Chapter 97 Retribution

"Pah, you damned woman! If it weren't for your instigation, who would have come up with this idea?" one of the old men said.

“Yes, it’s all because of you, you stupid woman,” said an older woman.

“But it wasn’t you who killed them. You said that you can’t finish a murder in one go, and that it’s only fresh when you eat it little by little,” the injured woman retorted.

“You tricked them all into coming here,” the old woman said.

"Hahaha, hahaha, stop arguing. A person dies with their head touching the ground. We've already eaten them, so what?" Chen Tao laughed loudly.

"Anyway, I've lived for over a year longer. Do you want to know what human flesh tastes like?" he suddenly said to the crowd, staring madly at them. "Do you know what their expressions are like when they're alive or when their limbs are severed?"

"Hahaha, I, Chen Tao, am not a good person, nor do I deign to be one."

"This is the end of the world! You're still so naive. This is a world where the victor takes all, a world where the strong prey on the weak. Look at how weak they are, they don't even have the courage to face zombies. They're just two-legged sheep. It's their honor to become my food." He said loudly, completely unrecognizable from his stoic and docile demeanor just moments before.

His words made those around him feel uncomfortable, but no one dared to utter a sound in the face of his manic and arrogant demeanor.

"Do you think this woman will bring you good days? She's just as ruthless. You'll see, she's nothing but a bunch of laughable lambs waiting for disaster." He was bound and couldn't point at Ye Yunyi, but he turned his head, looked at her contemptuously, and shouted to the people present.

"You're asking for it." Xiao Deng and Xiao Qin were about to draw their guns and shoot him dead when Ye Yunyi stopped them. "Let him talk, let him go crazy."

"Hahahaha. Come on, use whatever tricks you have up your sleeve, I won't blink an eye." With that, he raised his head high.

"Clap clap clap." Ye Yunyi clapped her hands. "It takes guts to be bold and take responsibility for your actions."

"Alright, homeowners, I won't ask for your opinions on his punishment today. As I said before, the scene is disturbing, so please, those with weak hearts or children, avoid the area," Ye Yunyi said.

"Who among you will administer the punishment?" Ye Yunyi asked the people around her. "If you are unwilling, I will do it."

"Sister Yiyi, let me do it," said Xiao Deng.

"Okay, Xiao Deng." Ye Yunyi looked at the crowd again, noticing some girls and women with children walking by.

"In order to eat fresh meat, he would live by cutting off human limbs, enduring not only physical pain but also the agony of watching his own limbs being eaten. So let the brave Chen Tao also taste this pain."

"Where do you usually eat first?" Ye Yunyi asked, circling around Chen Tao. "Legs? Hands? Or somewhere else?" Ye Yunyi spoke slowly, holding a long knife in her hand, pointing to the locations she indicated as she spoke. She seemed a little crazy.

Chen Tao kept his eyes closed; even after the outburst, he was still somewhat afraid. As the knife gently slid across his body, he couldn't help but tremble.

"Heh." Ye Yunyi chuckled softly. "So you're still afraid after all?"

"When you were harming them, weren't they scared? But don't be scared, it's useless. You should experience the pain they felt. Let's start with the legs. There's more flesh on the legs, they can't run, and they're far from the heart, so they're less likely to die, right?" Ye Yunyi said, handing the knife to Xiao Deng. Xiao Deng took the knife and swiftly brought it down. Chen Tao's right leg was severed from the calf, blood gushing out, and Chen Tao let out a pig-like scream.

Some people at the scene got scared and left, but most of them stayed.

"Serves them right, they really deserve it. Not only do they eat people, but they're also so cruel. They deserve it," someone said.

After Chen Tao's pain subsided for a while, Ye Yunyi looked at his pale face and the large beads of sweat on his forehead, without a trace of pity in her eyes. "So, where did you eat next? Oh, you tell me," Ye Yunyi said, pointing to the old man next to her.

"You will die a horrible death," the old man said.

"Thank you. You know that doing these things will only lead to a bad end. Look, isn't this retribution coming to you?" Ye Yunyi said.

"If you won't talk, that's fine. You tell me." Ye Yunyi pointed at the woman she had stabbed earlier. "If you tell me, I promise I'll give you a quick death in a bit."

"The other thigh, then the arm, and after the arm, he won't survive either. Without water, the body is generally unwanted, it's dirty," the woman said quickly.

At this moment, Ye Yunyi was like a demon in her eyes, and she was afraid that if she let something slip or spoke too slowly, she would suffer the same pain.

"Alright, Xiao Deng, do it in the order she says," Ye Yunyi said to Xiao Deng casually.

"Okay." With that, Xiao Deng swiftly chopped off Chen Tao's other leg from the thigh.

Chen Tao continued to scream, but his voice was much weaker than before.

"Give me a quick death, give me a quick death!" he roared.

"Look how fast your knife is. It's done in no time, and you haven't even suffered. After all, we don't eat your flesh, but if you need it, we can cook it for you," Ye Yunyi mocked.

“You’re a demon, a demon!” the older woman cried out.

"You know you're demons, so tell me, when you did this, did you ever think of yourselves as demons? Did you ever think that this was wrong?" Ye Yunyi shouted.

The woman was so yelled at that she couldn't speak, and could only sob softly.

"Almost there, almost there, we only need two more hands," Ye Yunyi said to Chen Tao. "See, isn't this what you guys usually do? Isn't this all done in your usual order?"

Chen Tao lay on the ground, his hands already untied by Xiao Deng. He had lost his left and right hands, and blood was flowing continuously, soaking the floor beneath him, leaving a trail of blood that flowed into the sewer.

He felt a chill and his head began to spin. Gradually, he saw countless figures walking towards him. Sometimes they were whole, begging for mercy; sometimes they were tattered and ragged, mocking him for being just like them; sometimes they turned into ghosts, opening their blood-red mouths to swallow him whole; sometimes they were zombies, stumbling towards him. He screamed in terror, begging repeatedly, "Let me go! Don't come looking for me! I was wrong! Go away! Go away!"

On his deathbed, perhaps he realized his mistake, or perhaps he would never realize it—it doesn't matter. The wicked deserve to be punished in this life, not in the next, not in the future.

“No one will eat your flesh, but maybe zombies will. Take them into the zombie horde; being eaten is their ultimate fate,” Ye Yunyi said.

"Yes." The guards each pulled one of them, and someone else found a chair, put Chen Tao and his hands and feet together, and walked towards the door.

Most of the zombies were lured away, but a small number remained at the entrance, and the stench of blood inside attracted even more zombies.

They opened the door and threw the six of them out.

The zombies pounced, and all that could be heard were screams and chewing sounds.

These six cannibals met their fate of being eaten.
