Chapter 169 Idea

Li Ke slept for nearly seven hours in the space, feeling quite satisfied. She sat on the bed and played with the three dogs for a while, then took them around the space for a while before slowly leaving.

It was not yet nine o'clock in the morning outside. Li Ke hid on a high place and used binoculars to observe the town below. Although she looked calm and unhurried, she actually had no idea what to do when she looked at the people moving around below.

Li Ke always felt that she wasn't very smart. It was difficult for her to come up with a plan in advance for many things. She was more used to quick thinking on the spot. When faced with a real situation, a series of solutions would start to pop into her head. She would use whichever one was suitable first. If she felt that an idea that hadn't been used was better, Li Ke might change her mind at any time.

So at this moment, although she had a detailed layout map and a general understanding of the town's duty shifts, she hadn't figured out exactly how to proceed; in short, she had no plan at all.

The leader of District 10 has disappeared, along with more than 20 others. The town's defenses may also change. Li Ke's defenses are not comprehensive. The fat leader can only give a clear account of District 10, and can only give a general overview of the other districts. They cannot provide accurate information.

The town must have just finished changing shifts. A group of listless people were lining up for food. Li Ke glanced at them and saw that each person only had a bowl of thin porridge. These people were really skinflint!

After the group finished eating and were escorted back to their lodgings, Li Ke began to carefully move in a roundabout way, approaching the town. So far, no one in the town has been sent out to search for Fatty Boss and his gang.

Li Ke had just asked the fat leader about it and learned that, apart from the camp leader who was assigned twice a month to lead people out to report on their work, the other members of their group were only responsible for guarding their own camp and doing their jobs.

The pursuit of Li Ke by Fatty and his group yesterday was strictly not allowed. If it was necessary to confront the enemy, at least five camp leaders would need to discuss and handle the matter together.

Yesterday, the fat boss was in a hurry and led his men to chase after them without notifying his other accomplices. He thought that since there was only one pig truck, he could get it done in half an hour by going and coming back quickly. Who knew that he would be caught by this man?

Li Ke asked him, "So they're just going to let all of you disappear?"

The fat leader lowered his head and said, "We are both partners and competitors. We only have a superficial relationship. They will report things, but they probably won't stand up for me. We'll have to wait for orders."

Li Ke knocked out the useless fat boss again and threw him back, then continued to approach the town. The town's security relied entirely on the patrols of several neighborhoods; they hadn't installed any high-tech surveillance equipment, which made things easier for Li Ke.

After successfully entering the town, Li Ke sneaked into an abandoned building, went up to the second floor, found a suitable spot, and carefully observed the outside situation while taking out the marked layout map to think of a plan.

The situation in the town can now be roughly divided into three groups of people: one group consists of the prisoners of war who are working and their guards; another group consists of the prisoners of war who are resting and their guards who are also resting with them; and the third group consists of the people patrolling the town.

Li Ke was racking his brains. Rescuing people was too troublesome. If he could gather these bandits together, it would be much easier, but right now it seemed very difficult to do.

When her gaze fell upon the supplies and equipment area, Li Ke's mind suddenly settled. She didn't need to shoulder everything herself. These prisoners needed to save themselves. And frankly, who knew how many of the people she had rescued with all her might actually be human and how many were ghosts?

She's in a hurry to go back and build her new home; she can't stay here forever, helping others solve their problems, can she? That would be putting the cart before the horse.

After Li Ke figured things out, she felt much more relaxed. She acted immediately and started running towards the equipment area, avoiding people. There was no need to move the supplies; if these people successfully saved themselves, they would still need them, but if they failed, they were truly beyond help.

Upon arriving at the equipment area, the front door was locked, and two men carrying rifles sat at the entrance. Li Ke went directly around to the back and began looking for a window.

There was a large iron window on the side wall, which was tightly covered with black curtains.

The window faces a narrow alley, and its location is anything but concealed. If Li Ke wants to use this as a breakthrough point, he'll have to be incredibly fast.

Even if he successfully broke the window, he would have to be careful not to make a sound that would be discovered by the two guards. Li Ke chose to give up this risky breakthrough.

She decided to make a scene, deal with both guards, and then unlock the door to get in—it would be faster and safer. According to what the others had told her, the guards here changed shifts about every four hours, or half a day, so she still had time.

Li Ke knocked on the window. If it was just one person, she would simply snap their neck and finish them off. If it was two people, she would grab the space and take care of them together.

"What's that sound? Did you hear it?" The guard on the right side of the gate reacted first.

The guard on the left squinted, seemingly lost in thought, and replied listlessly, "It's probably the wind making the noise."

Li Ke could only knock on the window again. What wind? There wasn't a breath of wind at all. These two guards weren't very responsible!

The sound was a little louder this time, and the guard on the right quickly stood up: "Let's go take a look."

The guard on the left squinted again, probably already asleep, and didn't give his companion any further response.
