Chapter 212 Careful Protection

When she opened the package, her face turned bright red with embarrassment; inside were the underwear he had bought for her.

My mind raced for seconds before I quickly put it on, and to my astonishment, the whole set fit perfectly.

"Xiaoya, are you done? Come out and get something to eat."

Upon hearing the sound, the door opened, and Jiang Shuya, with her wet hair and wearing a white shirt, came into view.

After her bath, her face was flushed, and her fair skin glowed. Lin Moxiao swallowed hard, then stepped forward and embraced her. "Here, I made you some nourishing soup. Drink it."

After sitting down at the dining table, Jiang Shuya glanced at the bowl of nutritious soup, picked up a spoon, and took a small sip. It had a faint medicinal aroma.

"Is it good? I made it. If you like it, drink more and finish it." Lin Moxiao, sitting next to him, stared at her gently.

Jiang Shuya didn't have much of an appetite; she never had the habit of eating dinner. She frowned.

"Is it bad? Is it really bad?"

Lin Moxiao also took a small sip;

"It's alright. This is Angelica sinensis blood-nourishing soup, which contains several Chinese herbs that can enhance immunity, replenish qi and blood, regulate menstruation, and relieve pain."

Jiang Shuya's voice was low and hoarse;

"Sorry, I don't have much of an appetite. I rarely eat at night, but this soup should be fine."

Several dishes were prepared on the table, all of which were nutritious and easy to digest. However, Jiang Shuya only drank the soup in her bowl and had no appetite for anything else.

Her actions did not anger Lin Moxiao; instead, he looked at her with eyes full of tenderness.

"Why don't you take care of yourself? No wonder you've lost weight. Here, eat a little less, just half a bowl of rice. I made you steamed egg custard with shrimp; it tastes really good. Didn't you say you wanted to try my cooking?"

His tone was extremely gentle as he patiently and tenderly brought the food to her lips.

"How about I feed you?"

Seeing that she didn't speak, he continued;

"Please do me a favor, I'm too lazy to cook, just eat a little, okay?"

Jiang Shuya felt a little awkward, but accepted the food he handed her.

"I'll do it myself."

She dared not eat too much, and tried to chew slowly. Eating too much would cause her great pain at night, and she really didn't want to suffer through the night with a stomachache.

Seeing how intently she ate, Lin Moxiao's smile deepened, and he added a few more dishes to her plate.

It has to be said that his dishes are really delicious, fresh and flavorful, and the saltiness is just right. It seems that there is a reason why there are more men among professional chefs.

She spoke very little, never smiled, and quietly chewed the food in her bowl. Lin Moxiao, however, seemed to enjoy it immensely, his eyes sparkling with starlight, and he spoke softly. At that moment, Jiang Shuya concluded that this man had two sides: when she went along with him, everything was wonderful; when she rebelled against him, it was earth-shattering.

After dinner, Jiang Shuya was fixing her blow-dried hair. She had just looked around the four-bedroom, two-living-room apartment. It was very spacious and fully equipped, but it felt empty, probably because it was newly purchased. There was no sense of home life, which suited her aloof personality perfectly.

That evening, she went to the bathroom and saw Lin Moxiao carefully ironing the yellow dress for her. His persistent look was particularly charming. Jiang Shuya had to admit that although this man had hurt her, she could still be moved by something he did for her.

She snapped out of her daze, pulled herself back to reality, lowered her head, and brushed her teeth and washed her face.

Since she had no feminine hygiene products, she quickly washed her face, found a small bedroom, and planned to make her bed and sleep, but after searching around, she couldn't find any blankets.

Of the four rooms, only two bedrooms had beds, and only the master bedroom had a blanket, which was obviously where Lin Moxiao slept.

When she was frowning, Lin Moxiao came over, picked her up without saying a word, and carried her into the master bedroom.

You'll sleep here tonight.

He walked into the large bed, lifted the covers, and placed her on the bed;

"Stop looking, only this bedroom has blankets."

Jiang Shuya looked up: "I'll sleep here, where will you sleep?"

Lin Moxiao lay down beside her:

"Where do you think I should sleep? You're the lady of the house; there's no reason for you to sleep in the guest room."

Jiang Shuya's heart clenched, and she moved to the side. He followed her inside, not forgetting to pinch her cheek.

"You're quite confident that you don't even use skincare products after washing your face."

She continued to move further in, trying to avoid his advances. Lin Moxiao, afraid that his actions would anger her, stopped teasing her.

"I need to go to the study. You go to sleep first, I'll come back to keep you company when I'm done."

He's been incredibly busy these days, shuttling between the company, Meiyuan, Nancheng, and Hexi. The company is his grandmother's business, Meiyuan is her home, and her condition is very unstable, sometimes better and sometimes worse.

It was a place he couldn't let go of. The company was a place where he had to go to make decisions. Nancheng was a piece of land that Jiangning Garment Factory had just acquired after its relocation. The garment factory needed to be rebuilt, and he had to make many decisions, such as the placement of personnel, the planning of the factory, the modification of new manufacturing machines, the purchase of embossing machines, and the flow of funds.

He desperately needed a new assistant to take charge of the overall situation, so that he could completely free up his time to be in Hexi, by her side, to win her back, and to make amends to her. What he had always wanted was very simple: a job he loved and someone to spend his life with.

Some people easily lose track of time once they start working. In the dead of night, he finally sent out the last file, stretched, and went to his bedroom.

Jiang Shuya lay on the bed, curled up in a ball wrapped in the blanket. She seemed to be on high alert even in her sleep. He smiled and pulled the blanket up a little for her. He lay down beside her and listened to her even breathing as he slowly drifted off to sleep.

He slept exceptionally soundly that night. Having been tormented by demons for so long, it was rare for him to sleep until dawn. When he woke up, Jiang Shuya had already gotten out of bed and dressed.

She had something very important to do today, so she got up relatively early. Seeing that he was still sleeping, she didn't disturb him. After washing up in the morning, she wanted to slip away, but when she got to the door, she couldn't open it no matter what she did. She suddenly remembered that he had used a magnetic card yesterday. She searched around the entryway but couldn't find it, so she searched his walk-in closet as well, but to no avail.

Later, when we went to the study, it was empty. There were only a few books on the bookshelf and a computer on the table. The drawers on the table were locked and couldn't be opened.

Jiang Shuya couldn't help but mutter to herself, standing outside the bedroom for a while; could the key be on him?

So she tiptoed into the room and saw that he was still asleep. She reached under the covers, touched his clothes, and found the pocket of his pajamas. There was only one pocket on the pajamas, and there was still nothing there. Just as she sighed helplessly, she was unaware that he had pulled her into the covers. Before she could resist, he had pinned her down.
