Chapter 38 Reversal

Perhaps it was as if they were fighting against the heavens, for at this moment, thunder roared and lightning flashed, and the sky seemed to crack open, with streaks of silvery light flashing and falling on Sun Xiaoman's face, making Jiang Shuya feel uneasy.

Sun Xiaoman was being held by Sun Qi the whole time. Wang Tingting was curious about how much Sun Qi must love her younger brother. She couldn't help but take a few more glances at him before leaving.

Jiang Shuya hugged Tangtang tightly, covered her ears, and silently prayed: It'll be over soon, it'll be over soon, just hang in there a little longer.

When Jiang Shuya got home in the evening, exhausted from a long day and on the verge of dislocating her shoulder, she was about to lie down to sleep when she heard Xiao Hui calling from downstairs, "Xiaoya, Xiaoya."

Looking through the window, I saw Zhang Xiaohui holding something in her arms, so I called her down to eat.

I suddenly realized that I had been so busy all day that I was exhausted and hadn't eaten lunch or dinner.

Zhang Xiaohui took the food upstairs and placed it on the coffee table in the living room. The food was in a large lunchbox, with rice and vegetables clearly separated – white rice and several side dishes. Jiang Shuya didn't care about anything else and started eating heartily. Zhang Xiaohui had a smile on her face, but also a look of concern. Tangtang, in her arms, watched her mother eat with gusto, her little eyes fixed on her, smacking her lips and drooling.

Zhang Xiaohui opened the insulated container of soup next to her; it was loofah and egg soup. "Eat slowly, drink some soup first. Don't eat too fast, it's bad for your stomach."

Jiang Shuya wiped her mouth shyly: "Sister Xiaohui, ever since I ate your cooking, I feel like no other food tastes good anymore."

"Your cooking skills are probably better than those of the restaurants around here. I think you could start a farmhouse restaurant. How about we team up?"

Zhang Xiaohui shook her head and said, "I'm too busy. I need to sell the grapes and take care of the kids. There's no one at my house. What about yours? Sigh... Never mind. After I sell the grapes, I'll cook for the wedding banquet. It's not much, but it'll be enough to cover household expenses. I came to ask you something! There's a Liu family in Zhou Tou Village getting married on September 18th. Are they relatives of yours? They came to see me a few days ago and asked me to cook for the banquet. My sister-in-law recommended me. There aren't many grapes left in the field. We can only harvest one last batch at most. I thought it wouldn't be a problem, so I agreed."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Shuya paused for a moment, then nodded.

Zhang Xiaohui and Luo's sister-in-law were both excellent cooks. Zhang Xiaohui was good at plating cold dishes and stir-frying, while Luo's sister-in-law was good at braising, stewing, and making desserts. The two sisters-in-law had worked together for several years, splitting their earnings equally without any complaints or estrangement.

It was not surprising that the two sisters-in-law were invited to host the banquet this time.

After a delicious vegetarian meal, they ate it all up, leaving not even a drop of soup. Jiang Shuya let out a satisfied burp, stretched, and glanced at the lunchbox. She suggested that they could turn it into a fast-food delivery service, delivering it to office buildings and construction sites around Hexi. Many companies don't have their own canteens, so they could go door-to-door to promote it, make an advertising brochure, and take the opportunity to create their own brand and implement online ordering.

Zhang Xiaohui found the model she was talking about a bit hard to digest and was somewhat confused. She didn't refute it or express her opinion. Jiang Shuya didn't make things difficult for her and told her to go back and think about it. There was plenty of time in the future. She should solve her own problems first and then consider other things.

Speaking of her husband, he is still detained at the police station. Since no one is willing to pay bail, he can only serve three months in accordance with the law.

Zhang Xiaohui's most important task now is to negotiate with him and start the divorce process.

The next day, after two days of running around, Jiang Shuya received another share, which was divided among Zhang Xiaohui, Grandma Sun, the Luo family, and the Wang family, totaling 3200. Adding this to the income from the previous few days, her total income was 6200.

The income was substantial, but the grape season would soon be over. Before Jiang Shuya could even consider her next move, Huang Minghao returned.

While I was changing Tangtang's clothes upstairs, I heard my mother-in-law exclaim downstairs. I looked down and saw a tall figure standing in the yard, wearing a black nautical uniform with bright yellow medals on both shoulders and two yellow stripes on his wrists. He looked very dignified in his uniform.

His mother-in-law took the black bag from his hand with one hand and kept stroking his face with the other, showing a pained expression. She talked and looked at him as she pulled him into the house.

Jiang Shuya took a deep breath. It was inevitable. Composing herself, she slowly regained her composure, picked up Tangtang, and headed downstairs.

Her hesitant steps were very slow, her movements very light; what would normally be a blink of an eye took her dozens of seconds to walk.

Standing at the top of the stairs, their eyes met instantly. His once handsome face darkened, his eyes became melancholy, and his face looked somewhat haggard, revealing no emotion. At that moment, Tangtang in his arms turned her head to look at him curiously.

His mother-in-law and he were both sitting there, looking at her.

Jiang Shuya smiled faintly at him silently, as if in a daze her past life, when she saw him return, she excitedly rushed to hug him and wait for his kiss.

The two fell silent for a moment. Huang Minghao stared at Jiang Shuya and saw that she glanced at him expressionlessly, calmly and without any ripples, unlike her usual passionate self. He couldn't help but feel puzzled.

"Tangtang, let Daddy hug you, okay?" Jiang Shuya broke the silence and went over to hand Tangtang to Huang Minghao.

Unexpectedly, she stubbornly turned her face away and hugged her mother's neck tightly in protest, causing Huang Minghao's outstretched hand to freeze instantly.

"She might be a little unfamiliar with you, so you should spend more time with her these days." Jiang Shuya's warm aura wafted over him, and she had a natural fragrance that softened Huang Minghao's demeanor. He reached out and took Tangtang's hand, then patted her head.

At this moment, his mother-in-law sat next to him as if she had a lot to say to him. She glared at Jiang Shuya, but seeing this, she didn't dare to speak. She made an excuse to go to the market to buy some vegetables.

"Mom, no need. We'll eat at Uncle's house later. I went to Grandpa's house first on my way back and told him." Huang Minghao said, then picked up his bag and went upstairs.

Jiang Shuya hesitated, holding Tangtang, wondering whether to come along. Huang Minghao was already standing at the corner of the stairs and said in a deep voice, "Come up and help me get my clothes. I want to take a shower."

Jiang Shuya slowed her pace and followed, inwardly cursing, "Am I your mother? Don't I have hands?"

Carrying the increasingly heavy Tangtang, my arms were starting to ache. I rummaged through the clothes he brought in his bag and found they were all dirty. I then went back to the closet and pulled out some old summer clothes. When I got to the bathroom door, I heard the sound of running water coming from inside. I knocked on the door and handed the clothes to a large hand that had just reached out.

Just then, I heard the old man downstairs coming home from get off work. He stood at the top of the stairs looking around, but his mother called him away.

A moment later, the water stopped flowing, and the man came out shirtless, drying his hair with a towel. A long, centipede-like stitch on his chest was exposed. He was wearing shorts, and the veins on his legs were clearly visible. The unique scent of male hormones wafted over the air.

Seeing Tangtang staring intently at him, Huang Minghao couldn't help but smile slightly, walked over, picked up Tangtang, and kissed her.

"Wash the clothes I brought in my bag, there are still some in the bathroom." Huang Minghao said in a low voice, without looking up at Tangtang in his arms.

Jiang Shuya picked up her bag and dumped all the clothes she had gathered from the bathroom into the washing machine.
