know me well enough yet. Let's discuss this further once you've gotten to know me better. But you have to promise me one thing: you'll come with me to the plum garden to see my grandparents tomorrow."
Lin Moxiao glanced at his wristwatch as he spoke, then added;
"After we go to the supermarket, come with me to Yushan Apartment. You can read any of the books in my study; it's quiet there. Let's not go to the bookstore; it's too noisy there. You can also try my cooking."
"Wait, I don't think it's appropriate for you to visit your grandparents," Jiang Shuya retorted.
Lin Moxiao was surprised;
"What's wrong with that? I've waited too long for this day. Let's make it tomorrow, okay?"
Jiang Shuya continued to refute;
"This is too hasty, it really won't work. We haven't considered this aspect yet. Please understand."
She tried to be tactful, not wanting to directly hurt his sincere feelings.
Upon hearing this, Lin Moxiao frowned and became melancholy.
"You can wait, but I'm afraid Grandma won't be able to. She's been seriously ill for years, and even the top specialists in Nanjing can't help her. I want to cheer her up and distract her from her worries. I promised her I would bring her the person she cares about most to see."
Hearing this, Lin Moxiao's mood became even heavier, and the air grew even more somber. The two exchanged a calm glance, and the enthusiastic waiter brought over two pasta set meals. Jiang Shuya looked at the colorful and uniquely shaped fresh food and suddenly felt unable to eat.
Lin Moxiao put on gloves, peeled the shrimp in front of him, and handed them to Jiang Shuya, saying gently;
"If you really don't want to go, I won't force you."
Seeing him with his head down, no longer speaking, and earnestly eating the food in front of him, the way he ate was refined and elegant, chewing slowly and calmly, which was very beautiful. At this moment, Jiang Shuya's heart softened, but she still found it too unbelievable, so she tentatively asked.
"Could I visit your grandmother as a friend, just a casual acquaintance? Could you please not tell her that you have feelings for me?"
She regretted it as soon as she finished speaking, because there is no such thing as a purely intimate friendship between a man and a woman, especially for people of her grandmother's generation, how could they not think in that direction?
"No, you're the person I've been thinking about for five years. Only after she meets you and approves of you can I have you with a clear conscience." Lin Moxiao's tone was calm yet serious.
Jiang Shuya: What kind of logic is this? I've never heard of it before, it's bizarre terminology.
She stopped talking and began to eat in the same elegant and composed manner as Lin Moxiao, taking small bites to enjoy the food. The two remained silent for a long time after the meal, neither of them uttering a word.
Although the food was expensive, the portions were small. Jiang Shuya finished it all, which was unusual for her. The two stood up in tacit agreement, and the waiter handed Lin Moxiao a card along with the receipt, smiling and saying familiar farewell words.
Lin Moxiao still hugged Jiang Shuya tightly, feeling his overwhelming pressure, and huddled in his arms as if he were about to crush her.
Soon they arrived at the premium supermarket. On the imported goods section, Lin Moxiao carefully searched through the bottles and jars for the seasonings he needed.
Jiang Shuya selected the daily necessities she needed, choosing only two of each and placing them in the shopping cart. Lin Moxiao noticed that all the women's items were pink, and a smile appeared on his lips.
Jiang Shuya looked at him with a puzzled expression;
"What's wrong? Is there too much? It's not quite right."
"No, very good, these are mine?" Lin Moxiao looked at the other part, which was all blue, and her eyebrows relaxed.
Jiang Shuya nodded at him, curiously looking at the bottles and jars he had chosen, and did not forget to praise him;
"That's amazing! You can actually cook. Did your grandfather teach you?"
"It's not very well done, but you can learn. You don't know how either?" Lin Moxiao retorted.
Jiang Shuya shook her head;
"I have absolutely no idea how to cook, but I don't want to learn. I have a natural aversion to cooking and I'm afraid of oil fumes."
Perhaps most men can't accept a woman who can't cook. Thinking back to how much I cared about Huang Minghao before, I didn't change for him even after the divorce, even though he once told me that if you want to win a man's heart, you have to win his stomach.
These reasons clearly don't hold true for Jiang Shuya; there's nothing anyone can do to change the things she fundamentally rejects.
Memories slowly surfaced on Lin Moxiao's face;
"My mother can't cook either. I've only ever eaten sandwiches made by her since I was a child. Because it's simple and easy to make, she's mastered it. But she doesn't know how to be flexible and can only make one kind of sandwich."
But I still miss those sandwiches with egg and ham inside, sometimes with a few leafy greens. Every time she finished making them, as long as the bread wasn't burnt, she'd be overjoyed.
Hearing him say that, Jiang Shuya's eyes lit up. She happened to see the bread section of the supermarket selling sandwich slices, so she went up and grabbed a bag. Then she went to the deli counter, picked out a bag of ham, put it in her shopping cart, and looked up at him.
"I know how to make this. Do you have any eggs at home? Would you like to buy some?"
Lin Moxiao looked at her with doting eyes;
"Then I'm in for a treat tomorrow morning, I'll get to eat a sandwich you made yourself."
As if he had just woken her up, Jiang Shuya slapped her forehead in annoyance.
How could she be so foolish? Buying household necessities, what was she planning to do? Was she going to live with him? She couldn't wait to leave Xixia Village and throw herself into the arms of another man.
She was filled with shame and was almost led astray by this man. She reached out to take the things out of the box, but Lin Moxiao stopped her.
He quickly walked to her side, put his arm around her slender waist, and whispered in her ear;
"Stay at my place tonight, let me be a happy man for once. Don't worry, I won't touch you without your permission. I'll cook for you at noon, and you cook for me tomorrow morning, it's a reciprocal gesture, okay?"
Jiang Shuya blushed all the way to her neck, while Lin Moxiao tilted his head to rest his head on her neck, his narrow eyes lecherously watching her expression, not wanting to miss any subtle changes.
