Chapter 233 Face to Face

Jiang Shuhuai had lunch with his sister at the shop and immediately prepared to set off for Lida Shopping Mall to confront Li Xiaoru.

Just then, a boy carrying flowers entered the shop; "Excuse me, which one of you is Miss Jiang, Jiang Shuya?"

Jiang Shuhuai, who was the first to reach the door, asked, "What do you want with my sister?"

The boy handed Jiang Shuhuai a large bouquet of red roses and said:

"This is a flower order from Mr. Lin for Ms. Jiang. He's our VIP customer, and he subscribed for six months. Starting today, we'll deliver to you every day."

Jiang Shuhuai, holding a bouquet of red roses, stared blankly at Jiang Shuya, speechless.

"Sister, what's going on? Which Mr. Lin?"

Jiang Shuya looked at the box of flowers, inside which was a note. She picked it up and glanced at it: "Shuya, I love you. I think of you every day."

After reading it, Jiang Shuya immediately crumpled it into a ball, her heart racing.

"Sis, are you alright? You still haven't told me who Mr. Lin is, or why he sent you flowers."

Jiang Shuya took a deep breath, her expression stiff. "Just leave it at that. Put the flowers on the counter, let's go!"

Upon hearing this, Jiang Shuhuai handed the flowers to Xiao Liu at the cashier and jogged after her.

The two remained silent on the way and soon arrived at Lida Shopping Mall. They found Li Xiaoru at the Baitu store. Upon seeing her older cousin whom she hadn't seen for several days, she was unexpectedly flustered and quickly sent a message to Wang Ziliang.

"Cousin, you... what brings you here? Is something wrong?" Her voice sounded a little guilty.

Jiang Shuya stared intently at her.

"Shuhuai, show her what you recorded."

Jiang Shuhuai turned on his phone and held it out. Li Xiaoru saw herself in the camera's view, her mouth agape in disbelief: "Cousin, you installed a camera in my room! You tricked me!"

"Don't try to frame me first, okay? You stole the key and sneaked into my room to steal money. Now the evidence is conclusive. You still want to deny it? Return the stolen money right now, or I'll call the police. The money you stole is enough to get you sentenced." Jiang Shuhuai said angrily.

Upon hearing that the police were going to be called, Li Xiaoru instantly lowered her stance and looked at Jiang Shuya; "Cousin, I had my reasons for stealing the money. My dad is sick and needs money, my brother is in school, and I'm the only one earning money in the family. My mom has to take care of my dad. What should I do? I had no other choice!"

Jiang Shuya showed no sympathy for her complaints, and said;

"Xiaoru, I told you before, you should tell me immediately if you have any difficulties. Why did you choose this path? Your uncle's illness is chronic gastritis, which requires treatment. He's been taking Chinese medicine for years, but it's not as serious as you're making it out to be. Hand over the money you took!"

Upon hearing this, Li Xiaoru became flustered and stammered, "The money was all sent to my father to buy medicine."

"Really? Shuhuai, call Mom right now and have her call your eldest uncle herself to ask how much money you've sent home in the six months since you started working."

Jiang Shuhuai picked up his phone to make a call, but Li Xiaoru stopped him. In her mind, her aunt was the most terrifying person. She was domineering and had zero tolerance for those who made mistakes. She was just as harsh on her own children, let alone her niece. If her aunt found out that she had stolen money, her whole family would be ridiculed.

"Cousin Xiaoru, you know my mom's personality. She hates petty theft the most. You've always loved to steal things since you were little, and your family never held it against you. You also know my mom's methods."

When you were little, you stayed at my house for a few days. You stole five yuan from her pocket to buy something to eat at the shop, and then falsely accused me of taking it. Didn't you see how she punished me? Being hung up and beaten was awful. Now we're both adults, and I'm not going to waste my breath on you. Let's go to the police station and talk about it.

Li Xiaoru hurriedly grabbed Shu Huai's arm, her face pleading; "Cousin, please don't tell Auntie, I beg you, I've spent all that money on things."

Jiang Shuhuai clenched his fists upon hearing this; "I don't care, give me back the money, right now."

"Xiaoru, this video is from yesterday. Have you spent all the four thousand yuan you got yesterday?" Jiang Shuya asked.

Li Xiaoru's heart skipped a beat, and she lowered her head. "I'll go get it, wait a moment." With that, she turned and went into the shop.

A moment later, Li Xiaoru returned, holding a wad of cash, and handed it to Jiang Shuhuai.

After taking the money, Jiang Shuhuai quickly counted it and found that it didn't match up at all:

"No, it's only three thousand, a thousand short. There's also the previous five thousand, and you took the first two thousand, right?"

Li Xiaoru did not refute, but lowered her head and acquiesced, her face full of tearful grievance as she said;

"Yesterday I spent 1,000 yuan on a bag. Some of the money I had before went out, and some went to buying a phone."

Jiang Shuya looked puzzled.

"You don't need rent, your salary covers your food, so you stole this money just to satisfy your vanity? Where did all those clothes in your closet come from?"

Jiang Shuya felt a chill run down her spine as she thought about her clothes and cosmetics; "Did Wang Ziliang buy them for you?"

Originally, when two people are in a relationship, it's a matter of mutual consent. It's understandable that Wang Ziliang is willing to spend money on Li Xiaoru, but he can't take it for granted.

Just then, Wang Ziliang ran over, panting heavily; "Xiaoru, you were looking for me."

Seeing Jiang Shuya there, he greeted her, "Cousin, what brings you here again!"

Jiang Shuya's expression was grave as she asked, "Ziliang, did Xiaoru borrow money from you?"

Wang Ziliang looked at Li Xiaoru, unsure whether to say yes or no, but Li Xiaoru had indeed borrowed money from him.

"Really? Ziliang, don't lie to me."

Seeing Jiang Shuya's anger, Wang Ziliang smiled brightly; "That was voluntary, and it wasn't much money."

Jiang Shuya turned to look at Li Xiaoru; "You tell me, how much is it?"

Li Xiaoru lowered her head, sobbing slightly, and held up two fingers: "Twenty thousand."

Jiang Shuya was shocked upon hearing this. She had no idea what her cousin needed so much money for, and asked, "What did you do with the money you borrowed from him?"

Li Xiaoru pursed her lips and remained silent, but Wang Ziliang spoke up;

"She told me she liked your yellow evening gown. I spent a whole day shopping with her in downtown Nanjing before finally finding it in a high-end clothing store. The color was similar, but the style was slightly different, but she still liked it, so I bought it for her. It wasn't a loan; it was something I was willing to give."

Jiang Shuya was trembling with anger as she looked at Li Xiaoru;

"Xiaoru, I'm giving you two options. First, quit your job immediately, go back to your hometown, break up with Wang Ziliang, and leave Xixia Village."

Second, tell Ziliang about your various disgraceful behaviors, seriously consider your relationship, and write an IOU for the money you took from Shuhuai.
