Chapter 170 Protection

As she ran, Li Ke noticed that someone was following her. She usually kept to herself by taking the side paths and didn't attract much attention, but the burly man with a thick beard was following her closely and doing so in a very stylish way, fighting off the local bandits along the way.

This led to them being discovered. The bandits' bullets were fired in their direction, as were the prisoners' bullets. Because Li Ke was still wearing the guard's uniform, after she finished firing, the bearded man reminded her that she had fired the wrong bullet. He apologized loudly and went to fire at the bandits again, which made the bandits realize that Li Ke was a spy. They then started firing at her, which really infuriated Li Ke, who wanted to minimize her presence!

Li Ke stopped behind a house. Although she had become a target several times, the big man behind her had taken care of all the potential dangers around her in a timely manner. He was a good helper, but Li Ke really didn't need him.

Li Ke, somewhat annoyed, said to the bearded man who was also hiding behind the wall, "Go kill your men, what are you doing following me?"

The other party replied quite confidently, "To protect you. It would be too embarrassing if word got out that we wiped out the bandits only to find our benefactor dead or seriously injured and died. Besides, you look a bit weak."

Li Ke: ...Screw you, this is the first time in so long that someone has called me weak!

"If you hadn't been with me, I would have found a safe place to hide long ago. You're acting like you're repaying kindness with enmity!" Li Ke swallowed his anger and retorted sarcastically.

The other person's eyes widened: "I didn't let a single bullet get close to you. Don't worry, with me here, even if you jump into a hail of bullets, I can make sure you're unharmed."

Li Ke could no longer tolerate it and said directly, "Get out!"

The bearded man comforted Li Ke, saying, "Young man, you're really hot-tempered. You know, back in the day, people who wanted my protection couldn't even find a way to ask me for help."

Li Ke looked him up and down and said, "Heh, so capable, yet you still had to dig a hole underground and became someone's prisoner."

The bearded man was furious: "There's a reason for that. The little brat doesn't understand anything."

Li Ke was startled and lowered his voice: "I'm older than you!"

The other person chuckled and said, "I've eaten more salt than you've walked roads. My judgment is never wrong."

Li Ke ignored him and continued running forward. She would make things more chaotic later and then try to escape. This man in front of her was simply a fox who looked like a bear!
