Ever since she learned of Sun Qi's intentions, Jiang Shuya started coming to Leshan Road every few days to supervise the construction. She knew that Sun Qi would do her best to complete the renovation work. Fortunately, Huang Minghao hadn't made things difficult for her these days, perhaps because Jiang Shuhuai lived downstairs. Everyone was getting along peacefully.
However, Jiang Shuya could see the disgust in Huang Minghao's eyes, so she suggested that she move to the restaurant's staff dormitory once the renovation was finished.
Huang Minghao's ashen face only replied:
''what ever.''
When Jiang Shuya saw Li Xiaoru again, she found that Li Xiaoru was ignoring her. She realized that the dress was the culprit. She went to the bedroom, found the dress, and decided to try it on herself. If it didn't look good on her, she would give it to Li Xiaoru.
The moment she put it on, the bright yellow color, the subtly revealing cutout design at the waist, and the comfortable, form-fitting fabric made her instantly unable to take it off. In the mirror, she looked gentle, graceful, and ethereal. She really loved it, so she decided to be selfish for once and ask her cousin to buy her another one next time she saw her.
It was so hot that she tied her long, black hair, which she usually wore loose, into a ponytail, instantly making her feel much cooler.
The rain in June came suddenly. Jiang Shuya was looking for another storefront on the east side of the city. She found a place to take shelter from the rain and waited for it to stop. At this moment, Sun Qi walked over from not far away. He was holding a black umbrella and walked around to the front of Jiang Shuya.
"Sister-in-law, there's water on the ground over there, come over here."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Shuya looked down and saw that her white shoes were half wet. She hesitated, wondering if it would be too close for her to be under the same umbrella as him.
Sun Qi knew that she had been deliberately avoiding him these days, and rarely spoke to him. Each time, she would stand at a distance, not saying a word or daring to get close. Even this time when they agreed to come to the East Station to look at storefronts, the two walked one after the other and rarely spoke to each other.
Jiang Shuya lowered her head and stared at the ground, realizing that she was standing on a slope, and rainwater was pouring down from her feet into the manhole cover next to her.
Sun Qi reached out and pulled her up, extending the umbrella to keep her dry. Jiang Shuya stumbled and almost fell into his arms, grabbing his sleeve to keep her distance.
The umbrella completely sheltered Jiang Shuya, but the rain soaked Sun Qi's shoulders. He remained silent and continued to hold the umbrella for her.
Jiang Shuya pushed the umbrella towards him;
"Sun Qi, I think I need to make something clear to you. For the sake of our continued cooperation, I will only consider you a friend and family member, but we must never develop a romantic relationship. Our common goal is to make the restaurant successful and prosperous in the future."
Sun Qi forced a smile onto her face;
"I know, sister-in-law, I'll do my best, but I also want to say that you've already divorced Hao-ge, so I won't call you sister-in-law anymore. Actually, we're the same age, I don't think it's wrong."
Jiang Shuya stopped him from continuing; "You can call me 'sister' like Shuhuai does."
Sun Qi frowned, her lips moved, but she found that she couldn't make a sound.
"I'll call you Shuya from now on. We're the same age, both born in the Year of the Rabbit, so we should have a lot in common."
Jiang Shuya took a step back, realizing she couldn't continue the conversation. She glanced at the time; it was the weekend, and she had class that afternoon.
As the rain subsided, Sun Qi watched her walk away and quietly followed behind her. When they got on the bus, Jiang Shuya noticed that he had followed her, but he didn't get close. He just followed from a distance and didn't say anything more.
Upon arriving at the Sanshan Building, the rain gradually intensified. Sun Qi opened his umbrella and walked up to her.
"Let me walk you in. It's still a distance up the steps. After you're inside, I'll take a car back."
Jiang Shuya looked at the sky, which was covered with dark, heavy clouds. She sighed and the two of them walked quickly up the steps side by side.
She hadn't walked far when she suddenly stopped. In the distance, she saw Lin Moxiao standing at the entrance of the office building, one hand in his pocket, his tall, slender figure resolute and composed, silently watching the direction she had come from.
Jiang Shuya's eyes were somewhat dazed. She blinked, her mind tense, her heart racing. She then turned to look at Sun Qi beside her.
"Sun Qi, hold me tight, hurry up!"
Sun Qi was a little confused. He raised his hand, hesitated for a moment, and then gently placed it on her shoulder. The design of her dress revealed half of her shoulders, which were white and smooth. When he touched her skin, it was smooth and soft, and even a little cool.
Jiang Shuya slowed her pace and urged, "Hold on tighter."
Sun Qi nervously pulled her into his arms. Jiang Shuya smiled as she looked at his nervous, slightly flushed face with her clear, watery eyes.
The intimate actions of the two were witnessed by Lin Moxiao, who was walking towards them. He clenched his fists, pressed his lips into a straight line, and felt his blood boil.
Unexpectedly, the person he had been longing for had fallen into someone else's arms again. He suppressed his anger and was furious. Finally, as he brushed past them, he grabbed Jiang Shuya's arm, turned around, and pulled her away from Sun Qi.
Before Sun Qi could react, she reached out and grabbed at nothing.
Lin Moxiao gritted his teeth and lifted her chin to question her;
"Jiang Shuya, what did you promise me? You wouldn't be with other men."
Jiang Shuya angrily pushed him away;
"Who are you to me? Why should I keep your promise?"
Seeing that she was alright, Sun Qi walked over to her. It turned out to be Mr. Lin, whom he hadn't seen in a long time.
"Mr. Lin, what are you doing? What does she have to do with you?"
