Chapter 31 Delivery

In her previous life, she lived frugally, and when buying clothes, she would often go to the big market with her elders. The clothes in the big market were generally of average quality, but they were cheap.

The mall has five floors. The first floor is a high-end area with top domestic and international brands. The second floor is mostly domestic second-tier trendy brands, with a lot of women's clothing. The third floor is for men's clothing. The fourth floor is for home furnishings. The fifth floor is a combination of food, drinks and entertainment.

Jiang Shuya doesn't like shopping. After glancing at the mall's advertising screen, she quickly decided on the second floor. Given her current spending level, the second floor was the only option. She first went to the fourth floor and bought a light gray polo shirt and a pair of black pants. The style was classic, but the quality was excellent, and she bought them as gifts for her grandfather.

On the second floor, in the women's clothing section, I bought my mother-in-law a printed faux silk suit; the style was dignified and elegant.

She bought a sky-blue dress and a casual tracksuit. In the hot summer, she chose breathable fabrics. Both were shorts and short-sleeved. She tried on the tracksuit and walked out of the fitting room, revealing her long, slender legs. The apricot white color made her skin look particularly fair, which drew praise from the sales assistant.

As I was going downstairs, I saw the cosmetics section and wandered around. I tried some samples at a counter. Because my skin is quite sensitive and prone to allergies, I chose a set of breathable and hypoallergenic skincare products based on my own situation, which cost me over a thousand yuan. Looking at the two thousand yuan I brought with me, I realized that I had almost nothing left.

Back on Jiang Island, she delivered the clothes to her grandfather's house. Her grandfather was very happy. His trembling hands touched the fabric, and he complained a few times that it was too expensive. But seeing Jiang Shuya's smiling face, he didn't want to disappoint his granddaughter-in-law, so he tried the clothes on. They fit perfectly. Sure enough, in her previous life, she had sold clothes for many years. She didn't have any other skills, but she could estimate what size people wore just by looking at them.

Meeting Grandma's praising gaze, I suddenly realized how inconsiderate I had been—I hadn't bought her anything. I awkwardly offered a few words of comfort, promising to make it up to her next time. Grandma waved her hand dismissively, simply telling me to live a good life, as that was what they wanted to see most.

When I got home, I first took my own things upstairs, and then handed the clothes I bought for my mother-in-law to her separately. My mother-in-law was overjoyed and tried on the suit, praising how well it fit her. She thought to herself, "I was just worried about not having a suitable outfit for your aunt's son's wedding banquet. Now this is perfect, everything is taken care of."

Seeing Tangtang's big, dark eyes darting around her grandmother, she cheered and jumped for joy.

The laughter inside was broken by a phone beeping. Picking up the phone, she saw it was an unfamiliar number. After a moment's confirmation, she realized it was the person from Gate C of FR Company on Software Avenue who had previously asked for her number. They wanted to buy grapes…hmm…a lot…a reasonable price? The quantity was indeed quite large—200 cases of Kyoho grapes. Jiang Shuya was shocked. Seeing the other party's demand for a more sincere price, she didn't want to miss such an opportunity. After some haggling, they finally agreed on 40 yuan per case, to be delivered to Gate C of FR Company on Software Avenue before noon the next day.

After hanging up the phone, he slapped his forehead, exclaimed in surprise, and felt a little flustered and incredulous. He ran towards Zhang Xiaohui's house, and when he saw her, he explained his purpose. If she wasn't willing to buy at that price, he had other options. Jiangdao was currently having a large supply of grapes, so there was no shortage. He could also buy from other vendors, picking the best ones for a maximum of three yuan per kilogram. After all, it was two thousand kilograms! That price was definitely achievable. He calculated that he should be able to make a little over two thousand yuan. Thinking of this, he suddenly felt excited.

Upon seeing her, he paused for a moment, deciding to give Zhang Xiaohui the initiative. He then explained the order he had just received, including the price, and waited for Zhang Xiaohui to make a decision. Zhang Xiaohui looked delighted but feigned composure, saying, "That's wonderful! Xiaoya, you're amazing! You've helped me so much! My hair has been falling out a lot these past few days. Today, I asked someone to come to the orchard, and they only offered me two yuan a pound. I gritted my teeth and didn't sell it to them."

Zhang Xiaohui tugged at a stray hair and said, "Look! Let's stick to the same old way. I'll give you 20%, and I'll cover the car fare and the gift box. Is that okay?" After saying that, she subconsciously hugged Jiang Shuya. She was so happy. Her family had a lot of grapes, a full six acres. When they ripened, it would cover a whole field. Now that things were changing every day, how could she not be anxious?

After making the decision, the two went to the ferry terminal together to order 200 gift boxes. When they carried them home, they decided to get up at 4 a.m. the next morning to pick grapes.

They arrived home happily. Her mother-in-law had already fed Tangtang rice cereal and then took her out for a walk to digest. Jiang Shuya enjoyed the leisure, placing the bottles and jars of skincare products she had bought that day on the dressing table and leisurely glancing at the instructions.

It was already completely dark when her mother-in-law gave Tangtang a bath. Jiang Shuya fed her milk before going to bed, said goodbye to her mother-in-law, told her that she had to get up early the next day, handed Tangtang over to her, went upstairs to set an alarm on her phone, and fell into a deep sleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

I slept soundly through the night, still feeling drowsy, when I was woken up by a series of discordant noises. I didn't want to get up, and after lying there for a few minutes, I still couldn't get any peace. Finally, I made up my mind to get up and, without even washing up, went to Zhang Xiaohui's vineyard in my pajamas.

They carefully went downstairs, closed the door, and went outside. It was still dark. Walking along the path, there were small ditches on both sides, overgrown with water plants that made gurgling sounds. A gentle breeze brought them in, and their sleepiness slowly dissipated. When they arrived at the vineyard, Zhang Xiaohui was already standing there, bending over, picking bunches of fruit and putting them into bamboo baskets. When she saw Jiang Shuya, she smiled, handed her a pair of scissors, and said gently, "You pick them. I'll carry the two baskets home and put them in the box first. I'm afraid the bamboo baskets won't be enough."

Jiang Shuya slapped her forehead, realizing she hadn't thought of bringing her own. She still reminded her to put some grape leaves in each box, as it was late at night and the dew was heavy.

"I know, you said it yesterday." After saying that, he picked up his load and swayed as he left the vineyard, leaving Jiang Shuya in the field. Looking around, it was still dark, and a sense of fear crept into her heart. She pulled herself back to reality and quickly began to harvest the grapes. Fortunately, they were all ripe; otherwise, it would have been difficult to find them in the dark.

The bunches of grapes were huge, and she harvested them very quickly. I don't know how Zhang Xiaohui grew them, but I truly admire her. The two of them worked together very well. By the time Zhang Xiaohui had finished picking and packing the grapes and placed the empty baskets in front of me, I don't know how many times she had done it. I stretched and looked at the sky; it was already bright daylight.

After picking the last two baskets, Zhang Xiaohui said with a smile, "Xiaoya, that's about enough, come out!" When the two arrived at Zhang Xiaohui's house, they saw every box of grapes lying there. The bunches were quite large, with a maximum of three bunches in each box. The boxes were weighed one by one, and Jiang Shuya was in charge of packing them.
