Chen Jiaojiao shook her head: "I haven't decided yet. You and your brother should go keep me company first, otherwise I'm really afraid I'll lose control and kill them both! Or I might accidentally die at their hands."
Li Zhenzhen hugged Chen Jiaojiao and said, "It hasn't come to that. You still have me and your brother. We will definitely help you."
Perhaps because she had already killed two people, Li Zhenzhen now showed no resistance or agitation towards her daughter's idea of killing Mo Ze's mother.
So many people are dying in the shelter every day, and there have been several riots recently. If this winter doesn't end soon, Li Zhenzhen isn't sure how much longer the Mo family can hold on.
Gao Ren also revealed to her that if the situation continued to worsen and the people in the shelter became unruly, the Mo family might abandon some of them to reduce their burden, which was something that could not be helped.
Li Zhenzhen changed the subject: "You live in the main district now, do you still keep in touch with Bao'er? Do you often visit the Mo family and the head of the Mo family?"
Chen Jiaojiao shook her head: "Ever since I faked being sick and had a miscarriage, Mo Bao'er came to see me and sat for a while, but we haven't had any contact since. She didn't even show up at the wedding, even though I invited her. Now it's hard to even run into her."
Moze doesn't have much contact with that side; they seem a bit afraid of them. I heard their family used to be disorganized, causing huge losses to the family business. They're still using half of their annual dividends to pay off debts, and they're still paying it off. If it weren't for that, Moze's family would definitely be living a much more comfortable life now. They're all fools!
It's truly foolish. If he hadn't been born into a good family, Moze would have absolutely nothing to offer.
Li Zhenzhen suppressed her thoughts and said, "If we don't want to move around, then we don't want to move around. Sometimes, less movement means fewer mistakes. Let's just seek peace and quiet for now."
Chen Jiaojiao was a little annoyed: "Mo Bao'er obviously looks down on me. Doesn't she realize that if she were in my situation, she might be even worse off than me? Speaking of which, I'm still her aunt. It's like she's clinging to her. I always feel like she's deliberately avoiding me."
Li Zhenzhen comforted her daughter: "Her status is much higher than ours. No matter how resentful we are, we can only think about it. Instead of getting angry, it's better to be more open-minded. In the future, when you meet them, treat them like ordinary friends. Don't bring your emotions into it and offend them."
Chen Jiaojiao nodded, but still said with some resentment, "I know, Mom, do you think you and that Mo family head still have a chance? Mo Bao'er's mother is sickly, and I heard she can't even get out of bed these days. You are the family head's first love. If Mo Bao'er's mother is gone, will the Mo family head still have feelings for her?"
Chen Jiaojiao now dreams of living the same life as Mo Bao'er. Although her current life is not bad, it is really annoying to have Sun Miao and Mo Ze, mother and son, both causing her distress.
Li Zhenzhen's face turned serious as she said earnestly, "Don't talk nonsense. You can't say such things again. The matter between Patriarch Mo and me is long gone. Look at our lives now, and you'll know that his care for us only goes this far. Don't have any foolish thoughts that might ruin our current peace."
Chen Jiaojiao was a little disappointed, but she still agreed: "I understand, I'll just tell you, I definitely won't say anything outside."
Qin Lisen's tough stance gradually put Zhuang Weifeng at a disadvantage in the negotiations. His uncle had disappeared, and he only had about thirty men left to rely on.
In the end, Zhuang Weifeng demanded that Qin Lisen provide three truckloads of supplies and personally escort their people out of the shelter, thus ending the standoff.
Zhuang Weifeng and his men didn't run far. The snowy roads were difficult to travel, and the supplies that he relied on most were still underground in that cave. So they found an uninhabited building to stay in temporarily.
As time went by, supplies were being depleted and the cold was intensifying. Zhuang Weifeng was young and lacked authority, causing unrest among those around him, with many becoming unruly.
"Young Master, the Liu brothers, Liu Jiang and Liu Hong, have rebelled. They're heading this way with their men to arrest you and establish their authority," Han Peng said urgently to Zhuang Weifeng, who was curled up on the bed, as he rushed in with four men.
Zhuang Weifeng's face was still a little pale. He had only recently recovered from a fever and was still somewhat weak. He coughed urgently as he stood up: "Why did they do this? What have I done to wrong them?"
Han Peng instructed the people around him to help Zhuang Weifeng put on his coat: "Young Master, there's no time to think about this. They'll be here soon, we need to get out of here quickly."
Zhuang Weifeng's head was still throbbing, making it impossible for him to think clearly. He knew Han Peng was right, so he could only be embraced and hurriedly leave the small building, following Han Peng and the others as they ran into the distance.
Sure enough, the sound of chasing and shouting came from behind. Zhuang Weifeng's hat was askew, and his eyes and half of his exposed ear were so cold that they hurt. He had run away too fast and hadn't put on enough clothes. The wind and snow on the road had frozen Zhuang Weifeng almost into an icicle.
When he woke up again, he was in a small house. Han Peng brought him some hot water to drink. Zhuang Weifeng looked at the somewhat familiar room and asked, "How did we get here?"
Han Peng gave a wry smile and said, "We don't have much on us, and you've passed out. If we don't find a place to warm up soon, you'll be gone. This place is the closest stronghold we know of, so we can't worry about anything else for now and just came in to hide."
This was the place where his uncle had stayed before he disappeared, and it was also the closest place to their batch of supplies. Zhuang Weifeng, who had just been betrayed, was also a little suspicious. He asked, "Liu Jiang and the others also know about this place. What should we do if they come after us?"
