As she entered the mall, she was about to take the escalator to the second floor, looking travel-worn, when someone called her name. She looked around but saw no one and assumed it was Wang Tingting calling her. Then, a second later, she heard another call.
"Jiang Shuya, it's you." A man called out her name.
The sound came from the direction of the people coming down the escalator.
In an instant, a tall, handsome man stood before her.
This is the same person who had dinner with my cousin last time: Lin Moxiao.
Suppressing her surprise, she took the initiative to greet him: "Senior Lin, it's you."
He still had the appearance of a handsome scholar, especially his pale face.
Lin Moxiao looked up at the upstairs area and said, "Yes, I'm here to work out today."
Judging from his slightly damp hair, he must have finished working out, taken a shower, and blow-dried his hair until it was half dry.
His dark eyes made him appear even more aloof. Jiang Shuya was used to seeing men with bronze or wheat-colored skin. Whether it was her younger brother, Huang Minghao, Chen Lin, or her father, they all had a natural bronze complexion, which looked very natural and healthy.
The man in front of her was noticeably fairer than them, and Jiang Shuya didn't have a good first impression of him. Out of politeness, she only gave him a curt response.
Perhaps she really wasn't used to seeing him, because she quickly came to her senses and said, "Senior Lin, you're busy. I have something to do, so I'll take my leave first."
He was about to leave after saying that.
"Jiang Shuya".
She was stopped again, somewhat confused. She turned around and looked at him, looking a little bewildered.
"Well, I was in a bit of a rush when I left today and forgot to bring any money. Could you treat me to a meal?" He was polite and gentlemanly, without the slightest hint of being short of money. He then explained, "I was in a hurry when I left this morning and didn't have time to eat. I'm really hungry now."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Shuya took out a 100-yuan note from her bag and handed it over, saying, "Is this enough? If not, I'll get you more."
"Come upstairs with me for dinner! I have something to tell you," Lin Moxiao said mysteriously.
"Just tell me what's wrong here! I'm really busy." Jiang Shuya said somewhat reluctantly.
"It's about your cousin, don't you want to know?" Lin Moxiao's attitude was somewhat mysterious.
Since it's my cousin's business, I should definitely ask her. Maybe she doesn't want to talk to me about it. Could something have happened to her? I remember the last time I met her, she left in a hurry and only talked about work. Could there be some other reason?
She looked up at him and said, "Let's go! To the fifth floor."
The two quickly arrived at the fifth floor, one after the other. She walked very fast, and Lin Moxiao followed behind. They explored all the restaurants on the fifth floor before she asked, "What do you want to eat? You choose."
Lin Moxiao smiled upon hearing this: "You only just remembered to ask me? You seem a little reluctant to be the host!" After saying that, she walked into a buffet restaurant.
Jiang Shuya paid for two people. She originally just wanted him to eat quickly so she could ask about her cousin. But he went into the buffet, and now she had no choice but to eat too. They wouldn't let an adult in.
The waiter arranged seats for the two of them. Jiang Shuya sat there watching him go to get his food, and a little while later she saw him sitting opposite her with a plate of food.
"What happened to my cousin? Can you tell me now?" she asked anxiously.
"Aren't you going to eat? This buffet has a time limit, it's not worth it if you don't eat. Don't worry, your cousin is fine, she's okay." Lin Moxiao put a chicken wing on her plate.
Seeing his calm tone, she suddenly relaxed, picked up the grilled chicken wing in front of her and started eating. She ate very quickly, and finished the chicken wing in a few bites. Lin Moxiao stood up and said to her, "What do you want to eat? I'll get it for you, since you're treating today."
"I eat everything, I'm not picky." Jiang Shuya said irritably, taking another chicken wing from his plate.
"Wait for me, I'll be there soon." Lin Moxiao said excitedly.
A short while later, a large plate of food was placed in front of her. Seeing the chicken wings inside, Jiang Shuya picked out two and handed them to him: "Here you go."
He looked at her calmly, a smile unconsciously spreading across his face. She looked so pleasant to be around. She ate her meal calmly and earnestly, without any affectation or pretense.
Just then, a teenage girl carrying a bouquet of flowers walked over and said softly, "Sir, would you like to buy a bouquet for your girlfriend?"
Jiang Shuya looked at her in surprise and put down her chopsticks: "You've misunderstood. We're not a couple. His girlfriend isn't here."
The little girl stared at Lin Moxiao, motionless, waiting for him to speak.
He leaned closer and whispered, "I think she's quite pitiful. Why don't you buy her some flowers? I'll pay you back later."
Jiang Shuya thought he was going to sell it to his girlfriend, and chuckled softly, "Okay, you said it, pay me back later." Then she looked at the girl and asked, "How much?"
"A bunch of nine stems, forty yuan,"
"Okay, then give me a bouquet."
Jiang Shuya handed over the money, took the flowers, and presented them to Lin Moxiao, saying, "Take these back to your girlfriend! Don't forget to return the money to me!"
Lin Moxiao glanced at the bouquet of flowers but didn't pay it any mind. After the girl left, he slowly ate the vegetable salad in front of him.
"What are those? Why are they all grass?" Jiang Shuya asked curiously.
"This is a vegetable salad, would you like some? I'll get it for you," Lin Moxiao asked, looking at her.
"No need, I only like to eat meat,"
She glanced at the food in front of her and asked again, "Can you speak now?"
Seeing that she was getting impatient, Lin Moxiao stopped being mysterious, wiped her hands, and said, "What kind of guy does Jiang Shuyue like? I'd like to introduce her to one of my colleagues."
He wasn't guilty at all when he said that; he still felt he owed her something and wanted to make it up to her.
Jiang Shuya tried hard to recall. She remembered that her cousin had said a few years ago that she liked an outstanding classmate. Later, she studied even harder and worked very hard in her studies just to get closer to him. However, she didn't know if things had changed after she went to university or if she had met someone she liked.
Jiang Shuya raised an eyebrow: "Since you two are classmates, I think you should ask my cousin directly instead of telling me this. I'm not familiar with you."
This is a direct way of telling him that his cousin is his classmate, and he is not.
Lin Moxiao leaned back in her chair, a look of bewilderment crossing her face. She couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. She had actually said directly that she wasn't familiar with him. Yes! They had only met a few times, and his previous admiration for her was just wishful thinking on his part.
His expression was forlorn, and his brow was slightly furrowed: "Alright, I'll ask him myself later. Also, you really don't remember me...?"
Seeing the grease on her lips from eating, he handed her a tissue and said, "When you were a freshman in high school, I was a senior. On my way home from school, in Shenshui Lane, you were being bullied by a group of people. I was upstairs at my house at the time, and I saw it. I went down to help you out, saved you, and even helped you fight off those people."
Jiang Shuya tried hard to recall her memories, but she couldn't quite distinguish between her past life and this one. In any case, he had indeed saved her, but she didn't remember his name, didn't even glance at him, and didn't say a word of thanks. She hadn't taken that matter to heart at all.
