Chapter 96 Tracking

Jiang Shuya pondered for a moment and said in a low voice, "I think this matter is related to Huang Tao. He may only be responsible for finding a hiding place for the child. They should be a gang. They are more conspicuous during the day, so he would not dare to make any rash moves. He would definitely move the three children at night. Right now, we must find that hiding place."

Sun Qi clenched her fists tightly, still unable to believe that Huang Tao would do such a heinous thing. From childhood to adulthood, she had only heard that he was a petty thief and a thief outside, but after returning home, he could have evil thoughts about his younger siblings and do such despicable things. Considering his past, it was not surprising that his behavior had no bottom line.

Sun Qi: "Sister-in-law, what should we do? Should we keep an eye on Huang Tao and follow him?"

Jiang Shuya knew that Sun Qi was no match for Huang Tao, especially since they were a gang with vastly different strengths. After thinking it over, she couldn't find anyone more suitable. If she called the police and acted rashly without evidence, the three children would surely move to the other side of the river and be lost in the vast sea, making them difficult to find again. It was best to find out their hiding place first before taking any action.

Jiang Shuya pondered for a long time, her brow furrowing slightly: "He should be looking for a place on our Jiang Island these past two days. You know more people in Xixia Village, so find a reliable person to inquire about Huang Tao's movements. If you find anything amiss, we'll follow him, and once we confirm, we'll immediately call the police."

“Okay, I’ll have my uncle inquire right away. My uncle and Huang Tao’s father have been childhood friends. I’ll have him try to find out what’s going on. I’ll let you know as soon as I get any news. But I still think it’s a bit dangerous for the two of us to follow him. We need to find two more people.”

Jiang Shuya frowned: "Okay, I'll think about it some more!"

After Jiang Shuya finished speaking, she handed him the newspaper in her hand: "These are pictures of the three children who went missing before. Take a copy and memorize their appearance first."

After they finished talking, they went home separately. Jiang Shuya took a flashlight and headed towards Dageng. Although it was already dark, the lights of the houses along the riverbank were still on. When she reached the embankment, she saw that her grandparents had already turned off their lights and gone to sleep. She glanced at the house she had built. Across the river below was her second uncle's house. Her eldest uncle's house was her second uncle's neighbor. The house was just two cement tile houses. There was an outhouse in the backyard wall, and outside was a pile of firewood. To the west was a large private plot of land, which was empty and had not been used to build any illegal houses. It was planted with a lot of Chinese cabbages.

Jiang Shuya quietly bypassed her eldest uncle's house and went to her second uncle's house. She peered into the backyard and stood by the pile of firewood for a while. Then she walked along the firewood wall to the vegetable garden in the west corner and went to the window of Huang Tao's room. It was freezing cold, and the ground was covered with frost. The cabbages in the garden were frozen solid like statues, standing upright. Listening through the window, she didn't see Huang Tao inside. She hesitated for a while and was about to leave when the light inside suddenly turned on. Huang Tao had returned. Then she heard a series of confident voices: "Don't worry! Brother Song, you've come to the right place. I'll definitely arrange everything for you. Just send him over. Once you find a new home, come and take him away directly. We'll help you send him away. You won't have to worry about anything. Just give me a specific time, and I'll find you a good place."

Through the light, it was clear that Huang Tao was on the phone with someone, his cautious demeanor a stark contrast to the day before yesterday.

She didn't hear the exact time on the phone, only Huang Tao's obsequious, fawning expression. After hanging up, Huang Tao immediately hummed a song, flopped onto the bed, kicked off his shoes, smiled, and his muscular face twitched. Suddenly, his expression changed, revealing a ruthless look. Jiang Shuya, who had wanted to hear more compelling information, was startled by his sudden change in expression. She involuntarily thought of what had happened a few days ago, shuddered, clenched her lips, and almost dropped her flashlight. She ran frantically, glancing back at Wang. In the darkness, she was the only shadow in the night. The lights of the houses along the river and road had been turned off one by one, with only a faint light shining on the road, adding a touch of brightness to the dark night under the bright moonlight.

When Jiang Shuya returned home, she saw that the old man was still fast asleep. She wanted to ask when her mother-in-law would return from taking Tangtang to her maternal grandmother's house, but seeing that he was asleep, she closed the door and did not disturb him.

That night, she was plagued by nightmares, constantly being chased and wounded all over her body as she ran. She was eventually ambushed by a man wielding a large knife, her face covered in sweat from the tension. A sudden realization jolted her awake. Despite having dreamt all night, she was still exhausted, her face pale and weak. When she got up, she casually tied her hair into a bun, did a quick wash, and then headed to the mall again.

Yushan Apartment

When Lin Moxiao returned, she stood at the door of the dressing room, staring at the white down jacket hanging there, feeling secretly sad.

Aunt Lan came out of the kitchen and said calmly, "Mr. Lin, Miss Jiang didn't ask you for anything. She must have left alone. She left me a note asking me to wash the quilt. She said she didn't need the clothes and asked me to give them to someone who needed them. She is really kind and beautiful. It's a pity she didn't meet a husband who cherishes her. I think she was worried that I would have nothing to do. She is very considerate of others."

Lin Moxiao was somewhat surprised: "Aunt Lan, he told you about his private affairs."

Aunt Lan realized she had said the wrong thing and said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Lin, I shouldn't have talked about her. Oh! It's really my fault for being so nosy. But don't worry, I won't tell anyone else."

Lin Moxiao looked at her steadily, her eyes filled with a smile: "Aunt Lan, don't be nervous. I don't mean to blame you. Just don't talk about it outside. Don't overthink it."

Aunt Lan naturally understood Mr. Lin's special treatment of Miss Jiang. Having been through similar experiences herself, she thought that perhaps the two had missed their chance, which was why Mr. Lin was left with unrequited love for Miss Jiang. Based on her observations, Miss Jiang might not have had such thoughts about him. She wanted to kindly offer a reminder, but then she saw Lin Moxiao return to his usual demeanor, his face as cold as frost without a trace of emotion. Aunt Lan sighed silently in her heart: Even if Miss Jiang were single, she might not choose Mr. Lin. This cold personality is only suitable for living alone.

Lin Moxiao, who was in the study, had no idea what Aunt Lan was thinking. He saw the Sherlock Holmes book that had been flipped through a few pages, wrapped the whole set in a book cover, picked up his phone to send her a text message, and thought about how to come up with an excuse. Suddenly, he saw the concert tickets he had just received on the desk and an idea came to him.

Jiang Shuya, who was engrossed in checking the goods, was startled by a ringing phone. She cursed inwardly: "Damn it, which bastard is disturbing my inspection of the goods?" She took out her phone and glanced at the caller ID. She didn't recognize the number and hadn't saved it. After a moment's thought, she ruthlessly rejected the call.
