The rain outside was getting heavier and heavier. Jiang Shuya gave Tangtang a hot bath, made her a cup of milk, and sang a lullaby to lull her to sleep.
Seeing this, the mother-in-law fawned and asked Tangtang to sleep at her place. After her son's neglect today, she was inexplicably afraid that Jiang Shuya would take Tangtang away while she was asleep.
"Xiaoya, you must be very busy lately. I heard you opened a restaurant with Zhang Xiaohui from the west side of the bridge and have to run around doing business. You must be exhausted. I'll bring Tangtang to my place so you can get some rest and have the energy to go out and do business tomorrow."
Jiang Shuya noticed her mother-in-law's worry. She was indeed exhausted from running around for several days. She trusted her mother-in-law to take care of Tangtang, as long as she didn't take Tangtang to the card-playing hall; "Okay, I'm really tired too. Why don't you take her to sleep there?"
After saying that, she got up, picked up Tangtang, draped a small blanket over her, and watched her mother-in-law go downstairs.
Jiang Shuya stretched and dragged her tired body into the bathroom. She took a nice hot shower, changed into the pajamas she had just bought a few days ago, sat in front of the dressing table, dried her wet hair, and did some skincare. Turning to look out the window, she saw that it was still raining outside and couldn't help but pray silently; she hoped that tomorrow would be a good day and that it wouldn't rain during the day so that she could be outside.
The bright lights in the room were still on. Jiang Shuya opened the book "The Law of Online Store Management" that she had received when she enrolled in the training course a few days ago.
He opened the book and read it very carefully. He took out a pen from the drawer, marked the important points, and put a question mark on them because there were some parts he didn't understand. He would have to ask the teacher at the training center for clarification later.
Outside the car window, rain pattered down, splashing ripples on the glass, proclaiming a silent power in the quiet space.
Lin Moxiao looked out the window with a hesitant expression. Before he knew it, the car had arrived at the entrance of Xixia Village. It was pitch black outside the village, with no streetlights. There was only a cement road leading into the alley, with a faint light shining from one spot, emitting a dim glow.
Thinking back to when he came here a few months ago, whatever the reason, it was all for her. This time, he might be here for the last time. As long as Jiang Shuya gives him a reason not to choose him, from now on, they will go their separate ways and not interfere with each other.
In the quiet room, the cell phone lying beside her made a jarring sound. Jiang Shuya frowned, quickly picked up the phone, and clearly felt repulsed by the sound.
I quickly answered the familiar number that I had never saved.
"Hello, is that you?" Hearing that magnetic and warm voice, Jiang Shuya's heart skipped a beat.
Lin Moxiao: "Come out, I need to see you."
Jiang Shuya: "What? Now? It's too late."
Lin Moxiao: "Yes, right now. I'm nearby. Come out."
Jiang Shuya: "Ah, you're coming over now? At the intersection of Xixia Village?"
Lin Moxiao: "Come out, I want to see you. I have something to ask you face to face."
Jiang Shuya: "It's raining heavily outside, didn't you know?"
Lin Moxiao: "I know. I'll bring an umbrella. If you don't come out, I'll wait here until dawn."
After saying that, Lin Moxiao hung up the phone with a cold expression. The surroundings were pitch black, and his eyes grew even colder.
Jiang Shuya gripped her phone tightly; what did he want? Why was he calling her so late?
The atmosphere in the room instantly became heavy. She held her breath, rubbed her tense temples, and paced back and forth in the room, her mind in turmoil.
What should she do when facing him? What should she say? Should she make up her mind to be with him, or should she completely distance herself from him? She had a bad feeling. He really couldn't wait any longer and desperately wanted an answer from her.
She looked out the window at the relentless rain, gritted her teeth, took a coat from the closet, and draped it over her shoulders.
Suddenly I realized something was wrong; it wasn't appropriate to see him in my pajamas.
So she changed into another set of clothes, wearing a milky white knitted dress underneath, paired with a black round-neck coat, revealing her slender and fair neck. She put on the high heels that Lin Moxiao had bought for her last time, and tiptoed downstairs, where she found an umbrella under the eaves.
As soon as she opened the door, a gust of wind and rain blew in her face, making her heart clench with cold. She endured the raindrops hitting her, gently closed the gate, and walked towards the village entrance.
The street was dimly lit and dark. Although it was a cement road, the road was full of potholes from the constant rolling of vehicles. Jiang Shuya walked on the road with uneven steps, and rainwater splashed onto her legs unintentionally.
Sitting in the car, Lin Moxiao saw Jiang Shuya walking towards the village entrance from afar. He quickly opened the car door, took out a black umbrella, and opened it.
Upon reaching the village entrance, Jiang Shuya immediately spotted Lin Moxiao standing beside the car. His tall figure was hard to ignore. She paused for a moment and blurted out.
"What's the rush to ask?"
Lin Moxiao saw the raindrops on her fair face and opened the car door;
"Come inside the car; getting wet in the rain can make you sick."
Jiang Shuya instinctively refused;
"No need, I'll just stand here, it's fine this way. Just say what you have to say!"
Lin Moxiao frowned, quickly closed the car door, and slowly approached her;
"You're in a hurry to get back, aren't you?"
Jiang Shuya turned her head away, feeling uneasy.
"No, I just wanted to breathe some fresh air."
Lin Moxiao stared at him with cold brows;
"Really? Looks like you know what I'm going to ask. Tell me, you're single now, why are you still living here?"
Jiang Shuya looked up;
