Chapter 26 Li Biao's Attack Has Arrived

The April wind was warm, and night fell as expected. The darkness still carried the low growls of zombies and the chirping of insects, but it was truly dark. There was no moon, only scattered starlight, from which the outlines of some houses could be vaguely discerned.

Li Biao had scouted the terrain during the day and assigned tasks to each member of his family. If it weren't for the lack of electricity, he would have definitely gathered his cronies and gone on a big mission.

At 1 a.m., when everyone was asleep, Li Biao prepared to go out. He asked his mother to make some noise to lure away the zombies at the door, and then he sneaked out and tiptoed towards Ye Yunyi's house.

There were a few scattered zombies on the road from his house to Ye Yunyi's house, but there were 2-3 zombies crouching at Ye Yunyi's door. He followed suit. He threw small stones a short distance ahead, and the zombies, hearing the sound, ran towards the direction of the stones.

Li Biao reached Ye Yunyi's door without any trouble, hiding under the trumpet creeper vines and carefully observing the door. He didn't dare make a sound, partly because he was afraid the zombies would pounce, and partly because he knew Ye Yunyi's family had dogs, whose barks were much more intelligent than human barks. But gripping the dagger in his hand, Li Biao felt a little more at ease.

Ye Yunyi's house had a very high gate. In addition to reinforcing the developer's iron gate, she also had an extra security door inside, making it very well protected. However, she shouldn't have planted a trumpet vine in front of the gate. In spring, the trumpet vine was growing very well, with thick vines climbing up the walls and the door, some of which had already sprouted orange-red flower buds.

He tried to climb over the iron gate, but could only manage halfway up, unable to reach the top. He slipped, his heart pounding. Luckily, he grabbed on quickly and glanced towards the zombies. One seemed to be looking in his direction, so he held his breath and waited. After 30 seconds, the zombie didn't move.

He was getting angry. Those damned country bumpkins had built such a sturdy door. Once he got inside, he'd make sure that family paid the price.

Li Biao thought he had arrived quietly, but little did he know that everything he was doing was being watched clearly by Ye Yunyi's family on surveillance cameras.

After the power outage, they were very careful with their electricity, so Li Biao didn't know they had electricity, let alone that their power grid was still working.

"Mom, what should we do?" Wang Xuanxuan asked.

"Go turn off the power," Ye Yunyi said to Wang Zixiang.

Wang Zixiang immediately understood and went to turn off the electric fence, but Wang Xuanxuan asked worriedly, "Should we let him in?"

"Yes, have you ever heard of 'closing the door to beat a dog'?" Ye Yunyi said to Wang Xuanxuan with a smile.

Before Wang Xuanxuan could say anything, Dou Dou started humming softly, as if she understood that she was going to beat the dog.

Wang Xuanxuan stroked Dou Dou's head and said, "This dog is not that dog. Dou Dou is not talking about you. Don't make a sound. Let's let that bad guy in and then teach him a lesson."

The power grid here has been shut off, and Ye's parents, Ye Yunyi, Wang Zixiang, and Wang Xuanxuan are all on high alert.

They didn't turn on the lights, and each of them carried a weapon. Ye's father and Wang Zixiang quietly came to the gate, hid behind a tree by the gate, and listened quietly to the sounds outside.

Wang Xuanxuan, with her dog, hid in the cornfield beside the path. The corn was lush and green, just enough to conceal a person.

Ye Yunyi and her mother stood guard by the power switch, while Ye Yunyi held a bow and arrow inside the house, ready to shoot at any moment.

Li Biao was indeed fierce. Sure enough, he lived up to expectations and soon climbed over the 4-meter-high wall. Then he grabbed a branch of the trumpet creeper that had fallen inside the wall and climbed down.

Ye's father and Wang Zixiang watched as Li Biao slowly descended like a bear, without making a sound.

DouDou was quite patient; seeing that Wang Xuanxuan didn't move, it also lay quietly.

Li Biao finally fell to the ground with a slight sound. He looked around nervously, but there was no sound at all. He immediately felt relieved.

But just as he stood still, he suddenly heard a whooshing sound, and then a bamboo arrow flew over. It was so dark that he couldn't see it clearly. By the time he heard the sound, it was too late to dodge, and the bamboo arrow pierced his thigh.

Ye Yunyi only saw a vague black shadow shooting, and she wasn't sure if she could hit the target, but when she heard Li Biao grunt, she knew that she had hit it.

At this moment, Ye's father and Wang Zixiang jumped out from both sides of the tree, waving their wooden sticks and hitting Li Biao repeatedly.

After more than two months of training and farm work, they had become quite strong. A single blow from the stick was quite powerful, and Li Biao was so badly hit that he ran away with his head in his hands, screaming involuntarily. His shrill screams were particularly loud in the quiet night.

The surrounding zombies, drawn by the sound, gathered around and pounded on Ye Yunyi's door.

At the sound of this commotion, Dou Dou jumped out and pounced on Li Biao, giving him a quick bite.

Li Biao's injured foot was bitten again, and blood flowed freely instantly.

But Li Biao was still fierce. He suddenly stood up and roared, "If you don't stop, I'll open the door, let the zombies in, and we'll all die together."

"I made a mistake." Ye Yunyi's heart skipped a beat. Instead of trying to trap the dog by closing the door, she should have put the dog inside the house first, blocked its way in, and then blocked its way out.

Upon hearing this, the three people and the dog surrounding him stopped moving.

Seeing that the stick didn't fall, Li Biao grinned ferociously: "Hahaha, I'm just a worthless old man, but you're a family of five plus a dog. I'd be lucky to trade one for six."

"Let's talk about terms," Ye Yunyi said, turning on the lights in the living room hallway, illuminating the entire courtyard.

Li Biao stood close to the door, with Ye's father and Wang Zixiang standing to his left and right respectively, and Dou Dou and Wang Xuanxuan in front of him. Everyone looked very serious.

An arrow was lodged in Li Biao's right thigh, and his right calf was bitten by a dog, blood flowing down his feet and soaking the spot where he stood. His head, face, and hands were covered in bruises and wounds from being hit with a stick, and blood was also flowing from the corners of his mouth and the top of his head, making him a gruesome sight.

"Hmph, you're smart enough to know your place. I need grain, meat, and vegetables. I'll provide them every month, however much you want." Li Biao took out a dagger and severed the bamboo arrow from his thigh. He then pointed the dagger at Ye Yunyi and said.

As Ye Yunyi walked towards the door, she smiled gently: "Oh, it's just a neighbor. We thought that bad guy had sneaked in. It's so dark, no one can see you, right? The conditions are fine, but you don't look too good right now. You should go inside and get some treatment. We were also at fault for injuring you."

Li Biao was stunned by Ye Yunyi's move. Was this woman really so easy to talk to? But he still arrogantly said, "Don't try to trick me."

“What tricks could we possibly play? Look, even the four of us and the dog couldn’t do anything to you, right? What are you afraid of? We’re all neighbors, we should help each other out.” Ye Yunyi said, subtly giving Wang Zixiang a wink.

Wang Zixiang understood and said, "Yes, Brother Li, in this apocalypse, everyone is having a hard time. You are very skilled, and we will be counting on you to help us in the future. How could we possibly harm you?"
