Chapter 23 A Good Marriage

After all that work, which was even more time-consuming and exhausting than her own job, Chen Ziyue was even more hesitant to let her parents meet people casually after hearing that Chen Zhizhi and Zuo Hui had just developed feelings for each other.

Fortunately, everyone only looked at Zhizhi today and didn't bother Zuo Hui. Chen Ziyue stopped her family from losing face and was about to go back after completing her mission.

Li Zhenzhen got up to see her out, and Chen Ziyue finally found a moment to ask Li Zhenzhen, "What's wrong? You don't look well. Are you tired?"

Li Zhenzhen said with a smile, "When my period comes, you know how it is. My complexion is always bad and I feel unwell. But I'll feel better in a couple of days."

Upon hearing this, Chen Ziyue teased her, "Every time I hear you naturally beautiful people say that, I get jealous. You too, no matter how good your foundation is, you still need to take care of yourself and pay more attention to your health."

Chen Ziyue is now in her early fifties. Although she takes various measures to maintain her appearance, she is not as energetic as before. She is genuinely envious of her sister-in-law, who is not yet forty.

Li Zhenzhen possessed both age and beauty, and despite being nearly forty, she looked like she was only thirty, which made Chen Ziyue, who was also a woman, secretly jealous.

Li Zhenzhen nodded in acceptance of the offer. Chen Ziyue continued, "I think Xiao Ke has grown into a young adult now. Zhenzhen, no matter how unhappy you are about the past, you've raised this child all these years. If you pay more attention to her, she might repay you in the future."

When Li Zhenzhen heard Chen Ziyue mention Li Ke, her face fell again. She shook her head and said, "That girl is so stubborn. I think all my hard work over the past few years has been for nothing. She doesn't know how to be grateful and doesn't appreciate kindness. I don't think it'll be easy for her to repay me."

A glint of light flashed in Chen Ziyue's eyes as she said to Li Zhenzhen, "She's still a child, and she doesn't receive much love, so it's inevitable that she'll feel resentful. I think this child is quite good. In our family, she's the one who truly inherited your looks. Jiaojiao is also very good, just a bit young. This child herself is also outstanding, and she's put all her effort into her studies. Xiao Ke, what are your plans? I heard that her studies are a bit sluggish."

Li Zhenzhen casually said, "She's never been very bright, and her studies have never been good. Now that the college entrance exam is coming up, she can't even stick to the last few days and has started skipping school. She's not close to me, and if I interfere too much, she'll hate me. I'm just letting her be now."

Hearing Li Zhenzhen say this, Chen Ziyue pondered for a moment and said, "She must be under too much pressure. It's painful to not be doing well in school. If she really doesn't want to go to school, Zhenzhen, you can ask her if she wants to work for me. I can arrange an internship for her. Of course, we need to find a way to fix her face first. Otherwise, she's just a kid, and she'll easily feel inferior in the workplace. My care will just become a form of bullying."

Looking at Chen Ziyue's sincere face, Li Zhenzhen nodded after a long while and said, "Okay, after her birthday, I'll tell her to relax for a while and get her acne treated."

Chen Ziyue touched Li Zhenzhen's face, her smile deepening: "I knew it, you understand me best. Go back now, I'm leaving. Let's get together again after the kids finish their college entrance exams."

Li Zhenzhen watched Chen Ziyue's car drive away, and then saw another car coming. She knew that her two children had returned, so she didn't rush back into the house and waited to pick them up.

She was in a bad mood today, partly due to her physical condition, and partly because Chen Zhizhi had encountered such a wonderful thing. How could she, as a stepmother, be happy?

Thinking that Jiaojiao was still young, Li Zhenzhen felt a little regretful. If her Jiaojiao were older, this matter would not have fallen on Chen Zhizhi's shoulders.

Li Ke, who had gone upstairs, knew nothing about the Chen family's affairs. As soon as she returned to her room, she locked the door, took out her electric scooter to charge, and then went into her personal space to rest.

She has a big event to do tonight, so she should rest as much as possible now.
