Chen Zhizhi completely believed what Li Ke said. In this day and age, even relatives would betray each other for a bite to eat, let alone the many unpleasant things she and Li Ke had done in the past.
Moreover, the person in front of her now seemed even more formidable, with a significantly different aura compared to when she first met her in the isolation room. No wonder she couldn't be sure for a moment.
Chen Zhizhi looked at her son on the ground, then looked up, her expression becoming much more resolute: "I really can't do what you're asking for, but I can find a way to let you see Dr. Cheng. With your abilities, he would welcome you to become a resident here. If you can gain his favor, what you're asking for won't be a problem."
Li Ke waited until evening before Chen Zhizhi's person replied that Dr. Cheng would be going to the villa that night.
Dr. Cheng's woman lives there. This woman was found for him by Chen Zhizhi. She used to live with the Zuo family. Although she is now with Dr. Cheng, she still has a good relationship with Chen Zhizhi.
Zuo Hui's parents had also passed away, and all of the Zuo family's supplies eventually ended up in Chen Zhizhi's hands. Although the bulk of the supplies were lost, what remained was enough for her to live a careful life with a group of her own people.
She is able to live well here now thanks to this batch of supplies and the interpersonal relationships she has cultivated with Dr. Cheng.
Just before the bar was about to open, Chen Zhizhi took her child and Li Ke out of the bar through the back door and got into her car. Li Ke and the child sat in the back, and Chen Zhizhi drove to their destination.
When we arrived, a woman with delicate features opened the door. She wasn't a stunning beauty, but her appearance and demeanor were quite pleasant.
She smiled at Chen Zhizhi and said, "I've been waiting for you for a while. Old Cheng won't be here anytime soon. He's always very late. We can eat first."
As she spoke, her gaze swept over Li Ke behind her, a hint of wariness and scrutiny in her eyes. After inviting him into the restaurant, she smiled and asked, "Is this the person you wanted to recommend to Lao Cheng? I haven't heard of any newcomers coming to the island recently."
Chen Zhizhi paused for a moment, and after meeting Liu Jingyan's gaze, she noticed a hint of resistance in her eyes. Once she understood, Chen Zhizhi immediately said, "Don't worry, this is my younger sister. She came to the island a long time ago, but she's been living with me and hasn't appeared in public. I just want to find her a good job. She's quite capable in combat, doesn't like to talk, and wants to work in the security team. I brought her here to introduce her to you."
Liu Jingyan listened to Chen Zhizhi's explanation and said dismissively, "Don't I know you? Of course I believe you. It's just that she was wearing a mask and looked unfamiliar. You know, Lao Cheng doesn't like meeting outsiders. If she just wants to work in the security team, couldn't your husband arrange that?"
Clearly, Liu Jingyan still had some doubts. Li Ke, who had been standing quietly, picked up a spoon from the table, held it with the handle facing outwards, and flung it at the opposite wall. The spoon pierced through the wall right before their eyes and embedded itself deep inside.
Li Ke said calmly, "My abilities can only be bought by the owners here."
Liu Jingyan stared at the hole in the wall for a while before composed herself and warmly invited everyone to sit down.
Two women brought over the food; judging from their clothes and demeanor, they were probably the maids here.
Liu Jingyan said to one of the women, "Please invite Aunt He over for dinner."
Li Ke glanced at the dishes on the table; there were chicken and beef, four meat dishes and four vegetable dishes. This was quite a good life.
Footsteps came from outside the restaurant, one heavy and one light, and then a woman with a full head of white hair walked in. When Li Ke saw the woman's face, he didn't expect to see two acquaintances at the same time on such a small island.
Liu Jingyan didn't get up, but simply moved the chair next to her so that the woman could sit next to her.
He Ru smiled at Chen Zhizhi before limping and sitting down next to Liu Jingyan.
Everyone started eating, and Li Ke followed suit, but none of the food went into her stomach; it was all transferred into her spatial dimension.
Since the disaster began and the air and land became polluted, Li Ke has almost stopped eating food from outside and only consumes food stored in his own space.
After dinner, the group moved to the living room, where Liu Jingyan suddenly remembered that she hadn't asked Li Ke's name yet, so she casually asked.
Li Ke didn't speak. Chen Zhizhi glanced at her before introducing her, "Her name is Li Ke."
Liu Jingyan listened and murmured, "This name sounds familiar, like I've heard it somewhere before?"
He Ru, who was standing next to her, was slightly startled when she heard the name. She looked at Li Ke and scrutinized him carefully, but in the end, she didn't say a word.
After recalling the origin of the name, Liu Jingyan looked at Aunt He beside her. Seeing that Aunt He had her head down and didn't react, she thought it was probably just someone with the same name.
A little while later, the sound of a car came from outside the door. Liu Jingyan quickly got up to greet it. Chen Zhizhi handed the sleeping child to the maid next to her and asked her to take the child to the guest room to sleep. She then walked towards the door, not forgetting to signal Li Ke to follow as well.
Two tall, burly men entered first, followed by a middle-aged man who looked somewhat scholarly. Liu Jingyan went to greet the middle-aged man, helped him take off his coat, and handed it to the servant.
Behind them was a stern-faced, muscular man who, upon entering, immediately fixed his sharp gaze on Li Ke.
The middle-aged man smiled at Chen Zhizhi and followed Liu Jingyan inside, without giving Li Ke a second glance.
