Chapter 221 Revisiting the Old Case

The purchasing manager revealed that other companies also needed to order grapes, so the two visited two more companies. That's how business works: when you need something, I happen to have it, and the price is reasonable, so cooperation is easy. After the three companies reached an agreement, Sun Qi was completely bewildered.

"Sister-in-law, we've sold over two hundred boxes already."

Jiang Shuya's brows relaxed. "Yes, and there's more. If I remember correctly, the other two companies that placed orders with me last year are not far from here. Let's go grab a bite to eat first, and then we can secure those other orders too. Then you and Sister Hui can clear out all the grapes in the house."

The two went to a seafood noodle restaurant and each ordered a bowl of three-delicacy noodles.

After taking their seats, Jiang Shuya said, "I'll ask a few more companies later. The office buildings around here seem to really like Jiangdao grapes. I sold them here last year, and they were very popular. Word spread quickly – people were placing orders for boxes."

Sun Qi's face immediately lit up with a smile, but a hint of sadness flashed in her eyes again; "Sister-in-law, are we going to sell Hao-ge's grapes together? Auntie asked me about them today."

Jiang Shuya asked curiously, "Didn't you say a few days ago that her family member, that Zhang Qing, helped her sell them? How come she's contacting you again?"

Sun Qi scratched his head, looking disdainful. "I asked, and Zhang Qing did help her sell over twenty boxes, but she hasn't paid her. I didn't ask in detail, but I could tell from her words that she wasn't counting on her anymore."

Jiang Shuya chuckled twice, eating the noodles in her bowl. "There are definitely a lot of orders. Chen Lin still has over three hundred boxes; I've given them all to you. If you're willing to help her with the orders, then go ahead, but don't tell them it was my decision, because I don't want to have anything to do with them."

Sun Qi nodded; "I understand, I know the logic. I'm only doing this out of respect for Brother Hao. I've been bullied and beaten since I was little, and Brother Hao has helped me a lot. I'll definitely help if I can."

Jiang Shuya didn't say anything, because these were all childhood friendships between them, and she didn't want to pay attention to them.

"Sister-in-law, what's going on between you and that Mr. Lin? You didn't choose him, which shows how good he is to you. Even after being beaten, he was still concerned about whether you were hurt. He's a good man, and I want to learn from him. I think a man should be like him."

After Sun Qi finished speaking, his eyes darted around and stared at Jiang Shuya.

Jiang Shuya finished her noodles, took a tissue to wipe her mouth, and said, "I don't want to mention him. Don't mention him in front of me again."

That evening, Sun Qi went to Huang's courtyard and found Huang Minghao, explaining the grape order for two days later.

"Brother Hao, there are 352 boxes in total. Can we eat all of them? Will the crops in the field be ripe enough?"

Huang Minghao has been extremely stressed about selling grapes these past few days. He has negotiated with the vendors several times, but the prices they offered were too low, and no agreement was reached. He even went to Jiang Shuya, who scornfully asked him to use the friendship they had built up over drinks. However, all his childhood friends have large tracts of grapes and are trying their best to sell them at a good price. They are not going to help each other out.

Upon receiving the order from Sun Qi, Li Yuxiang beamed with joy. "I knew it! Xiaoya still cares about our family. She wouldn't refuse to help. I used to always say she favored outsiders, but look, when something big happens in this family, we can't do without her. Haohao, hurry up and go pick her up, apologize to her, and I'll cook her something delicious. She always loved my cooking and praised it while she ate!"

Huang Minghao looked troubled. He couldn't bring himself to say it, because Jiang Shuya hadn't been coming home lately. She would ask her son every now and then, but Huang Minghao could only say that Jiang Shuya had run away from home in a fit of anger. Li Yuxiang also thought that the couple had a fight.

Sun Qi, standing to the side, also guessed that Li Yuxiang did not know that they had already divorced.

Faced with his mother's urging, Huang Minghao could only give a vague answer: "Mom, she's busy, switching between the two stores. Don't worry, she'll be back. Tangtang's at home; she won't neglect her."

Upon hearing this, Li Yuxiang had no choice but to give up. She quickly went down to the field to see how many pounds of grapes she could harvest, and also took the opportunity to boast about how capable her daughter-in-law was.

Sun Qi had completed her mission and was about to leave.

"Sun Qi, you know that man, right?" Huang Minghao asked.

Sun Qi sighed helplessly and straightened her bag. "Yes, his surname is Lin. I think he was a classmate of yours when you were young. I heard yours call him 'senior,' so I guess he's always had feelings for her. But from your expression, I can tell she doesn't want anything to do with him."

Huang Minghao, with a cigarette dangling from his mouth, offered one to Sun Qi, who refused. "What happened with Huang Tao? Can you tell me about it?"

So Sun Qi recounted how Huang Tao broke into her home late that night and tried to assault Jiang Shuya.

Upon hearing this, Huang Minghao stood there stunned, as if struck by lightning. He remained silent for a long time, his blood boiling with anger.

Next, Sun Qi told Jiang Shuya about how she and she had followed Huang Tao. To outsiders, those child trafficking cases seemed like pure coincidences, but Huang Tao had been doing some shady things and was discovered by them. They reported it to the police, but Huang Tao was familiar with Jiangdao and managed to escape.

"Is that Lin guy Jiang Shuya called in as a helper?" Huang Minghao asked, exhaling smoke.

Sun Qi nodded; "Yes."

Huang Minghao didn't say anything more. He never expected that while he was away from home, his relatives were all plotting against him. He clenched his fists, gritted his teeth, and regretted that he hadn't wiped Huang Tao out of the family.

The next day, Jiang Shuya got up early. She was still getting used to sleeping on the hard bed these past few days. She received a bouquet of flowers early in the morning. The store staff told her that the delivery guy had delivered it separately. There was a note on it that read: "Darling, happy birthday. I miss you so much that I can't sleep at night."

She then remembered that it was her birthday today. At noon, Sun Qi also gave her a bouquet of pink flowers, with a shy smile.

"Happy birthday, Shuya." After saying that, she blushed and handed her a beautifully wrapped gift.

Before she could react, she received a phone call from her cousin.

After answering the phone, she learned that they were inviting her to dinner that evening to celebrate her birthday. Jiang Shuya shook her head and declined; "It's just a small birthday, there's no need for that. I never celebrate my birthday."

My cousin objected; "How can we not take it seriously? It's your 24th birthday, the second cycle of your life, a year of good fortune, and also your birth year in the Chinese zodiac!"
